Absolute Ring Event
I was making 3 mules, because I could only spare 3 hours while doing all my attendance mules for chaos scrolls.

Currently only 1 of them survives, barely. Server instability and, uh, social life, prevented me from completing the others.

Also one of my attendance mules for chaos scrolls missed a day, which apparently didn't register due to server lag or something (I have a list on excel which I mark out right after I check the attendance seal is there).

haha I feel you brother. I end up doing at least one character before I go to sleep so that in the morning, I have less to worry about with all the things i have during the day. Since I figure that if you're going to have that free hour or so before you sleep, you might as well AFK in that time. the 300 attendance can finish in less than an hour for the most part, so I'd prioritize rings over 300s.

I only play about 1 day per week so I haven't even bothered with this thing. But I feel bad for those people who are trying their best on this failure of an event.

I cannot imagine just how much an Absolute Ring will sell in the future, and hence just how much I lose because I cannot afford to stay up for one hour. And no I cannot leave the computer on overnight.

I just wanted to give you a heads up for possible future evolving ring events, the box that you have to stay online for an hour to change into a potion disappears if you log out before the hour is up, but once it changes to a potion it does not disappear on log out. So you could set your computer up while you were at work or something and then set up some virus scan or something that will take an hour or more to complete and shut your computer down when it's done (so you don't use your internet/power or w/e it is that doesn't allow you to leave your computer up all night or all day). Then when you get home you can turn it back on, log in, and turn in the potion to upgrade your ring.

But I agree, this event is awfully hard with little to no wiggle room in the middle of the summer when people take vacations and stuff. -_-

It's just so frustrating how much time Nexon thinks a player in this game should be devoting during a time of the year where schedule flexibility kinda matters. They're just artificially inflating numbers like how much time players spend playing Maple, when really they're just AFK (or playing OTHER GAMES or doing something else) for a stupidly designed event and an overpowered item.

*Edit* Not working right now. Not sure why.

I think this might work for you. What it does is it waits an hour, forces the game to close, and then turns your computer off after 5 seconds.
Code:
timeout /t 3600 /nobreak
taskkill /f /im maplestory.exe
shutdown /s /t 5
Just paste it into notepad, save it as .bat not .txt (or change txt to bat), and double click to run.

Grateful to many for their post, but it is alas too late. One day is all it takes to screw everyone.

Lightning God and Tempest Ring would kick this ring's ass.

You're right, standards should always be measured using the big spenders like you.

Having this event in unison with attendance is poor planning on Nexon's part. The event requires you to be in town to accept the potion box from Gaga, but if you're also doing attendance, one must travel away from town in order to do that. This becomes problematic when one's level exceeds 160, since he then needs to hike all the way to future Henesys. Then you must travel back to town when your box becomes a potion, since you need to hand it in to Gaga. Thus, beginning the cycle anew for the next day.

These check-in events truly become mentally exhausting after awhile, in my opinion.

You're right, giving away a ring that doesn't affect the big spenders like me can be considered overpowered.

Even funnier that you think you need to spend anything to outclass the absolute ring.

Yes, because this game loves to dc you for no reason.

[COLOR="#0000FF"]Event sucks

Is it really that hard to make it 1hr total? Staying in for an hour straight on this game honestly sucks.
The same needs to be applied to stuff like exp buffs to have them stay even when you log out.

How come only the crappy stuff like cooldowns stay when you log out dc? ; - ;[/COLOR]

Yeah, I got this too.

pineapple this event. I'm sure I can get something better somehow.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still doing it. I'll probably never afford anything better than these rings, so I'm gonna get one for my main, and sell the other, cause I couldn't be bothered to do more than that. Just really annoying when you get to 50 minutes done and then it crashes. Sometimes even if you hide the crash message, maple will close later anyways.

I don't know if this will help your specific situation, but I'll share anyway. I got a very similar message previously and discovered it happened because I didn't have enough space on my C: drive for temporary files that were being created for Maple. I ended up having to reinstall Windows (virus was creating temp files and filling any available space), but it's never been back since.

Try checking your available hard drive space.

Am Buccaneer over level 160. Can attest to shitty walking being time consuming.

Now try it with crippling town lag...

Why can't this event have been handled through notifiers on the side of the screen?

To be fair, there have been quite a few number of perma mounts given away for free that solve no mobility problems completely because of flight or glide.
