New Content Discussion: What do you actually want?

I know this is not an idea for new content, but.. if there's a thing I want the most is NxProse (or a person with a great sense of creativity like him) to join back the Nexon Development team.

Those who, like me, have been playing the game for a long time, probably remember about the Christmas, Easter and Halloween in-game events often held during those holidays. Most of the time exciting new content was released (such as the Maplemas vs Versalmas event which also involved Masteria, or the Halloween event which released Haunted House, also known back then as the Prendergast Mansion, with all those interesting and appealing quests about Jonas and Sophilia), and it was mostly ideated by the great mind behind most of that, Prose. For those who don't still believe me, read his professional profile on Linkedin. He made Haunted House, and since the first version came out with those which I dare to call some of the best event quests ever written in the game, it's safe to suppose he also wrote them (he's a professional writer also, and wrote most of the other Masteria quests as well).

Yeah, years go by and I keep being the usual guy obsessed with particular stuff who makes repetitive posts. I know that. But I think many will agree with me when I say that those were the best years for MapleStory, content-wise. It was obvious that those who were behind content (it wasn't obviously only Prose, but a group of people with him, even though he gave the biggest contributions) actually did it by putting much effort and being enthusiastic for what they were doing.

With the departure of Prose and other guys from Nexon's development staff, stuff started getting worse and eventually it got to this ridiculous point where what they mostly do is try to milk as much money as they can from their players, by costantly releasing new jobs and cash items. One of the latest pretty good things they've released is Pantheon, Helisium and the Tyrant's Stronghold. THAT looked like some content they really put much effort into. The background music sounds definitely awesome, and the storyline seems pretty good, too. But really, how often do they release new areas and how often their financial availability actually would allow them to? But instead, they'd rather keep releasing more jobs to earn more money. Oh well, that's how business works, afterall. But it's making the game get more and more boring every day, except for some rare interesting patches here and there.

I'll end this "essay" (which close to nobody will probably read) with this: I'm not saying that if Prose came back that would solve all Maple's issues, but they definitely need more staff members like him. He loves what he does, and he's a really talented guy (just read his curriculum on that site). Only people like him could bring back those very interesting pieces of content which, personally, I haven't seen for a VERY long time.

Now, because of university, I don't really have that much time to play anymore, but the reason I don't even think about doing that in my spare time is that there is a huge lack of interesting content.

P.s.: Please, Nexon, fix Masteria. Really. It hurts my brain to see it ruined like that. Idiotic storyline, plain boring maps with copied stuff from other events, ruined great maps and much more. It's just an insult to what Prose and the Masteria team have done. If you don't have anything even remotely better for it, it's definitely better to turn it back to what it was.

I go to both of those areas fairly frequently. I like to use Galloperas still on my characters 80-100 because I honestly still find it to be pretty fast and I don't have to deal with anyone else being there, not to mention removing that area would make our current Scar and Targ helmets unobtainable. As far as ninja castle goes I am there even more often because I like to fight Castellion toad and see how fast I can get through the jump quest in there. If we were to get the theme dungeons that tear apart those areas the originals would most likely be removed and I really hate how nexon korea is being lazy and taking and then mutilating areas that I find interesting.

I agree, just because the majority of people choose to fight over the same places everyday, doesn't mean everyone wants to. Galloperas is still a great place for their level range. We need more variety in training areas, not less. If they want to do anything with it, they should balance it with other places, either raise the experience rate for them, or lower the others.

I'm actually pretty sick of new content. I think there's too much of everything: Too much types of potential, bells + whistles of things you can do to your gear. Too much deserted areas, too many monsters which are completely ineffective to train on (because their spawn is crap) or gets drops from. Too much insignificant quests or quest chains. Too many classes. I do however believe that a lot of those things can be changed for the better. Just needs some effort.

Combattente; I totally agree with you. While I know that most of the things you mentionned will never change, a realistic suggestion would be to make holiday events more interesting, just as before. Right now, they're plainly boring.

1. I want more theme dungeons, but I don't want them to replace things that we already have (e.g. turning Future Henesys and Ereve into dungeons by putting a "Mystic Portal" there or something).

2. Better training spots for 120+. Not that easy to get into LHC at lower levels and only other places you can really train and notice it a lot are PQs.

If there's some new content I want, that's probably Miracle Cube dropping from monsters. But knowing that they will never make anything like the Cash Shop cubes drop, maybe there can be some worsened versions of those cubes, just like Jett's Core system. Something like this, maybe:

Basic Miracle Cube (Untradable)
Only usable on Rare items, and does not have a chance to increase bonus tier from Rare to Epic. Has a chance to decrease the number of potential lines from 3 to 2.
Available as rare drop from Lv. 71 ~ 120 monsters. Also craftable with the use of Basic Item Crystals and numerous other ingredients.

Intermediate Miracle Cube (Untradable)
Only usable on Rare and Epic items. Has a 1% chance to increase bonus tier from Rare to Epic. Has a chance to decrease the number of potential lines from 3 to 2.
Available as rare drop from Lv. 121 ~ 200 monsters. Also craftable with the use of Intermediate Item Crystals and numerous other ingredients.

Advanced Miracle Cube (Untradable)
Only usable on Rare, Epic and Unique items. Has a 1% chance to increase bonus tier up to Unique. Has a chance to increase or decrease the number of potential lines.
Available as rare drop from boss monsters and from Gachapon. Also craftable with the use of Advanced Item Crystals and numerous other ingredients.

Superior Miracle Cube (Untradable)
Usable on all items. Has a 1% chance to increase bonus tier up to Legendary. Has a chance to increase the number of potential lines from 2 to 3.
Available as rare drop from difficult boss monsters (Chaos Zakum/Horntail/PB, Cygnus, hard Hilla, hard Magnus) and from Gachapon. Also craftable with the use of Superior Item Crystals and numerous other ingredients.

That will make potential fully accessible to everyone, without dropping Miracle Cube sales too much. If they really feel like it, make it so these cubes can also drop the bonus tier (from Unique to Epic, for example). But as long as it's a way to change potential without NX involved, I'm fine.

Make part time give us NX, 3nx per hour of waiting for one character. That way you can make everyone happy

I wish we had more land like Edelstien. That kind of content, with lots of quests.

Before this happens I want Nexon to fix the lagfest of a town that is Edelstein.
Also the only quests worth doing in edelstein are the Silent Crusade ones and the ones connected to Willpower of Alliance.

I personally want to see way more quests similar to the GFA quest that was in Mesogears. I don't even think there are standalone quests that give rewards worth getting anymore.

Mmm.. since there are nebulites I'll recomend also that to add scrolls to improve or decrease the nebulite grade, and having a chance to fail and explode! Soon ill do a little post...

I don't think Nebulites are as bad, except for the fact that Nebulite Boxes don't seem to be dropping anymore (I got 7 MMBs and no Nebulite Boxes, that doesn't seem right). If they raise the drop rate of Nebulite Boxes, then rank D to B Nebulites are still easily accessible by everyone, and rank A can be purchased off the market since they're tradable. You can't cube untradable equips without NX though.

Talking about Nebulites, I'd like an extension to all the NLC and alien stuff, to give more sources of Alien Coins (as loot drops maybe?), as well as Pico selling ranks C, B (and possibly A) Nebulites. Right now it's quite ridiculous.

I had this weird idea that gMS (or any Maple version) should add PQs that require more strategy and teamwork.
For example, my friend and I were talking about the White Lady of Perion and thought of some PQ for it.
Maybe have her control the party leader and either kill him with her or do something long term that separates the leader and the lady.

Just a weird thing I'd like to share.

I think one thing I would like to see is Nexon going back to the old way of getting item crystals. Getting them from monster drops was so much easier to me than having to dismantle a certain level of equipment with the Alchemy profession. Speaking of Professions, I would like to see them merge all 5 together so you won't need to make more than one character just get something. Also, it would be nice for them to raise the chance of getting a certain skill book for your class from Mystery Mastery Books to cut down on the time needed to obtain them so you won't have to boss all of the time just for something that you are looking for.

I would like to see nexon making some sort of algorithm that includes monster's level, exp, and map size they're on, maybe also including monster drops, so that all areas which are in the game now and will ever come in the game are more or less at the same leveling speed. When this is the case, people will go to the spots in which they like the graphics the most, or where they can find the best quests when they're bored of grinding, or whatever.

Seems a hell of a lot better than how it's now, with certain maps peaking out of the others, with new players having no idea of the better maps.

Combattente; I agree with you so much. Prose is a genius, and Nexon just took his contribution and pooped on it.
But I realize by now that Nexon is refusing to continue what he started. All I can do is stare longingly at Isaac's thread and pretend that it might actually be implemented one day.

THIS is the content I want.

Have you ever done the Ariant ones by any chance?

The reward was okay, but the questline was amazing. I really enjoyed Edelstein's Questline.

Yes I have. I believe the rewards were a bunch of fame and some EXP.
And the less I have to go to Edelstein, the better
