Yeah this chapter was unexpectedly awesome even if there was no action or anything. The tournament now has a long required meaning other than "ohay we're awesum lets go be #1 guild".

What if they're already living in the altered timeline, and it's pretty much up to them to make things the way they are now? I did find it interesting that Zeref knew who Natsu was back in Tenrou Island arc, but Natsu didn't recognize him at all. Maybe this arc can explain that.

Getting some serious rave master vibes from this arc now. I wonder if it's going to go down roughly the same path as the time travel in rave master did...

For some reason, I was more excited by the "Key of the Starry Sky" plot than I am for watching the anime version of things I've already seen.

All my money on that Yukino's sister = Meredy

We don't know yet what are the settings for last day's matches but I find it hard that FairyTail can come on top without Natsu. Although considering It took only Natsu to beat Sting and Rogue, watch them take a guild each and beat the crap out of them.

Well, Luxus did already beat an entire guild team (Raven Tail) on his own Luxus and Erza could definetely take one of the teams on their own.

However, I think it is unlikely.Several fights have been heavily foreshadowed that haven't happened yet, Grey VS Rufus, Luxus VS Orga, Erza VS Minerva (If any of them are going to happen, I think that this one is the most certain), and Gajeel VS Rogue.

That said, 3 of the guilds are completely out of the league of Fairy Tail (And Sabre tooth, I suppose). Realistically, Quatro Puppy, Mermaid Hell (Barring Kagura) and Blue Pegasus (Barring Ichiya) don't stand a chance in fights against Fairy Tail, Sabretooth or Lamia Scale (3/5 of them anyway, Jura, Lyon and Chelia are not to be messed with).

I'm not sure, I get the feeling that fights will be fragmented, but there won't be many 1v1s in the last day.

It'd be interesting to see what Fairy Tail will do in the next chapter. While there may still be a cop-out this part was at least written with enough suspense that we could at least expect to see a challenging fight (Also, now that I think of it...quite a number of opponents have been removed so that's less that needs to be covered). Wonder what's up with that princess?

If there's one thing I love about this artist, I love how he drives intensity in the characters eyes. Seeing the intensity always gives me chills.

Maybe. I still expect fairy tail to win. I wonder who they picked as the leader. If they were going with strongest, they'd pick luxus, but then their might be strategy behind it.

The fights are going to be interesting now though. I most interested in who will end up fighting Jura. There are very few people who wouldn't be trashed instantly. Luxus maybe? It was in Mashimas notes in one of the chapters that he was originally going to have Luxus fight Jura in the first round instead of Mistgun to a draw, maybe it happening now is why it was held off?

Plus, I can't imagine any way that whatever strategy Mavis has come up with involves letting Jura run around freely, given he should be able to pick off Grey/Juvia relatively easily, and possibly Gajeel too. Erza will probably deal with Kagura/ Minerva in a 3 way fight.

Obviously Grey wants to fight Rufus. I expect that Leon will want to join in that one too.

Might turn out that Yukino's sister is in fact Angel from Oracion Seis lol. She's also a celestial wizard. Both have white hair too.

I got no issues with FairyTail winning, my only concern is the way they win. I just hope it is up to the premise of the last day of the tournament. I see your matches plausible except I definitely don't want Erza to take both Minerva and Kagura. Minerva showed to be very powerful when she stopped Natsu's lightning fire punch with ease, Kagura beat Yukino without drawing out her sword. It'd be really anticlimatic for both characters if she took them both and won.

It's not like the two of them would be fighting as a team though: Minerva would also undoubtably attack Kagura as well as Erza and viceversa.

Luxus casts fairy law. Instant win. Admittedly, Mashima probably avoids fairy law being used if he can help it, because it's such an unfair plot device that he probably regrets making such a ridiculously powerful spell.

Despite how the First's plan is akin like an instant win, the potential extra background on her seems like a fair trade-off and it's not as instant cheat as Fairy Law so I can sort of let it slide.

It'd be really cool if this Fairy Strategy was only a plot device t show insight on Mavis at the same time we get done with the minor fights. We will find out what's this about from Grey's fight.

This. Chances are higher for this to be elaborated in the anime as filler, more than it would be in the manga, but nonetheless I really hope we get to see some sort of "what-if" reality of what'd have happened if Future Lucy wasn't there to change the past.
