Extremely curious about this, time to read LOL
Absolutely amazed at the paypal thing. A lot of the other questions were pretty much what people assumed from the start (Such as only caring about money), but I sure as hell never took something like the paypal one in to consideration

This is just terrible. Good lord, my desire to support Nexon with NX has plummeted yet again. I'm very surprised though it'd be Nexon Korea that seems to care the most about money. At least from what I saw, kMS players seemed overall happier and more glad to throw NX at Maplestory than gMS players, or maybe that's only because I'm still rather ignorant of the higher up communities on both end.

Or might be Korean gamers are just intense ![]() Maybe we should all queue up and get Paypal-using Golden Snails to submit all our tickets/reports from now on, hurr.

I think KMS also has more players, they have more events that can help to save cash (For example, Unique potential scrolls mean that you'd spend less overall to get your desired stat) and they have greater flexibility in making cash items tradeable, so that gives them more incentives to buy cash.

Even Koreans joke about "...and BUY NX TODAY". And Angelic Buster was hated by the majority as well. - NexonAM has to fulfill what corporate wants so ultimately all the problems we face is because of Nexon Korea. According to that guy's testimony, he believes NexonAM legitimately cares about their players (which I agree with) but they are, in general, powerless and must answer to Korea. Like someone else mentioned, Korea's problems are answered quickly and thoughtfully because there's no middleman to go through. The devs exist there (for the most part) and customer service can answer promptly from the same building the game was made. Also gotta say what the exGM said: "different countries, different problems".

A couple of other things that make me :f6:
"My job was outsourced". What? I think it's pretty established that all GMs must work in the Nexon offices. The bit about the ticket backlog of 1000, going up to 2500 on Monday. lol? We know they had years of backlog. If they were actually making headway into it and only ended with 1000 unanswered tickets on Fridays, they would not have had to do a reset and delete all old tickets. Or maybe he was talking about only those tickets they had any intention of looking at, at all. Philosophical question: How does one tell the difference between a disgruntled employee confirming our worst fears, and yet another unhappy player echoing our worst fears? Regardless: Thanks, Zelkova.

Sorry, I missed this:
SaptaZapta Wrote:As for how it was done, she was charging their accounts with her Paypal. Yes, people gave her their passwords. That does not insure safety of ones own account... $20 on 5 accounts are all equally inferior to $100 charged on 1 account. If you take that to a larger scale, she was thinning out her insurance through several accounts. The only way for her to fully chargeback all that money she spent is to charge back every single transaction made on every account she charged on... causing a billing block for all her friends.

Sephie Wrote:Sorry, I missed this: Nexon's $150 Paypal charge limit is per Nexon Passport, not per Paypal account. So she could have $100 charged on each of those accounts. She wasn't doing it for "insurance", and she didn't attempt to charge back. I'm just saying, if they don't touch Paypal users for fear of losing a couple hundred dollars, tops, why did they ban her when they stood to lose a lot more?

The PayPal account itself isn't what gives you that insurance: it's the Nexon account and how much has been charged on it. If she charged $1000 on 10 different accounts but $0 on her own, Nexon can ban her Nexon account and she can't do anything about it. If she charged $150 every month on her friend's account, that account will be "high risk" according to Nexon because banning that account would relieve hundreds of dollars, regardless of whoever charged it (could be the actual owner, or 2+ other people). They care about the money coming in, not where that money is coming from (unless it's fraud). Conversely for a ban, they care about how much money is going out, not who or where the money goes when it does go out. I'm not saying she was doing it for the "insurance", I'm saying that the act of charging through PayPal is insurance for an account is a deterrent for Nexon and that it was spread thin. If she charged every single NX transaction on her own account and not on any other account, I am quite sure that she would never have gotten banned or if she did, she could easily repeal that.

Sephie Wrote:The PayPal account itself isn't what gives you that insurance: it's the Nexon account and how much has been charged on it. She charged her own Nexon account as well. And I think you missed the bit in my first post about a buyer being banned along with her - despite his account being charged through Paypal.

SaptaZapta Wrote:She charged her own Nexon account as well. I'll have to go back to my previous post and say that the details aren't definite but hold some truth. Also, did she get her money back (charged on that banned account)? If she didn't then <_<. I myself got banned even though I charged heavily through PayPal so I'm not deeming your friends as an impossibility. I'm skeptic of this guy and what he said but it reaffirms a few things that I've known to be true for the most part... assuming this guy was who he says he was.

Cere Wrote:Or might be Korean gamers are just intense It's partly this. Koreans tend to be very much so competitive when it comes to gaming compounded by the fact a lot of MMORPG's originate from Korea. Maplestory is also well-known in Korea (about as much as Starcraft is). Given how popular MS is in Korea, Nexon Korea knows people will throw NX their way. And lots of it. I realize this sounds sort of racist but yea, as a Korean, there definitely is an intense gaming culture presence in Korea compared to America (professional Starcraft training camps anyone?) . My last visit to Korea, there was a live nationally broadcasted Starcraft tournament airing from my hotel room.

Ugh why must I reply to read the answers. I'll edit this post with a response after I'm done reading.
Edit: This guy sounds way too spiteful, and I'm not sure if I can take some of those answers seriously. This seems fishy. Sounds more like a disgruntled player than an ex-gm. |
