Re-vote for our Logo Contest Finalists!

I don't understand the appeal to #4. Not only can you not see the S, but why an anchor? Also it doesn't incorporate the southperry blue and white.

My reasoning was rather like this:

Anchor= Ferry
S= South

S + Anchor= Southferry= Southperry

Speaking as someone that has dabbled a bit with those kind of icons though, I think that design stands out the most after #3 and it looks pleasant enough on its own without looking horrible in the normal format or looking a tad faded out. As for the blue and white, I'd prefer that the new logo incorporated those colours but hey, innovation's good too.

I went with 2. I also like 4. 3 is good but it does not look as nice 16x16, and 1 looks messed up 16x16.

Mainly because I don't like #1, just doesn't feel right. #3 is an extractor, which is cool and all because that is a lot of the appeal of this site, but it doesn't have our colors and the letters are randomly placed. #4, I think it would be better if the S was in front of the anchor, instead of behind.

I like #2 because it looks like a skill in game, clearly has our colors, and I just consider it to be the best option of the group.

Maybe it shows that we "dust" away Mapler ignorance with our higher standards of threads and (mostly) intelligent discussion.

The anchor is the only one that makes sense. This site is named after the little port town that sends a player off to their adventure, their "Maple story," if you will. The anchor represents the, well, boating part, which is the main idea behind the city. Why would a site named after a port city have a feather or an extractor?

Nope, I'm being sincerely honest.

I agree that the logo needs changing, however I focused on winning the contest. Most people don't like change, that's why I just cleaned up the feather logo. It was really closer than I thought, but the feather still prevailed.

I just wanted to prove a point and that's what I got by winning the first round, people hesitate when given the option to change. Of course I didn't think I'd win a second round, because a lot of people start accepting something different after looking at it for a while or having others convince them. That's why I never bothered modifying my entry for a second.

I like #2 because it looks like a skill in game, clearly has our colors, and I just consider it to be the best option of the group.

Except it's by far one of the ugliest pieces up there at 128x128 and finding something scalable was one of the top priorities of this contest. Also has nothing to do with us as a site, sub-culture, community, whatever.

Because we have absolutely nothing to do with said port city beyond sharing a name, for one.

I, too, think the SP is completely unnecessary. It wasn't there in the original version, and I'm not sure why it got added in this fixed one. Can't recall anyone complaining that it was somehow lacking.

Maybe the SP it had earlier on the top left scared people away.
