Scheduled Server Maintenance - November 21, 2012
KhainiWest Wrote:You have to consider they did an entire overhaul this past February. In the past 6 months they have done a lot, hell in the past month I have seen more GM activity inside the game than I have in my like 7 years of playing.

It once came in a very simple form. Nexon have had the capacity to stop this for a long time, and it started with items with labels. If nexon had shut them down duped like they easily could, none of this may have ever happened.
But the fact they've only done this as of recent, it is unfair to allow a game to be poisoned for this long near-unchallenged.

Good job Nexon, but too little too late in a lot of cases. The godly-funded hackers and cheaters have benefited from dupes for so long that this won't really effect them. For instance, some person with 700k range losing gear to make it 300k range can just go "F3, lemme just use all those millions/billions of mesos/NX I've made from selling loads of duped stuff over the years to get my range back up to 700k in a week".

What Nexon should be doing from now on is make removals like this EVERY week and be more thorough each time (of course I'm sure they've missed some things). They should focus more and more on the source of the problem (including the duped scrolls used to make such gear), not the outcome. Making huge removals like this every couple of months won't do anything to deter the hackers. The fact that there's still some duping methods out there (unless I'm mistaken) does not help either.

They ought to adopt DEA-style tactics and raid specific individuals and any accounts related to them. Just sitting for an hour and watching the items show up in the chat box would give enough ammunition and people to go after. These individuals just can't help giving themselves up. Off these people, they could probably go after entire guilds (see: gangs) if they really wanted to. They flock together and would make easy targets for some scattering banshot.

I dont think anyone is arguing this. The point is they are becoming more proactive, which is a plus and nothing to scoff at. Anyone can sit here and say they should have taken it the minute it was created but it didnt. Changes were made within the company and we're now seeing those changes.

Aflac Wrote:My top was deleted and I didn't even know it was duped... sigh..

This is what makes me mad. I logged in today knowing there was a 100% chance that nothing of mine would be missing because everything I have was self created from over four years of playing.

My stupid Black Neos Top was deleted. It was retardedly scrolled and only had 25 STR on it. Between that and my Blue Neos Pants, they are the two oldest items I possessed. I bought the top scrolled +2 and put the rest as 60's myself back in 2008. So you are telling me that back in 2008 someone duped that? A stupid +2 top? Fortunately I hadn't put that much in cubes into it, but still, I had sunk enough to get 2 lines of bonus potential and 2 lines of Unique Strength.

What gives? I am happy that the illicit black market is now stoped, but I know for a fact there is no chance in hell that my top was ever duped, but even if it was, how was I supposed to know? It was stupid stats from a stupid FM seller in the El Nath shops, I take photos of everything -_-

Why should I have to pay the price when their search algorithm deleted false positives?

And my point is it came too late, and it angers me that they didn't do so earlier when they should have, and have the community suffer through their greed when a competent company would have never allowed it to get to this point where every ignorant person thinks it's OK. Nexon is late and now the community has to suffer more from their actions in scale than there should have been. It seems both needed and pretty cruel to me.

I only lost my 27 attack 25% STR VSS.

I have to say, I'm glad I didn't lose as much as the others. I'll take this as a Lesson for the Future and avoid any more duped gear that comes in my way.

B> Clean Empress Shoes~

The larger problem is that furthermore, how are we ever to know whether an item is duped or not? If it's not just godly items getting removed, how could you possibly buy anything anymore from anyone in the FM? A LOT more was removed than just uber Godly equips. In a game where Nexon makes money on cubes that enhance an existing items stats, does anyone see the incredible moral issue at stake here? Wait until someone has cubed an item and spent $$$ and then claim its duped and remove it during a maintenance? This is totally absurd. I am not defending the actions as I feel they were needed, but a tremendous part of the game is merching, and how can you ever buy an already scrolled item knowing there is a chance at some point in the future it might be removed?

This is so great. I dumped most of my items for USD a couple weeks ago, and now my "legit" items like 29 ATT empress shoes will become worth more.

+1 Nexon

I have literally never seen so many complaint threads on Basil ever since the infamous rollback before the Dual Bladers release back in July.

I would like to see the game economy return to the point where mesos actually meant something, like when good gear was under max mesos. Hopefully Nexon's actions will bring the game back to this point.

They will need to do something about that famous hack trainer to get to that point. Completely block it from being able to run with the Maple Client.

No reason to doubt Nexon will reach that point soon, they've come a long way since the mess started two years ago.

I would like to see that happen at MSEA as well. The hacking situation is so ridiculous practically everything you want costs millions and millions so I now do a seasonal shop run after getting tons of things to sell and net billions to stay afloat.

See Wrote:Only my 207 katara was deleted. :/ Saw it coming, just sad that my range went from 150k clean to under 120k buffed LOL

A lot of people are going to quit. Ah well, I'm devastated about my katara, but I'm happy in the direction Nexon is moving towards.

Sorry to hear :/ Is 207 basically another 217?

Reading this makes me scared I lost my legit katara and I can't log in today at all.

OT: My katara was way below average when it was clean so I genuinely hope it wasn't duped. I seriously don't want to perfect a katara ever again.

That plan may backfire on them, half of Khaini wants to quit, and that means no more money given to Nexon.

Well, it was a joke..............................kinda.

I haven't played this game since I got to lvl 200 on my Phantom about two weeks after their release, but I did have three characters outfitted in Empress gear, two sets of spectrum goggles, and a CHTP. I tended to be careful about avoiding duped gear if I could help it, and it's all still there... so, uh, whew, I guess. I'd definitely never come back if my goggles disappeared. They're like a part of my soul when it comes to this game. I've had them since their introduction... hell, I gave my first pair to Alloy. I dunno why I love those things so much.

Yeah, I think the 207 ended up duped with 10 stars, someone enhanced, and it got duped more as a 217.
I'm sure your katara is fine, and best of luck with your account!

I like how some of the obvious duped VSS's still remain.

Gotta love it.

Do you know anyone personally who dupes? Because you have no idea what you're talking about.

This is where i am at. Regardless of legitimacy or whatever excuse you use to justify it, treating their players in this way is unforgiveable. The fact that they deleted a lot of things that were in fact legit doesn't help at all either.

If they had done this within the month of it being so obvious it's stupid i bet you no one would have complained besides those who caused it in the first place who probably still wouldn't care because they already made thousands of dollars sometimes on a daily basis selling these items. Doing it A FULL YEAR AND THEN SOME AFTER everything was already so heavily assimilated into the economy and the high level player base is one of the stupidest actions i have ever seen from a company.

Ah. I had no idea. My katara did survive but my range took a sharp dip like yours as well. Man, it stings. Best wishes on your account too Smile
