I'm thinking this may be one of the better shows this season already, and there are a LOT of good shows this season on the roster. Great OST, great plot, great characters. I've really wanted an Orwellian based anime for a long time...though this one seems to be a cross between many such dystopic settings. It has aspects from the Giver (sealing a person's emotions and skills away), aspects of Brave New World (sexual inhibition is supposedly a big part of the novels), aspects of 1984 with the crushingly oppressive rules and regulations...I don't know what to think of the cats yet, but I assume they are a sort of death squad that kills off everyone that isn't excelling in school, working hard enough, or ignoring the rules. Also seems to be some sort of memory wipe aspect, not sure what that was about, but Saki seems to not have been affected by it.
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica: I can't believe they left all the interesting stuff for the very last episode. Now I kind of want a second season, but I doubt it will be able to get it.
Horizon II: This series is fucking awesome. The story, the characters, the production value, animation, soundtrack. It's amazing in every respect. It seems pretty much a given that we're getting season 3, since it's doing great in sales. However, it might be some time before we get it. I read that episode 12 took FOUR MONTHS to produce. Considering the ridiculously high level of production value, this might be true and we'll have to wait a lot for a 3rd season to happen. It doesn't matter if we have to wait, as long as we get it. I also hope the novels get translated soon.
That wraps up Summer (Joshiraku's missing subs, though). Fall starts now and it's looking pretty damn good.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun 1: It's like a whole series in just one episode! The first show of the season from Brain's Base and I did like it.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! 1: You can never have enough KyoAni. It was really fun and Rikka is insanely cute.

I passed Horizon off as a vehicle for fan-service after about 3 episodes. Not the case?
Blast of Tempest 1: I want to like this, and I think I might. But at the same time, I get this nagging fear it's going to be a trainwreck like C was. Doesn't help that the main characters have the same VA. Pretty weak way to start a show too, other than how damn pretty it was and the awesome grave fight. First half: YOU GET NO EXPLANATIONS! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR! Second half: YOU GET EVERYTHING EXPLAINED IN A MANNER THAT CLEARLY FEELS LIKE "pomegranate, WE SHOULD EXPLAIN SOME THINGS TO THE AUDIENCE" YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!
K 1: I like. Right down to the blatant, naked cat girl with heterochromia. And dat soundtrack. Oooo dat soundtrack.
High expectations on this. The action was not too much but not too little. The animation is also very impressive. And the characters are just downright badass.
SAO1-3
This anime is like a slightly bland version of .Hack//, except even .Hack// was filled with way too much psychological bullsh`it and gibberish-dialogue. Don't know how I feel about this. We'll see. Hoping it's not another uguukawaiidesu anime that makes you go "wtp Japan?" at the final episode as an excuse for an ending.

Chuunibyou - 1
That was physically painful to watch. I don't know if I can bear to keep watching; cute characters, but god damn. I think I'll just DL the ED single when it comes out and be done with it, the spaghetti levels are maximum on this show.
HnG III - 1
Drastically different artstyle, huh. The hair is a bit too big, but otherwise looks fine...one thing I'll look forward to is the insert song singles, they are all really good so far.
K - 1
Another show with great potential, and a great OST. I'm not going to have time to do pomegranate but watch anime this season, I swear.
Oh yeah, and yay for more Gintama.
Oh, and as for TLR, not even gonna bother watching until BD rips, just watched the first episode and you could get skin cancer from the amount of sunbeams. Surprised they put the Momo bathtub scene in the first episode though...along with even more proof than what the manga gave that she gave him a bit of extra "service", heh.
HidamarixHoneycomb 1
It's finally time for Hidamari tier OP+ED songs again! MORE MIYA! THE BEST TIME OF THE WEEK IS HERE AT LAST!
Busou Shinki 1
Sort of like Angelic Layer. Might be interesting, I'll keep watching for now.
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere 2 13: Honestly, I don't know what to think. It feels like there's textbooks worth of stuff we haven't had explained to us still, and this is aimed only at the LN readers, and it does amazingly well for being that somehow. That being said, the ending scene with Horizon crying, and the final title catch "Save you from anything" was really well done.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun 01: Pretty interesting. They appeared to have sped through a lot of time, I wonder if that will be the pace they'll go at.
Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shi'tai! 01: Good God that was embarrassing. Not sure if want...
Zetsuen no Tempest 01: The man is dying from what appears to be a disease where his skin turns into iron. Touch it. I have a good feeling right now towards how the story will play out with the useless dude and the dead girl, but at the same time, it'll probably end up with some hurrI FORGOTS I KILLED HER. Also, Sawashiro Miyuki & Hanazawa Kana <3
K: Seems like there's too much homolust in here. Not sure.
Busou Shinki 01: It's like watching tiny gundams that are also girls so they fight, but they also do housework... because they're girls. Do we know yet if it's a continuation of Busou Shinki Moon Angel, or it's completely alternative? Because it points towards it, but at the same time, it's not being very definite.
Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb 01: MY HNNNNNNNNNNG IS THIS WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE
Neat to see some new characters around, but it would be nice to name them too. Hiro & Sae running through the field was too cute. dat sexy Hiro pan in the hotsprings, and Yuno in the bath after... Poor Nazuna T_T I can't wait to get my hands on some 1080p BluRay NCEDs so I can take some of those screencaps and use them as background. The ED outfits were soooooo good.
Of the summer series, I still need to finish Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai, which is trash, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, which is trash, Campione!, which is trash, and Joshiraku, which is late. I got to the episode of KoiChoco where he said "I love you, but not romantically" and rage quit.

Horizon is pretty over-the-top and has its fair share of fanservice, but that's not anywhere near being the main focus. I recommend you to give it another chance.
Busou Shinki 1: I just watched Moon Angel yesterday in anticipation for the series, and it was good. The actual series seems very different, though. At least for now, the focus is mainly on the Slice of Life. I hope they change that soon, the fights are pretty cool.
BTOOOM! 1: Seems interesting. The idea of killing with only bombs is amusing. I wonder how many players are in the island.
Zetsuen no Tempest 1: What the hell is going on here?
K 1: I actually wasn't expecting anything good out of this. Oh boy, was I wrong. The soundtrack's cool, the animation's awesome, and I really like the atmosphere and that video filter or whatever.

Gladly. On paper, the show sounded right up my alley. There was just so much fanservice at the start with so little of the plot and sci-fi content it seemed like it should have.
Flonne Wrote:I watched BTOOOM last night as well.

yeah, no.
He played the game when it was still just a video game.
Now it's been made into a real life death game. You can't expect him to be thinking straight.

Watched just now. One of the reasons I disliked it was the "I even got married" note was added in Volume 5 or something randomly, instead of at the 5 minute mark, so it was completely forced, as well as the most recent enemy.

SSY 2
ah, so this is a testimonial from the future that Saki is making. I think I sort of understand what is going on based on the comment at the end.
Spoiler
Children born prematurely have a condition where they are not as easy to indoctrinate? When she makes the comment about Maria, is makes me think that may be the case, especially when she says "her condition is even worse than mine was".
JoJo 1
Man, Dio is even more of a peach animated.
Oniichan dakedo blah blah blah more imouto shows 1
I haven't seen smiles/facial expressions this powerful since Denpa Onna, I approve.
Spoiler
Just like every other brother/sister show, this guy is a total papaya, the only difference is, she is a perfect little sister who just so happens to want into her oniichan's pants quite vocally, so his faggotry is inexcusable. If this were another oreimo where both of them were equally out of sync, it might be more tolerable...still, I'll keep watching since she is the girl of the season.
How's SAO going? I've finished all the novels that are fully translated (so through 9) now, and I'm kinda surprised that they're reaching books 3 and 4... Which are in my opinion much worse than 1 (and 2, I guess), so that should be interesting to hear about...
Chuunibyou 1: I really really liked it; now to see how long that'll last...

Sword Art Online 14: I've read quite a few comments about people hating this episode and how the story is suddenly pomegranate, which is interesting. I guess they'll especially hate the rest of the episodes, especially the finale. I'm seeing people say the fight with the boss was rushed, but it's actually 100x longer than the fight description in the novel...

Some of the things they were missing was the reason why Kirito suddenly attacked Heathcliff. I was worried about this since the LNs are all done in the perspective of Kirito, and it always contains his inner dialogue about the situation, and this particular scene kind of required it. Anyways, for those who haven't read the novel, Kirito describes Heathcliff's eyes as those of someone not exhibiting concern, but pity; looking downward upon insignificant existences, like a scientist watching lab rats, combined with the imba speed he showed in the duel they had, he made a gamble and cut at him.
It doesn't appear to be explained well enough, but the idea of how Asuna was able to save Kirito, and how Kirito was able to kill Kayaba was that their "feelings" managed to surpass the system. Still feels kind of cheap with such a small explanation, but it's about how they were able to surpass the construct that is the game with their sheer force of will, a pretty common concept in a lot of media, but people are suddenly unwilling to accept it in a vidya gaem.
I will agree that volume 3 and 4 were not as good as 1 and 2, but I still found them to be good reads. I wouldn't say they were bad.
