Guild Wars 2
HeroDDC Wrote:Another thing is that warriors don't really get any PvE friendly slot skills. 95% of the time I'm just better off with the 5 signet's passives.
A lot of their skills are a lot better in PVP, i don't use any signets while pvping.

And also, it depends what type of warrior you build towards, tankier ones could use the shouts + the 30 tactics shouts healing trait. But then again it just depends what they're going for in the end.

The only Signet I can see being absolutely useless in PvP is the one that gives +Power. It's like...+20 Power Passive, or 150% damage on your next attack with a 30 second cooldown. There's many better options for that.

But there's others that are great. IIRC, one is an okay passive with an awesome Remove 3 Conditions Active, and another one just reduces all damage. Plus don't forget the Healing Regeneration passive, which I find amazing.

I dunno how the Elite one is yet, though. I haven't gotten my Warrior to 30 yet.

Honestly I think Warriors will be the first to get hit by the nerf hammer. I hear people complaining about getting gimped by Warriors all the time, and even without those Signets they're ridiculously powerful.

That changes a lot when you hit 40 and can expand on your traits and skills, its just in the beginning when you're so limited an all signet and the +40 precision per unused signet is just too good to pass up in most cases. Level 40 lets you put your traits up to lvl20 when you buy the book for a gold (well if i remember correctly its a gold). But I wouldn't mind a nerf to it regardless, I'd just switch to the ability where you get 10% critical bonus while using a sword anyway.

Warriors don't have a Signet like that. Signet of Might grants +90 Power when it comes off cooldown, and 5 stacks of Might (+175 Power) for 10 seconds when activated.

You might be thinking of the Thief Signet, Assassin's Signet, which grants +90 Power passively and 150% damage on next attack - which is IN NO WAY useless. It's like getting 1000 Power on one attack. Prep Assassin's Signet and Sigil of Intelligence and you can deliver an insanely strong guaranteed critical Backstab. It's possible to one-shot other players with it if they're squishy.

Yeah I must have confused them, I played a Thief before I made the Warrior I'm on now, same race, name and armor color so I probably confused myself.

At low levels Assassin's Signet doesn't seem as useful as it might be later on. It certainly isn't +90 Power at low levels. As for the 150% damage, is it +50% or +150%? If I remember correctly, the wording isn't exactly clear in that department. +150% is A LOT more, and A LOT better than +50%, at least in my opinion. I never got to end-game with Thief so I don't know how hard hitting they are. I suppose if they do a ton of damage a 50% buff would do wonders.

I haven't run into that trait buff yet, but I haven't really looked since you get a free reset when you upgrade anyway. +40 Precision for each Unused Signet seems like an amazing buff, especially for me. I have a bad tendency to forget to use my 7-10 skills. I dunno how likely that is, at least for the Elite Signet, after looking at it, but it is currently the case with 7-9, and the Healing one is superb without using it (although of course I would use it if necessary to survive).

By nerf I was talking more about nerfing Warrior in general, not a specific skill. I hear a lot of complaints about Warriors being overpowered, and after playing one myself I can certainly agree, at least in early/mid game. I just hope ANet doesn't Nexon-Nerf.

It's not +90 Power at low levels, but it scales, so it's effectively as good as +90 Power is at level 80. The damage is +50%, which is still a lot, considering buffs like "5 stacks of Might" are only about a 10% increase in damage (actual value depends on how much Power you have from Traits/Equipment). The entire point of the skill is to be applied on a Backstab or a <33% life Heartseeker, which are sizeable chunks of the overall damage output of a dagger mainhand Thief, so it doesn't really matter that it's only a single attack.

Five Stacks of Might over 10 seconds can effectively do a ton more damage than a single +50% hit if you use it right. But with the correct application of the Assassin's Signet with an Assassin can probably take out the remainder of someone's health. As always in Guild Wars, it's all about how you use it.

Agreed. The Might bonus is definitely better in a situation where you can continuously DPS, but as a D/D Thief, I don't always have the luxury to stand around trading blows and dodging for 10 seconds, so the instant burst helps a lot.

what the heck? I changed servers to my RL friend's server, and I'm still in the same guild I was in before. I can talk to them and everything :f6:

The only server-specific things about guilds are upgrades and influence gain. Chat, is global.

Also, Dungeons and overflow are global, TP is global, friend lists are global, basically the only feature completely limited to server is WvW, because, you know, WvW. Good general rule of thumb is to just assume something's global.

I've also heard you can join multiple guilds, you can just only talk to the one you're representing.

No, you can talk to anyone in any guild you're in. I'm in a guild with some people I know, but I can still talk to the SP guild, for example. Never mind I misread. Speaking of which, no one seems to use the guild chat at all. We should do some dungeons together.

In other news, Stormbluff Isle is kicking ass in WvWvW.

The only server we're behind is Henge of Denravi, which is no surprise, given the organization they have.

Correct HeroDDC.

Switching between them is an easy/free process as well. Click button, now representing new guild. Click another button, now representing old guild, etc.

Dusk I believe he means "at a time", as far as I've observed you only see chat of the guild you represent, and using /g will have you send messages to that guild. There's no /g1 /g2 /g3 functions to talk to different guilds you're in without first clicking the represent button, as far as I know.

Wait a second, I never seen you talk before in our guild chat, and as far as I know whenever I'm on we talk a lot. Lol.

I think maybe it's because I'm not representing SP, then. I haven't seen a single [Guild] message from SP.

Ugh, that's lame then. It's basically just like I have a whitelist to SP rather than being able to be part of multiple social groups.

I wouldn't say A LOT, but a decent amount of the time. A lot of the time everyone is representing another guild.

Very relevant, my friend sent me this last night:

Not sure how recent it is, regardless I found it absolutely hilarious.

Is there a SP guild or is there just a general guild you guys are all in? If so, can I get in? I'll probably world transfer since there's hardly anything going on in Maguuma; my friend who plays it hardly gets on.

There is an SP guild. We're currently about to get an emblem and in the process of getting a Guild Bank. Anyone is welcome to join. I automatically put SPers in the second lowest ranking, which does have invite powers and access to our, uh, not-made-yet Guild Bank. I also put SuperNerd's friend in the second to lowest ranking too even though he's not a SPer because I felt bad about leaving him to be the only lowest-ranking, ha ha.

I'm pretty sure anytime Polantaris or I'm are on, we talk fairly often. Otherwise, we're all mute ha ha ha.

What is your ID?
