3DS discussion with Tokyo Gameshow Tidbits: Ace Vs. Layton
Nope, because the shop went down like 5 minutes after the update was live.

Browser criticism:
Loads pages faster than I thought it would, however it seems to just give up on certain pages that are long. They keyboard is easy to use, and the key presses are very precise for me, though I'm using the stylus for it rather than my thumbs. Support for Japanese is fine. It sounds funny that I'm mentioning it, but I feel it has to be mentioned because you'd be surprised at how some developers feel that territories outside of Japan don't need such functionality and remove it when it's not like it was hurting anyone to keep it in.

However, there is no support for multiple tabs. There is no in browser download available (at least, I don't think so. You can't save images, which sucks). There's not many options in terms of privacy and such. History? Well there's certainly an option to clear history, but I see no option to see a list of previously visited pages or anything for you to return to. No flash support, but I expected that already. Whether Nintendo decides to get a Youtube app or something is on them.

Overall it seems like the kind of thing you'd just use if you wanted to quickly get tips on Gamefaqs or something mid-game. Or maybe Facebook or something, since I saw on some forums that Facebook works just fine on it or something.

Waiting for 3DS to get hacked so homebrewers can give the browser more functionality, but I'm not expecting that any time soom.

I'm excited for this because then Nintendo will brick a bunch of 3DS's and I will TASTE THEIR TEARS.

Nintendo can't do that, nor would it be a smart move on their part as far as keeping customers. They want you to continue buying their games, not push you away from doing business with them again. Aside from that, it is still in fact illegal for them to purposely damage your property. It's not "borrowing for an indefinite amount of time" despite what Sony is trying to push consumers to believe. Honestly, the whole rumor was started based on a line in the terms of agreement that was there from the start, just worded more aggressively. Not only that, but I'm sure hackers have sent a pretty strong message to other game companies when Sony tried to push their luck (with shady tactics, mind you, I never see anyone mentioning the fact that Sony was being a sly little dog with the whole lawsuit on various levels).

Remember how everyone thought Nintendo would brick our consoles for using flashcarts with this update? I'm loving my brand new brick right now.

And do you really think hackers would make custom firmware and still have automatic updates enabled straight from Nintendo's servers? That's funny if you think that way. The only people that will be getting bricked consoles are kids that don't understand you don't upgrade from custom firmware to official firmware, or who mess up trying to install custom firmware because they don't know how to read.

That aside, I managed to get Excitebike but the store went down again when I was about to download Pokemon. I have to say that the shop channel is UTTER CRAP. Is this what Nintendo really thought would be better than the Wii shop channel? What a joke. This layout is so horrible I don't even want to look at their freaking categories. I would rather their Wii shop channel layout than this crap.

Edit: 3D on Excitebike is surprisingly well done.

Edit 2: Why the hell are the screenshots of 3DS titles in the e-shop not in 3D? I mean, it's not that big of a deal to me but aren't they trying to market the games? Would it really be too much to include 3D screenshots of the titles?

Layout could be better. It needs dedicated sections for 3DSware, Dsiware and so on. Yes you can use the search function, but that takes a lot longer than pressing a "DSiware", or similar button would. And no, the top 20 Dsiware thing doesn't count.
Its much faster than the Wii SC though. Using a touch screen for it also makes it easier to navigate, so it's a improvement really.

I'm more pissed that several of the games seem to have a *1.5 multiplier on prices from the american ones, for no good reason.
How the hell did you get the browser?

I'm glad they gave away a game, too, even if it is a recycled one. Better than nothing.

Also, is it possible that you can download OoT? It gave me the option to for when it's released Confused

On the home menu, its the little button that looks like a blue wire sphere in the top right.

Unless I missed something, no it didn't. Did you try pressing that OoT button? Because its a link to information about the game, as well as a trailer (in 3d!)

Oh, duh. Forgot about that. Thought I had to download it.

Just went back on and it does say "coming to shops". Got confused as my balance is shown in every screen and I thought when it was shown, I could buy something. Nevermind.

EDIT: Oh sh`it. I can't remember my login info for Club Nintendo. ALL my emails are being rejected. ffs I had some Stars on it, too :x
Wow! <3

I didn't know that Samurott's leg plates are actually scabbards as well...so awesome. xP

The animations are cool and adorable~ :3

I used the browser to browse /v/ for a bit and it seems that gifs work just fine! ^_^ (Hopefully Flash does as well in the future Tongue)

I'm gonna play 3D Excitebike in a bit~ x3

Such a nice update. Smile

Also, Nintendo Points can't be used for 3DS purchases. You either need a seperate Nintendo 3DS Card or a credit card of some sort...hope this saves folks some hassle. xD

I'm also quite excited for the conference...I wonder what surprises await us~ Big Grin
Tried to link my Club Nintendo account to my 3DS, didn't work, made a new one, didn't work either. *sigh*

Pokédex 3D is awesome. Haven't really tried Excitebike yet, ran out of battery.

EDIT: You can scan the AR marks even when they're not on paper. Serebii has a list of all AR marks so I just went there and scanned a few of them right from my screen. I wonder how much the rate of getting one of those Pokémon is increased...
Wait, so Pokedex 3D is just a.... a pokedex? And it doesn't even include all pokemons? No gameplay? Just browsing 3d models of pokemons with some info?

Is that even a GAME? Like, what the heck? Who would want to buy a "POKEDEX 3D", when you can just have a Pokedex with ALL pokemons inside a REAL pokemon game?

It's a 3DSware whatever thing.
It's completely free.
Free & Downloadable? Now that's a different thing.
Only fun ive had out of Pokedex 3D so far was pressing A and seeing Emolga glide and seeing Minccino in 3D cuteness <3
POkedex is meh.

Miyamoto confirmed Links awakening DX to be out tonight in every territory on the VC
I have no idea where to buy Nintendo points so...

Never seen them at EB.
Sarah Wrote:I have no idea where to buy Nintendo points so...

For the love of god don't buy anything that says nintendo points on them. They won't work on your 3DS.
You need ones that specifically state they're eshop cards. Shop be easy to tell them apart because they'll have an actual monetary value printed on them. They don't seem to be on sale yet in the UK though
Posting this from my 3DS, and it's not really fast(SP takes ages to load). Typing works fine, it's better with the stylus (the buttons on the touchscreen are small, even though my fingers aren't that big). Word suggestions are great since I can't use a keyboard with my 3DS like I could with the Wii. I'm not sure what I'm really going to use this browser for since it's so slow though, but I guess it's nice to have.

I think it will be handy if i wanna quickly check on gamefaqs to see what to do next if i get lost on Zelda 3D, other than that, i agree its pretty slow loading for websites i regularly view.
Noticed how simple the AR markers for the Pokedex are and am currently making a template for them.

EDIT: Done!

Just fiddle with the layers to make what you want (naming scheme for layers is xdxr, with d being rows down from the top, and r being columns right from the left). Someone's already compiled an image of all of the markers in 2 parts: 1 2. Using this, you should be able to use your monitor to get a large version of any of them.

Here it is.
