It looks a lot better if you ask me. And as far as I'm concerned, the biggest reason they may have changed it is because of how similar it looked to Syndra.

The AD debuff was based on the buff he got from using Rabid Bite. The two things aren't actually connected, Trundle gets an AD buff and he applies an AD debuff, it's not like Malphite's Seismic Shard.
Syndra is super fun. Not completely sure how to build her right now though. I know rushing a Tear is pretty much essential but past that I dunno if I should go for a RoA or a Deathcap or what. Someone recommended a revolver then a deathcap after tear so I'll try that. She's similar to Ryze in a lot of ways.

Rushing a Tear/Archangel's is never essential on a caster. RoA is better overall since it provides better stats and builds out of something good.

Oh. Oh really. If you use your full combo you will easily run through more than half your mana if you don't buy a tear. It's the exact same as Ryze except he benefits from the mana on his scalings as well.

Rod of Ages adds about half of the mana, more survivability, has a useful passive, and has better base stats overall (if you max out an Archangel's it does add more damage, however if you're dead you don't do damage). The reason Ryze gets Tear is because he scales with it. Doesn't matter that she's mana hungry, get a Chalice, get blue buff? Tear is a stupid buy for most Casters.

tear is actually a trap. you spend gold on it and the ap damage upgrade isnt worth it until after the games over.
grail is wayyyyyyy better... it offers relevant defensive stats in chalice in addition to solving the same issue as tear on every mana based champ (spammers arent heavily favored).

Combo mage. Spams her Q. She feels like a cross between Orianna and Ryze. I've been playing Ryze lately and it just feels very very similar.
