If you could tell Nexon one thing...
Stop being careless with your translations. Little things like a missing article or an incorrect pronoun not only irk me, but make it blatantly obvious that there is a like of quality control in your translations.
Slow down the new Pole Arms (ones that are Fast-5) and raise attack power so that they have the same speed and attack powers as Spears. Right now, they have the advantage towards speed, but disadvantage towards damage (which I find more relevant than speed,) which IMO is a horrible trade off.

It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Oh, right. Nexon.

Better yet, make his pineappleing stun like 5% or something which is still ridiculously high. I've tried fighting him a few times recently on my I/L and it took me over an hour to beat him and I only did so by repeatedly teleporting to each side and dropping a chain lightning before repeating, and even that wasn't fool-proof.
I would say. Nexon, MS is a game with a lot of potential (no, not cubes f3). You should stop using it as a resource you gotta exploit the most out before it runs out and look at it as one you got to grow in order to harvest more and more. You probably think that there are more MMO's out there coming and going and may MS fall, you still got plenty other games to keep you up, but despite being a game that is pretty outdated in many aspects, it still mantains a place as one of the most popular online games. Isn't it best to bet for a game that's a guaranteed hit than to try to replicate the same success in an industry that's growing more competitive?. MS is a one of a kind game. Don't wait until another company comes up with the ideas you should be applying to MS and then beats you in your own game.

I like it.

If GMS rebuilt everything from scratch they'd no longer be compatible with KMS.
If KMS rebuilt everything from scratch no one would get updates until it finished and that's a year plus project.

Telling them to fix their specific issues is going to have far more impact than just telling them to rebuild the entire thing from the ground up. The first is a specific measureable action with defined parameters, the second is thousands of those, with endless test cases, scope creep and who knows what else.

Rebuilding from scratch doesn't necessarily mean it will be incompatible. And developers build replacement apps all the time while the app to be replaced is still live. They can rebuild the app while the old one is still being updated and used. With endless resources (and competence, lol), it going smoothly is not unimaginable.

Oh, right. Nexon.

Give back invincibility time on MISS/dodges/etc. rather than only preventing touch damage from hitting you.

Being 'MISS'ed 4 times in a row rapidly, then hit by an attack, means your 80% avoid is effectively reducing damage taken by about 20%. It also means you can't choose which attacks to get hit by the way you can if all monster attacks make you temporarily invincible.
Mazz Wrote:I think that'd be kind of unfair for classes with insane amounts of dodge/avoid though. Maybe have it so that you avoid status effects at half the chance you dodge/block/guard? Would still be a large boost but wouldn't be unfair.

Incidentally, BGA is stupid.

Classes without Guard/Block/Dodge/Evade instead have a ton of Status Resist. There's very few classes without both nowadays, that people play at least.

Regardless, the concept makes no sense. "Hey I dodged your attack but OH NOES, I'M STUNNED ANYWAY!" If you want to make the argument that it would be unbalanced, then maybe classes should just have lower dodge/evade/block/guard in the first place. There's no reason monsters should have a 5% hit rate against you anyway.

But yeah, BGA is stupid. His Stun needs a massive nerf. ShiKage and I tried to do him last night, and I immediately disconnected because I tried to attack, and then ShiKage tells me 10 minutes later that he's been stuck in Stun the entire time, couldn't even get to the exit. What the hell is that? I guess "Nerf BGA's Stun" could be another thing to tell them.
This goes with Stereo's above post, but:

Magic attacks should NOT ignore iFrames, or whatever they ignore. It's absolutely insane. There's no reason I should enter Monster Park, and see:
Counter - Counter - Counter - Counter - Counter - Counter - 3600 Damage - 4000 Damage
before I can get 2 attacks off.
While we're on this subject, it's bullshit that Ranged classes have less range than the monsters they're fighting. I wouldn't mind this if it weren't for the fact that bosses can hit you anywhere and any time. If HT wants to hit you it's going to hit you regardless of where you are on the map. What the hell is the point of being a ranged class if I get hit just as often as a melee class?

It means that everything ever released after the point they fork and diverge will also have to be rewritten before it can be added.

No matter what kinds of delusions you're under, what you're asking for is not reasonable. What you've said is commonplace, isn't. Patches to an app while it's live, yes. A completely new redo of the same app while the original continues to also simultaneously develop, no. That idiocy is rare to non-existent because it means you're trying to develop a copy of something that's not staying in the same shape while you try to copy it. On the occasions it happens it means the team working the "new" project has to continually revise their own requirements to account for new stuff so it gets implemented in both, or as happens more often, the changes get lost entirely and have to be added back in later after the original version is dead and gone and the new one is the only one still standing, but in your scenario that's not even possible because they'd have to keep both versions alive for all the locales still using the old version because there's absolutely no way every locale could switch servers and/or clients simultaneously with only one team supporting them.

You don't have sufficient experience programming a production app on a team scale for multiple locations to argue this subject competently, so I'm considering this sidebar dead and done.

Make the free market... free? Shouldn't have to stand around in the FM entrance spamming something over and over just to sell a few things when you don't have the means to obtain a shop from the cash shop.
Like others have said increase the character slots to 24 Smile
Actually have a GM talk to people more.
Eos when are the top statements going to be picked? Also if some of those statements are not plausible will you still consider them?

While I agree that spears and polearms should be equal, speed is by far the bigger factor when it comes to polearms and spears. The fast polearms will always beat the normal spears in DPS unless you have enough boosting like decent SI and the -1 weapon speed inner ability to get you to speed cap with the spear.

Actually I do have experience programming a production app (developed about 8 so far in my career, 3 of which were replacement apps), (multiple locations lol, is just a minor inconvenience).

You don't understand that while the replacement is being developed, the old system's updates would be minimized, to heavily reduce such issues. The team working on the current system will be part of the design process of the new system as well. This "idiocy" happens all the time. It's called reality. When an an old system is out-of-date, a new system replaces it, and it usually gets developed while the old system is still live so as not to interfere with business.

And as for locales, the switching process for each would be gradual. Not all at once.

Then you shouldn't be this naive, or you don't grasp how this differs. Locations is not a minor inconvenience when we're talking JMS vs MSEA vs GMS vs KMS. Multiple languages, differences in content, differences in functionality. Telling them all they can't continue their development path for the next three years while you rewrite it from the ground up is not an option. At that point, that's called MapleStory 2 and there's a reason that has it's own team and is completely separate. "Gradual" requires exactly what I said; maintaining and working in two (or more) completely different codebases simultaneously. You are oversimplifying to the point of idiocy. Let it go, it's not going to happen.

The only really difficult thing here is language difference and this potentially being on a worldwide scale, I agree to that. But everything else is plausible. Maybe I am oversimplifying, but no one said that it would be set in stone that EVERY version needs to be replaced. I'm mainly talking about GMS becoming completely standalone. If we're talking about only within the realm of GMS, this is completely doable. New events/areas/updates specific only to said region would be the norm, less hacking activity if it's more secure/up-to-date code-wise and data-wise, glitches being fixed on a timely basis. You know, GMS is quite 'standalone' already with Jett, nebulites, masteria being first implemented there. No reason to think it can't stand on its own.
IImaplers Wrote:unless I'm mistaken. No reason to think it can't stand on its own.

You are mistaken in so many ways I can only conclude you need to go reread [thread]2[/thread]

I am done with this discussion. It's not going to change no matter how you rationalize the possibility for it.
