Thoughts on the new PvP Grand Battle
#61
Imo, It's kinda boring. Ridiculously unbalanced, Mages and Phantoms seem to dominate. Then again PVP+Maple never really works. (except sheep vs wolf PQ)

Another thing to add.

Different maps please <_<.

It gets extremely boring staying on the same map after an hour.

My feelings are kind of mixed. I think the thing I hate most though is the awkward rank system. I know on my lower leveled Demon Slayer, I've cycled through medium at least three or four times (exact same room too) before just randomly skipping to Very High, where I killed 4 people without dying and then moved back to Medium.

Also I feel like the MP things should restore at least some DF since the DS's main chain is so awkward in PvP.

I miss the variety of maps, the mystery boxes that you could loot, and the different modes. The new system is just monotonous...

The only thing I like about the new PvP are the titles from the quests... which has nothing to do with the PvP system itself.

CrazyChaos Wrote:I got that title somehow. Probably gotta die 100 times, or 50 times in a row. Those are the only two notable things that I recall doing. The title just gives charm exp and has no stats, so I wouldn't doubt it may be one of those two things. And I think I may have encountered the NL that you're talking about...

Ah, thanks, 100 deaths did it. Now I just need Bully and *sigh...* Ultimate Champion.

Whut Wrote:My main is an aran, and it's practically impossible to get all the way to triple swing either because the key doesn't register or because some broken class or another has killed me. Phantoms, dual blades, even bowmasters can kill me in literally 2 seconds, and when I take nearly 30 trying to actually get hits, not to mention chasing them. Bishops are also practically invincible. Two bishops came into the match I was in and everyone left right then. The new PvP honestly made me feel like giving up by the time I only got 2 gallant emblems. I just couldn't stand the pomegranatey control, lag and broken hitboxes (I would be affected by ranged attack that hadn't even touched me constantly, which is a huge pain.)

Exactly this. Every tap registers as an individual skill so pulling out a complete overswing requires 0 lag. Not to mention the pineappleing fact that its nearly imposible to build up more than 30 combos. Aran is prolly the most shafted job in PvP.

I can't believe either that they wouldn't fix cooldowns for PvP. Whats the freaking point of having cooldowns in the first place if you die way faster than they go through?. you can just keep dying and then coming back to spam your ultimates.

Dear Black Mage, take this atrocity out already.

Well, there goes my chance of getting a new Pole Arm.

You got 2 picks. Go hunt emblems while they still drop or make a bishop and exploit their (PVP) bronkeness.

Or... just try your best. You don't have to win, and you certainly don't have to be the best to gain Emblems in PvP.

I played it for an hour I believe, on my 13x Battle Mage and I think it's a bit slow-paced, but I found it to be pretty fun =o
People don't die nearly as quickly as they did before PvP went away, so the battles feel nice, and being in 1st place, or not isn't such a huge deal anymore.

Tried it out briefly on my I/L. Puzzled by inconsistent reach of CL (lag?), relieved not to be the OHKO monkey, those trampoline things function oddly.

Also puzzled that the DS (who killed me twice) didn't use its grabby skill. Used to be I'd get hopelessly ensnared in pixelated Dark Deadly Demon Chaos Fury Blood Chains every time I met one in PvP.

The classes I found most dangerous in PvP are F/P mages and DS really. 3rd comes paladin, but this is based on phantom's experience. I guess phantom falls into somewhere between DS and f/p mages for me. Anyways, unless its because the guy I pvped is funded out of his ass but, he was practically 1hkoing almost everybody with his flame DoT and poison mist spam (I could actually take about 2-3 of those DoT ticks) and it even goes thru holy shield and dark sight. They literally sit in their flames and wait for you to walk in there and die. When fighting F/P mages I have to play the patient game and then charge in and hope I can go for the kill.

Also, no one should ever bother going after a Mechanic for any reason; you will die. Don't do it. If you are an F/P, however, do whatever you want.

how good is the exp per kill on a low lvl char? im getting 500k-1mil on the lowest level then 1-2mil on very high on a 200 char though

I so agree =/ it needs variety.
I do miss team battle and such.. I can't even pvp effectively with my friends because even when we are placed in the 'very high' room, we are in separate rooms Tongue

Also, I am getting the hang of it more so than my first go at it, but its annoying to have to turn off magic guard around bams just to survive.
However, it's not that fun to 1-2 hit people, with the exception of Bams and Phantoms.

Good thing no Mechanics exist in Khaini.

Does Dispel work against Dark Meta/Mechanic reflect/Magic Guard? I've been taking it in in the hopes that it will stop a DS from killing me when I kill him, but I've never really had the time to cast it. I think I might just start taking in Poison Mist instead.

Look at it this way: without Magic Guard, you turn into a pirate. They have to deal with getting 1 shot by everyone while you only have to worry about it against one class in the entire game.

Isn't that depressing? :/

They need to camp their summons better, it's the only way. But yeah, they're pretty SOL without flamethrower's DoT and having crap for survivability.

Tried it once, probably going back just to gain an emblem once a day. Other than that, not gonna go to PvP seriously. I can't find a way to be decent at PvP as a drk in there. Tongue
