But here's the thing...it's that way in GMS only. In JMS and KMS that gear is the only way to make the character even viable, because of how Cash Shop intensive this game is at this point. A clean, 0% character is never going to get far, however at this point all the gear you get that's worth transferring becomes tradelocked after use, or even before then.
That's even before we talk about people who already spent hundreds of dollars on gear in the first place. If I got an Empress set, then spent $100 to just get 3% stat on every piece (Which is EXTREMELY possible, neigh likely), how is it logical or right that I should have to pay EVEN MORE to transfer that to another character, that's in the same account?
Not everyone has +100% or more in their main stat. That's a GMS-only circumstance. The trade lock issue, however, is a wide-spread issue in every single version of MS.
Heck, I don't even think it would be that big of an issue if it was possible to replicate most of these items without spending another $100 or more. In the area of other games that DO have a character-lock after equip, they don't have this excessive pay-to-win problem.
I can see account locking items, but complete trade lock? No, there's no excuse at all. It's an archaic system that is not used in any modern MMO, and we have every right to insist that MS adopts this, ESPECIALLY when they're charging for functionality that everyone else gives for free. The only time an item is character-locked in current MMOs is when it's specific to a storyline, character, or quest. For example, and I've used this one before, Demon Slayer's shields, or special specific character gear that they get. Another example, the special sets Hayato and Kanna get for hitting 120, that's specifically for them and no one else.
Highlighted that part because that's the only thing I saw apart from all of us who agree with Mr.Basil to which I want to say what the pineapple.
Besides the points above, I should add that there's also no storyline reason why these gears have to be tradelocked every time, so I could understand the logic of fully locking down storyline-specific gear and not the rest. I imagine Nexon had this planned out from the very start since all armours are shareable between all classes of the same job and they're just piling it on with every class having its own secondary and there's absolutely no reason why that should be done or is fair because those are EARNED ITEMS and Nexon has already taken their share of the profits once the item is cubed and perfectly scrolled (Or in the case of Cygnus, consider 2x drop cards and WoFs). It's come to a point that I'm actively discouraging people from cubing too many things and asking them to think of the impact of such decisions because it's beyond injustice when you can't even play two of the same class TOGETHER and share the same equips unless you want to pay a sum of money good for your meals, a book or maybe even a console game that's just been released. Oh, and you get to do that again if you get bored of the class which for someone who changes class preferences as much as I do or for anyone that mains more than one class of the same type is not a viable, wise or consumer-friendly option.
Add currency into the whole equation and it just becomes rage-worthy. The price of one of those flipping PSOKs good for one flipping transfer at MSEA is enough to buy the latest paperback book with enough money leftover for a soft drink and our books ARE already overpriced.

100% main stat isn't even close to enough to start farming Empress equips (well except for ABs perhaps? I don't know if their brokenness extends to Empress), if they're available at all it's because people in every server have ridiculous-ass gear, and they're only cheap because so many people have it.
Getting 100% stat is just a matter of a few hundred dollars in cubes, which over the 2+ years they've been available isn't that much by MMO standards. There's no bar for entry where you need to have $2000 of gear already to even obtain them yourself, like the 140+ equips have.
I'd guess typical for GMS is more like 20-30% main stat but those people aren't buying empress capes/weapons either.

This, so MUCH this. Bowmasters got the shaft in just about everything including fun (Explanation: I like my BM even though my DPS wasn't the highest but got shafted because Mercs get way more types of attacks and attacking styles) that I was just about to give up when they suddenly not only get buffed but a last-minute change, the originally boring mobbing skill gets more fun because it splits up now and their Hyper Skill is rather spammable introducing new ways to fight.
It's come to the point that I am this close to banning the word Cygnus from my dictionary for every character I'm going to make except for my eventual main since it's one thing for a class to be nerfed a little and quite another for the same class to be completely outclassed, outstyled and outdamaged by another. Not for me, their money-grubbing business plan.

How can you possibly say that 100% stat is only a few hundred dollars in cubes? A few weeks ago I spent $75 and got 9% (3% on 3 pieces). None of them went Epic at all, which means the best I had a chance for was 9% per piece, which requires an excessive amount of luck (something that will never happen for me, because I don't have any).
Even putting that aside, if you already spent $2000 on cubes, you should automatically have free trade for said gear. Asking people to spend EVEN MORE is adding insult to injury. It's not a matter of "You spent $2000 already so what's a little more?" it's a matter of "I spent $2000 on you and you want EVEN MORE so I can properly use it?" It's like they purposely want to fuuck everyone in the ass who's actually keeping them alive.
Above even our complaints, it deters players from wanting to cube at all, because most of the time when people end up spending $200+, it's on impulse, and not an intention. I'm victim of this myself. I didn't intend to spend $75 the other day, I stupidly went, "Well if I can just get 3% more..." Is it my fault? Absolutely. But with this additional fee on the first fee, then the result is people not spending money at all because of it. They aren't thinking in thousands when they buy cubes to begin with, at least most people are not. They're thinking in tens and sometimes hundreds. Adding even more to that just deters people, especially, above all else, the fact that you have to scissor EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO TRANSFER. So if you play a lot of characters, you're not spending $40 once...or twice....or even three times. You're spending it tens of times if you truly want to play all of your characters. When you're thinking of it that way, why would you even bother making the gear worth trading in the first place? Then they lose money because of their stupidity in the trading mechanics.
Meanwhile, I shouldn't get more ass rapeage because I might want to use gear I bought, pathetic by GMS standards or otherwise on my other mages, even if it's just one trade.
In the end, Nexon's money hungry ways is starting to hurt them and we can even see this now.

Cause that's about what I've spent on cubes to get my gear... I don't have an exact number, but it'd be in the $200-400 range. Iirc 3 of my equips were bought/found epic, 2 unique, and those ones are still at their original ranks. The other 5 are just items I couldn't part with easily (decently scrolled top/bottom/shoe/cape/belt) so I cubed them from rare, or in one case, used an epic pot scroll. Most expensive was the top, with about 70 cubes to unique.
Keep in mind I wait until there's a sale on cubes and a "hot cube time", which happens a couple times a year, though. Rates of epic->unique are allegedly about 5 times higher. In normal circumstances I'd continue waiting for epic/unique/better items to be available in the FM, as those are undoubtedly cheaper.
It's harder to pin a meso amount on my gear cause I've had some of it for such a long time. That is, my bottom/shoes were both forged myself, with the old item crafting system, using str crystals I farmed myself, so the price is meaningless now cause they can never be replicated. I would imagine it's a few more billion in mesos, which'd be $60 extra if you want to include it. Likewise the epic/unique items were obtained in special circumstances that are hard to put prices on (I actually got 9% str unique gloves as a drop)

I'm one of those players too. In fact, the only reason why I'm even considering cubing this time is that I outright refuse to deal in monetary trading as I think it's absurd for to make such trades for pixelated items and the part of my head that says "So, think again: What happened the last time you went to the casino?" keeps reminding me that I'm not going to get a good result in a few tries so why bother when I get guaranteed satisfaction buying a nice book or going to see a great movie? I want good entertainment for my money and cubing extensively only to keep spending more as more classes are released isn't my kind of entertainment so too bad Nexon, I'm sticking to one character to do all the things your linear game has and everyone else gets things purchasable in mesos. You practically encourage your wise consumers to do this.

I agree with his points, but I'm not sure how credible it is to attack on money hungry policies or greed when your own site is literally covered in disruptive ads and as the admin he's very distant from the users, his moderation is sloppy, cold, lazy and sometimes even contemptuous. I've mentioned it before that I really became a victim to his personal procedures when he removed my work and gave me long suspension for art theft, based on false accusations without any sort of evidence stated. He worked on intuition and didn't take a moment to look at the facts. That's not what a proper head of moderation does. I didn't care for the suspension, I didn't care that my frontpaged, much liked screen got removed. What offended me the most was simply the denigration and desecration of me in front of the basilers. That wasn't the first time, I've gotten numerous wrong suspensions from moderators that fail to interpret the site rules that I think are quite fallacious and incoherent. I understand those who say I'm overreacting. I understand it can be really hard to control such a big userbase... I give him that but I can't help myself; there's certain things that I find really hard to forget.

Stereo; here's a reason (which shouldn't exist, but does) why i'd love to have the option to make it fully tradeable within the account
i switched to untradeable gear just in case someone hacked me, they'd have to shell out... well, currently, i think about 35 dollars in PSoK's just to get half of what i wear, which makes it less likely to happen (especially since i'm low on NX always) this doesn't benefit the rest of my warriors unfortunately.

Not intended to sound like an ass with this:
It's nice that you're so lucky. Unfortunately not all of us are.
Plus, as far as I'm aware, GMS is the only version with "hot cube time" and cube sales in general. I know JMS doesn't have those at all(unless they occurred during my hiatuses, but I do not remember hearing about them and I try to keep up with the news). I never saw one in KMS for the 3-4 months I played KMS either. Sadly this is another situation in which the problem isn't as big of a deal in GMS, but is for every other version.

Having trouble seeing how Basil's background has anything to do with the validity of his points here.
So he finally wanted to do something cause he became a victim of the issue? That's actually understandable. Refer to : Every person who believed random hackings only happen cause of ignorance, just to get hacked themselves.
Just saying.

In my case it's more like I think he has the same opinion, just that he could maybe get through Nexon's thick skull. It has less to do with validity/credibility and more to do with...PR, or something. At least Nexon NA actually knows the guy.

Or Mr. Basil actually knows something since he does have connections with Nexon and this is just a marketing story for himself for he can look like a hero/basilers believe he actually made a difference.
Eh...Na, probably not.

KMS had those a few months ago during the later update of Tempest. as well as everyday Hot times.

I found it ironic. tldr was/is censored on basil. (well last time i used it it was)
Yet I feel it's a great idea, It isn't going to happen no matter how much influence Mr Basil has on nexon.

I do like the idea of releasing the restrictions about sharing items on the same account, but it's an idea that will be dead in the water. Nexon never listens to its players, even those who want to improve the game as a whole. Heck, they haven't even improved their own customer service, so what makes him think that this item sharing idea will go anywhere?

Knowing Nexon, they'll make the item that allows you to transfer stuff freely in your account cost NX.

I love that a person with more influence than the average player is speaking out about this. I don't really care if he's acting out of self interest. I don't like his unprofessional approach.
... I guess that makes me neutral about his first intervention.
