And Nexon Cuts Another Corner
#21
Patt Wrote:The point of the matter is they should have never gotten overhauled. Nexon is one of the largest MMO distributors in the world, they should have a support team that reflects that. Do you think that a company like Blizzard would get away with having a multi-year backlog of tickets? No, and neither should Nexon. I believe you're correct in saying that this is the first time they've actually cleared their tickets, however they've used the excuse that things have gotten bad and they'd like to start of fresh with the community many, many times, each time they've failed to deliver both in game and in their customer service.

Have you, once again, missed the point where a company who is trying to be better both in profit and quality, having to deal with their past pomegranate, now doesn't want to deal with their past pomegranate because too many pineapplewads criticize them on their past and project that onto their difficulty getting things going smoothly? And how they want a "fresh start" so they can at least be a little less rocky?

Read new tickets and actually be able to do something with them. Find and fix more new bugs and compensate more recent issues.

The whole "powerless" trip you're on is the reason I'm bothering to reply. Yes, tickets are usually pointless. Yes, a majority of the backlog is no longer relevant. You are right in those regards. However, you are missing the larger point: This is a huge embarrassment for Nexon and anyone still actively playing this game. This should have never happened. To possess a backlog of unfinished work trailing back this far is just pathetic for such a massive operation. While it is a good thing that they are finally "addressing" all these tickets and that they are admitting to a fault, Nexon has publicly shamed their customer support, something outrageous for such a business. It's Nexon admitting a ridiculous, almost humorous blunder. That's the issue here.

Yay, Nexon just humiliated themselves. But, they are on the right track, which is still going to take quite a lot of time if this is supposed to be something newsworthy in the large scheme of things.

And that is why they are trying to start fresh. Because this never should have happened.

Now wipe the pineappleing slate and stop throwing your gigantic turds at them for their past. I don't even know how you people can get them out so quickly.

I give up. Continue crying. I don't give a pineapple anymore.

I'm all for Nexon trying to better themselves as a company, however they have proven time and time again that they are incapable of doing so. Nexon can say that they want a "fresh start" all they want, but until they show me and the rest of the maple community some real results, I will continue to criticize them for their false promises.

While I'm all for wiping the slate clean, and it's not a bad idea, they made a bit of a misstep.

There's obviously some inadequate compensation here, for such serious issues.

Assuming they are planning to allow resubmission of old tickets, and provide adequate responses, then I see this as fine; it will just clean out the backlog and let them start fresh.

Now, if this is all the compensation people will get, and they are not allowed to resubmit old tickets, then I think they seriously need to check themselves.

Jamesie Wrote:I wouldn't call it cutting corners unless the ticket was reasonably recent (1~2 months max, maybe). But hey, gotta find something to call Nexon out on? I'm sure the best response would've been to just leave it open with zero compensation at all for all eternity. But hey! Let's just find something to hate Nexon for!

(Completely expected downvotes because it's Southerperry l0l)

How is discarding a YEAR of tickets better than a month or two? First of all, they shouldn't even be a year behind on tickets. The fact that they are indicates inefficiency or understaffing in their support department. Second of all, if it'd be impossible for them to handle all those tickets, that is a BIG deal. They can't just toss some random items at players and call it a day.

You can't just argue that it's better than nothing because nothing would be even more ridiculous.

I think this is a large part of why no one is listening to you/people are still "crying." You're being an overbearing ass about your opinion. There's a time and place for that attitude, but not when you're trying to prove a pretty legitimate point. Drink some tea and behave.

Because as bad as they are, there's worse. (Most of the problems with Maple Story that people complain about and blame them for are actually the fault of Maple Story its self anyway.)

nTreev (Or whatever they call themselves these days.)..... Need I say any more?

Twelve Foot Tall, who was the first to take Lunia off of GamenGame's hands. At first they did pretty well, then suddenly they made the new raids cash shop only when you get keys as drops for free in the other versions, made a character who is unlocked through a quest cash shop only, then they pretty much stopped updating and went under.....

Kill3r Combo, only hosts one game so far. (Elsword) And although they've started out great, they've become increasingly incompetent. Updates have gotten slower. (Keep in mind that they only host ONE game so far, and it's over a year behind the korean version, while Nexon NA hosts multiple games, and I know for a fact that Maple Story and Vindictus are merely six months or less behind their korean versions.) There was a memory leak a while back. And most recently, when the game's latest character came out, the game was down for most people the entire day. SOME people were able to get into the server and steal names for the character that some of us had reserved, but instead of doing the responsible thing and taking the servers down until they're fully functional, they let this persist for most of the day. The worst I seen from Nexon was when they first added 24 man raids in Vindictus, which are on dedicated servers instead of the game's usual peer to peer. You couldn't get into the raids normally, but you could still get into them by doing an annoying method, and at least the rest of the game still functioned.

And to top it all off, they have the honor of being the only NA company that is utterly pineappleing stupid enough to not remove a kMMO's Stamina system in the NA release. Yep.

Gamania/Beanfun, aka the company that hosts Maple Story in Taiwan. Take all the complaints about Nexon NA.

.....Now double them.

And I know of their incompetence first hand. They also host the TW version of Elsword, which I played for a year before the NA version was announced. When they released some job advancements, the miniboss wasn't dropping the drop for the quest. The only ones who had the new job advancement were those who bought it through Cash Shop. They insisted that they did internal tests and that the drop was dropping as normal.

.....Yep.

Endgame Wrote:Because as bad as they are, there's worse.

Bad is bad; people are still going to complain. The company is certainly not reputable; everyone I've ever mentioned Nexon to, online and IRL, knows them for their overall terrible service (though, this shouldn't be taken universally, of course).

Want Nexon to change? Nexon only has as much power as you all keep shoving into it by buying NX and/or continuing to play.

I got the same response too. The nature of this seems to be, gift everyone that lost items 1K NX and an EXP coupon, while gift people a hair/color coupon that have sent in a ticket about being hacked. They seem to have just bundled them all up without reading it thoroughly.

Most of the issues that were sent in would be about missing NX/CS, items poofing (being eaten by the storage, Frederick, MTS, etc), being hacked/banned, etc as a result of their own glitch/typo/misinformation/error and certain player concerns. This feels like the same nature response as the MTS leakage/hacking. I'm guessing if you were to send in a ticket about an old issue, they would automatically close it saying it's too old to be relevant and helped as they have to be within 7 days of the occurrence.

Expectations of Nexon vary from people to people, but most of us who has been playing their games for a long time know how they are and what they do for their players. In that regard, we're all pretty doubtful on whatever Nexon say or does.
We can only think of this action is only just to make them look good and provides an excuse to cover up for your losses.

They also write an apology notice at around every New Year, but nothing seems to have changed then. I wouldn't get my hopes up, but we'll see how it goes.

Got this same sh`it. Glad I don't play anymore because I probably would have been madder than I currently am.

Also I like this downvoting feature.

Firstly, I’m going to state that I don’t think Nexon America is the greatest company out there. Not only is that not even remotely close to being true, but I feel like I would deserve to be slaughtered for saying that. However, I do think people (especially Southperrians) over-dramaticize how bad Nexon is. Having played a game with virtually every company mentioned by Endgame (bar Gamania/Beanfun), and then some, I would definitely agree that Nexon is not at all the worst company out there. Bad, yes. The worst? Most certainly not.

I don’t know why everyone is getting their panties in a twist over them kicking out old tickets. For starters, you all at least get some kind of compensation. I just guess you’d rather (as I said earlier) have them sit there so you can keep bitching about how incompetent Nexon is ad nauseum. Are you looking for closure or something? What good is it for some of these tickets to be addressed now? I understand that some of you may still be suffering from whatever poor state that glitch (or whatever) put you in. Now of course, Nexon should not have had to toss out all these tickets to begin with, Rotosound and Patt are correct about that; but of course, that also supposes and ideal world where Nexon is an amazing top tier company.

So Nexon starts doing some reforming, undeniably making some strides to becoming a better company, if you reject that you’re either mind-numbingly stupid or just so biased that no matter what Nexon did you’d think they were trash. But of course—and this is my favorite part— is how somehow you all manage to twist it back to how Nexon is bad and/or incompetent. I almost feel like you all just want Nexon to make a mistake so you can bash them.

Locked; I love it too! I feel such a rush of power handing someone's post a pomegranate! It really is the best.

Also, if you honestly believe we're mad at Nexon for trying to be better, then you have some serious comprehension issues. We're upset that Nexon had such a massive backlog that they just decided to pitch it. That's terrible business. It should've never gotten to that point. Also, this shouldn't be newsworthy because it should be expected of a good company to handle customer issues well. You don't see headlines spouting, "Millions of Airplane Pilots Didn't Crash Today!" The fact that it's news when Nexon does something right for a change is saddening. How hard is it to understand what we're upset about? Answer: not very. Read.

Eh, my ticket was just about a royal hair issue that isn't a problem anymore.
So I don't mind the free 2k maple points.

Removes backlog to (ideally and hopefully) better the ticketing system. Not trying to be better. As said earlier, they were likely to just sit there collecting even more dust, which is also bad business. I conceded earlier that they should not have gotten to that point, however there is no point in keeping tickets that are irrelevant or "inapplicable."

While it is predominantly news that Nexon is doing right, it is rather Nexon doing things differently. (That's really the bulk of all news, though.)

Getting rid of the backlog doesn't mean they're improving the customer support system, it just means they've decided that it's not worth it to bother with all the old problems and that they're giving themselves a break. I agree that it probably had to be done, but it doesn't absolve them from their wrongdoings, and sending players a "we're sorry" letter and handing them a token in the metaphorical arcade isn't a job well done, just because they could have done nothing instead. Having tickets pile up that high just raises more questions about how they're handling the tickets in the first place. Are they simply not hiring enough people to work on them? Are they not training them properly? Or are they not providing customer service with the proper tools to do their job? I'm pretty certain that Nexon doesn't even have the infrastructure to restore items to MapleStory players or to fix billing issues in a timely and efficient manner. It just hasn't been a priority of the development team.

Comparing Nexon's service to companies that are even worse and saying "hey, they're doing alright" is ridiculous. I wouldn't play games by those other companies either.

@Rotosound: posting silly pictures isn't discussion.

FTFY. It was discussion; I was just trying to point out that his post didn't add anything to the discussion by not adding anything to it myself. It was a failed attempt at humor; my bad.

EDIT: Apparently failing at humor is grounds for a warning about "spam." I'll have to remember that next time I try to be funny.
