Thank You Mr. Basil

As one person is not representative of an entire website, no.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

It seems like it judging by the first few comments made in the first page and the number of upvotes they got. A few individuals totally missed the point of the thread because they would rather show how smart and witty they are. It's ironic that many on SP would so quickly take the opportunity to belittle basilmarket. Especially because it is a legitamate issue with the game that many would agree with if it was posted here instead. But nope, since it was from basilmarket it is automatically stupid

This site is a circlejerk but not over intellectualism.

A circle jerk comprising of individuals who feel they are superior intellectually than that of other maple fansites.

No.

Do you even know what a circlejerk is?

Oaysis Wrote:Mr. Basil's post is not much different from editorials I've seen on major media websites. His goal was to get awareness on a major issue he sees in the game. I feel like he accomplished that regardless of his writing style. Now you and many others I've seen on this website seem to ignore that because you are too blinded by your hate of basil.

You mean the major issue he's deleted threads for trying to voice out previously, right? I don't know what "legitimate news websites" you've been reading but this is orchestrated pretty childishly at best.

Oaysis Wrote:You honestly think Nexon cares about how you present an issue? Go to the nexon forums. I've seen plenty of poorly written complaints that get solved simply because there was a huge outcry. Now I don't think Nexon will change anything in regards to this particular issue but that doesn't change the fact that Nexon and their employees could probably careless on how you present your concern as long as its understandable.

Oh what a load. So you're saying constantly spamming a forum is equivalent to a fully thought out ticket? Well just to give you some information, yes the format of your ticket very well impacts your response to said ticket. If they respond at all that is. It's like going to an interview in a sweatshirt or a sports jersey to some minimum paying job. It still makes an impression whether they will give their full attention to you, or in this case "it".

Oaysis Wrote:I think that sums up my point real well. Get off your highhorse. This website has become nothing more than a circlejerk of psuedo intellectuals

I'm talking down to you. I do so in the regards that you don't know what the f`uck you're talking about. If you ventured outside the maplestory section you'd see majority of the website is pretty laid back. But clearly you're short sighted in most of your opinions so take it as you will.

ShinkuDragon Wrote:with how ADHD most maplers are, especially with posts THAT LONG! (being serious about that) i think it was the only way he could have gotten the most attention.

Okay to be honest, the entire "story" was stupid and pointless. I lost interest at that part to begin with because I feel like I'm being told a f`ucking nursery rhyme. If he wanted to look like he was speaking to adolescences, which he is, he could have summed that poorly written garbage in 4 sentences and left it at that.

Jamesie Wrote:Right.... because all other eloquently (or at least more "maturely," as you would think) petitions to Nexon have actually made an impact. Ahaha, don't make me laugh.

(PS: Know your audience)

Okay, the audiance isn't a bunch of 7-9 year olds who needs a story so dumb'd down it's like teaching basic logic to children.

1) It's mrbasil, they will read any garbage he spits out, case and point this petition which has been done about 6 times.

2) All he needed to say was; "Karma of scissors needs to be removed from the game because they discourage players from making new classes as it becomes too pricey to benefit off the equipment we rightfully earned". Seriously, he'd probably get more likes doing that.

So really your point is pretty sh`itty, not much of a change though.

I'm not about to argue with you about what a circlejerk is. I've been on this website long enough to know the nature of it's most frequent posters

Oh really, and what's mine, entertain me with your shallow view point.

If you want to bring up forum age, I've been here longer. Likewise, I recommend going down to the Social section to see the true circlejerk in this place. On the topic of intellectualism, if your average group of basilers (I'm guessing 14-17) are perceived as dumb then your site will be generalised to be so. The average age group of Southperry is a bit higher so it seems like we're a bit more intellectual. Is it true? Probably, probably not. You don't know, I don't know. A couple people who are vocal on the front about their egotistical intellect don't define the entire site. We just have a cognitive bias to generalise, which you have done so.

the word that you are looking for in the previous post IMO is Hivemind, and not circlejerk

For those who don't seem to know the definition:

A hivemind are a group of people who share certain ideals, thoughts, goals, etc.

A circlejerk is a hivemind that lacks self-awareness.

@KhainiWest I'm not about to sit here and argue with you endlessly cause I know you like to do that. I've said what I wanted to say and I know nothing I say will get across to you cause you like to nitpick everything to make it seem like you know more than you do. Not to mention you like to resort to insults.

I'll leave you with this:

Then don't waste my time or rather everyone elses trying to challenge their opinion. In fact it wasn't much of a challenge, you touted something, frankly groundless.

Also I wouldn't consider what I do nitpicking, just amazed how you can present that as a point when it has so many holes in it from the get go. Aka rethink your argument then commence the response. A+ directions.

I also purposely come off condescending, I have since my god complex took place. It's not a problem, it's a solution to educate stupidity.

You argue for the sake of arguing. That's your issue. You think you are educating but all you are you doing is nitpicking and looking for holes in a person's argument or rather their writing. You like to ignore the message people try to get across. I could sit here and write an essay but that would be a waste my time. Cause I could careless about yours. I'll leave you with the final say, cause I know you like that Smile

I educate them by giving them a justified perspective. If they wish to deny the perspective, that's fine. The way you worded it made it sound like that I was "wrong" for thinking that way because presentation doesn't matter. I don't agree and I tell you why, and why your reasons don't work. That's kind of how the whole process of arguing works. Sorry if you were taught differently.

Oaysis Wrote:You like to ignore the message people try to get across. I could sit here and write an essay but that would be a waste my time. Cause I could careless about yours. I'll leave you with the final say, cause I know you like that Smile

I'm glad you have such a fascination with me, even if it is inaccurate. In order for me to challenge your "message" I have to understand it, otherwise I'd have my foot in my mouth. But feel grateful that the time I do have to waste was wasted on you. Oh and the whole "I'm better than you because I'm big enough to walk away approach", well in this case, crawl.

Your only responses were to reflect your insecurities on the website and how you feel so intellectually insignificant compared to the general website populace. You choose to respond but not to my points, just to me personally, which has no barring as you don't know me outside of a few posts here and there. Your perspective, much like your opinion on this matter is skewed. Presentation is everything, yet you take my first impression as a definition, of not just me, but the website in general and apply it. Yet you tell me that nexon doesn't care about presentation when it's essentially human instinct to pass judgement the moment they interact with something.

1) How much of the actual message he's sending is the story? At least half of it is dedicated to explaining the problem, even if it is done in a more casual tone rather than using the thesaurus on all words possible. And naturally they would read whatever he posts since he doesn't post entirely all that frequently to begin with (so I would say this point is a touch irrelevant). On top of that though, it's a "featured" thread, so of course it's going to get read anyways.

2) That would have worked just as well, but his version has evidence that shows why players would be discouraged. But it almost doesn't even matter since Nexon ignores petitions anyways. So basically you all are nitpicking at something that doesn't really matter anyways.

I won't respond further. If you'd like to respond, go ahead.

Yeah, that's enough of that.
