pemdas never fails me...though it did fail one of my high school teachers once. Not every day you get to prove the teacher wrong of the very first lesson.

How the pineapple does pemdas screw you up?

First of all there's no multiplication sign anywhere, so then it's an implied multiplication with 6/2 being the factored out constant. 6/2 is 3. So it's 3(1+2) 3(3) is 9.
