If Nexon Released a "Revised" Server, How Would YOU Like it to be Done?
#61
fodjgngf Wrote:The only foreseeable way I could imagine nexon fixing bossing is by giving it a scaling feature. More funded you are the more difficult(higher HP, higher damage, different attacks+additional attacks)a boss could become, think of it like how red leaf high was different based on what your range/level was. That's all if you don't want to give yourself a handicap and have some sort of a challenge from unchanged bosses.

They also need to re-introduce the expedition modes, maybe open world wide with a better party search option cause the current one sucks and has always sucked, theres nothing wrong going with people other than the fact that they'll just loot everything in the end. Maybe an equipment share system to prevent this.

Then again this is sounding a lot like some of the systems world of warcraft had implemented.

Horrible idea in terms of bossing all that will do is alienate people who have those massive funds and those who don't those massively funded people went well and above what was necessary. Their reward being able to solo in ten minutes the game should not scale to them.

You don't know retro, either that or you're completely insane.

It's fine, I can forgive that, it seems you don't do a lot of research before spouting your opinions. But that also means you can't simply jump to conclusions based on tone. There's plenty of legitimate information there and arguments that you disregard because of what exactly? You think he's mad? What makes you any better than those "umad" dumb asses?

Curtiss;

It's that bad in khaini. I don't see anyone selling boss equips besides empress. There's the occasional CHTP with 22+ stats but thats about it. It took me a couple of days to find a goddamn work glove. Bera/Scania is a little better but again, majority of it is duped crap they have overpriced.

Oh man, guess I'm almost at the retro stage! Glitter That's what I want to tell MSEA people that prefer GMS, it's true that you guys have unnerfed rewards and drop rates but that's little comfort if you're not going to be able to find your stuff.

And speaking about pendants and stuff I really do hope they're considering to make it so that players can actually get good equips the hard but not impossible way instead of "OH YAY HERE'S MY POCKET MONEY TIME TO BLOW IT ALL ON PSOKS TO TRANSFER CYGNUS EQUIPS" because that scissors crap needs to be cut out of the damned game entirely, pardon the pun.

That or less than 500 nx. 3k nx is ridiculous, 1k nx is 50m, that's 150m for a goddamit helmet that takes less than 30 seconds to get.

It's even worse where I live. One PsoK costs 15k cash which translates to RM 36. In comparison? I could use that to eat breakfast and lunch for an entire week so I'd say maybe if they refuse to cut it out at least drop the prices to reasonable levels.

And the dumb, because my Phantom is going to have to lug it on his own with self-crafted equips with only one LUK 15% Bunny and possibly a crafted Dark Angelic Blessing to his name for the most part. And holy mackerel, literally half an hour after posting this it seems MSEA's future Cygnus equips can no longer be traded even with PsoKs after being equipped but I'm still looking for confirmation on this.

Sorry I had to pomegranate your post, there's just so much pomegranate in it that it's just dripping of pomegranate. By pomegranate I mean the fact it costs $15 to transfer an item

I lol'd at the reference there if you get what I mean. And I would have done the same because we both agree that paying money to move items once is complete bullpomegranate. You know what else is pomegranate? The fact that saving money in MSEA is theoretically defined as 'Spending your monthly budget on Cygnus equips so that you only need to pay about 210 bucks to move everything when you want to sell it because cubing again would cost EVEN MORE'.

As a PSA guys, feel free to pomegranate this post if you agree with it.

Well, We would need to basically go back in time, but even then it would be a game with no progression and people would still get bored. The only savour to old fashioned play style would be when MapleStory2 is released (if it ever is) and players may need to work as a team instead of soloing everything. Then again with the F2P model in place the game is always going to offer shortcuts in the cash shop like cubes and what not.

KhainiWest; They still need to make close to what they get with cubes: if we're being realistic, something has to give when we take. I don't disagree with anything you said but I was under the assumption that an alternative solution was part of this discussion. I know what everyone wants... It's the same thread I always see on Basil.

SaptaZapta; Then I'm going to assume every similar thread from here on out will be an "unrealistic pipe dream" thread because whatever the OP says will not stop a derailment of age old opinion. There should just be a stickied opinion thread at this point with new threads being closed and redirected there.

Completely disagree. If players were offered all things everyone agrees on, the player base would be massive like it once was. The popularity alone would compensate any lost revenue from the...couple dozen players who still buy cubes now and then.

Then everyone would agree that they would love a free cash shop. The thing wrong with your reasoning is that you don't know what the majority would actually want and pay for because for all we know, only a dozen will want to pay for any pay feature anyway. And even if we get there, I doubt the revenue from cosmetics could even touch Gachapon and Gachapon will never compare to Cubes.

I know exactly what majority want. They want a method where you can upgrade without spending horrendous amount of money. That could be making cubes droppable, to just nerfing their results so that it somehow benefits. Everyone says new content, but whats the point, how the game is now, you'll blow through any content, any pq, anything in a matter of days. Then it'll be a ghost town unless it produces some ridiculous item.

Nexon does not, in any form, need to make the money they are making from cubes, and that greed is KILLING them. How many people do you think still play, how many of those people do you see paying nexon? I can gurrantee less than a third of players even bother purchasing cubes. If you're gonna spend $300 to get the results you want, you'll buy it from someone else. Nexon never sees that profit.

So you have to consider a few things with your argument, how much profit do you believe they're making from players, and if most of that profit is just gold sites hoarding mesos/nx cards?

Ne'er so true a phrase was said Until Hyper Skills anyway. About this part of the argument I'd have to say this: I don't care whether it's changing the lines so things like %accuracy are more relevant, anything that increases reliance on cubes is not going to make it better because what's fair to one class in this scenario is basically going to pineapple another and it'd only get more pronounced post-Tempest.

CrazyForDex Wrote:I disagree. Having separate professions is a great meso sink because if you want to craft lots of different items or level traits, you need to constantly max and relearn different professions. That causes people to spend mesos and with the state of the maple economy, less mesos is always a good thing.
To clarify, by merging I mean that you are able to craft all items into one universal Profession skill while retaining the personality traits.

Idk what preconceptions you have that makes you think that because all I have done is emulate existing MMOs that have propelled this system with a good amount of success. Defense is a joke in this game and all you're doing is complaining about a change that could change it to be useful.

KhainiWest; I do not have numbers to back my claim nor do you for your claims. Arguing opinion is pointless.

I don't want to play devil's advocate: I already know what you say could be true. However, your suggestion relies on existing resources to make up for the loss of a huge cash cow. I am extremely doubtful that the sheer volume of players can be subsidized by paying players with just cash clothes alone. Do you have something new to suggest?

Locked; has posted the numbers of people logging in at a certain time at some point and it wasn't anything impressive. I mean I can walk through khaini and see how dead it is. I have over 10 thousand omok games, managing 20 games a day after training. I can barely manage 4 a day because there's no one around.

As for nx, I could apply the fact the black market is still thriving, that the biggest hackers have stopped selling, because no one is buying. Everyone has all this end game gear, which would lead me to the conclusion that the big spenders have already spent. The items are getting cheaper and cheaper because everyone either has it, doesn't know they can buy it, or just can't afford it.

I'm sticking by my claim, if players were able to get NX in other fashions within the game, or strictly nerf the current big purchasers, hundreds of players would come back. But they'd also have to do something with this top 10% equipment, make it untradeable, nerf it, or make new equipment that's stronger along with content. The point is people have lost the motivation to play, not because the content is dry, but because the resources that are available has killed what potentially could be great content.

Everyone on maplestory wants to see progression, they want to see their efforts flipped to make profit, so they can slowly make a moneyball to continue their personal progression. YOU CANT DO THAT ANYMORE. People skipped right to the top, got bored and left. Not because maplestory spoonfed you, hackers did. (not you specifically just in general).

I find these reasons more of logical conclusions than opinion's, however we need to get that fixed before we discuss any form of "trade offs". I think it's time nexon, for once, bit the bullet for us, well who are we kidding, the lack of player base is what they are biting right now.

I imagine we could go on for hours about how hackers, their actions, and Nexon's lack of action to correct said hacker actions, are a large part of the reason why the game is in its state today.

Sure, small exploits here and there aren't incredibly hurtful to a game, but MapleStory has been hundreds of little unpatched, unadressed exploits here and there, and those all together make the game the giant clusterpineapple it is today. Nexon obviously is largely at fault for some of their poor handling of game balance, and certainly for their inablity to patch exploits and manage the game. But hackers certainly in some ways have destabilized the game, and I'm not exactly sure what the best method of correcting it is.
