Anyone here carved pumpkins for Halloween?
#1
I took a shot at it. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing when I came home. I went for very simple designs. My only problem was knowing how deep in I was carving, but it still turned out alright for a first time carving.

Anyone else here did carvings and would like to share? It doesn't have to be from this year. It can be previous years too, but it'd be nice if you have photos.

I don't believe in the indiscriminate torture of gourds.

Pray tell what tools you used. I used these pumpkin carving knives from a craft store, but being only ~$5 the knives were already bending by the time I was on my TARDIS pumpkin.

I had to go out and buy a kit that had a few different size knives in it, cuz I knew that I didn't have anything at home to do it.

The blade was uhh.. I think they call it a jigsaw blade, the smallest being no bigger than 1/8th of an inch:

I bought a kit from michaels, all the blades were pretty much bent and destroyed between my friends and I after we finished carving our three pumpkins.

Wait what? That was the exact same place where I bought mines. It's always a bit whacky when I see people buying stuff from the same stores I go to. That sounds about right for those blades. I was pretty much re-bending the blades repeatedly as I was cutting, and had some help with a Cutco knife and a sturdy paring knife to make some of the bigger cuts.
