Nintendo is never going to go down the path of Sega.

Nintendo is the #1 video game company by revenue. Nintendo has outsold most consoles by quite a bit, and the top 20 games sold of all time are all published by Nintendo. They have lots o' money.

The thing is in my country I would be charged like 3 times its cost due to... lot of crap. However I've got a contact in a gaming store that might help me get it much cheaper. If that happens I plan on buying one in the first quarter.

Oh btw, you all nikkas better buy a Wii U too. They already announced they are selling at a loss because their sales aren't as good as they had predicted. We can't have this be the last Nintendo console and go the way of Sega or even worse... get adquired by Disney... (dun dun dun)

Sad for me, they're all sold out and I can't preorder anywhere.

I'll be waiting in line release night, with my pre-order receipt in hand.

I also plan on buying most of my games from their shop (at least initially), as I will get the 10% back from purchases.

The damn thing won't even be available here for a couple of months. Christmas time might be a small exception, but they're going to fly of shelves like crazy.

Maybe you don't realise this. But selling your console at a loss is actually the standard. Even the $600 ps3, was, at the time, sold for a loss. It's a surprise nintendo managed to last until now without having to do it really.

Plus, right now nintendo has enough actual cash to last until 2052 at the rate they were losing money earlier in the year, before they run out of money.

Old news to many but worth sharing.

We no longer have to use the inefficient, horrible friend code system anymore. We're going to have user IDs.

Also the Wii U Pro Controller lasts 80 hours per charge, which is pretty impressive.

It's $299 for the basic bundle, and $349 for the premium bundle, which includes nintendo land, a slightly bigger internal memory (32 gig instead of 8 on basic) and a rewards scheme for buying stuff through the Wii U eshop.

Good luck trying to find one that isn't in a ripoff bundle now though.

The pricing is more to do with the UTablet rather than the console. Comparing it to an xbox 360 on it's own is obviously going to skew in favour of the older hardware.

A better comparision is a 360 with kinect, which according to amazon NA, is $250 for the crappy bundle edition (VS $300 for the crappy wii u bundle) and $395 for the the 250gb 360 vs $350 for the Premium Wii U.

The actual console is pretty cheap, the Wii U pad is probably where most of the money increase vs last gen 360/ps3s is.
