Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
So there's two Marths now? One with longer hair?

I think it is just for spacing. On the mobile version of the site she has a full size newcomer banner.

She is probably just a new character in the same sense that Falco and all those were.

Also Falcon Punch is looking great.

It bothers the hell out of me that Ike, Marth and Lucina all look exactly the fucking same. Did they run out of hair colours or something? or is there a storyline explanation for this?

Robin looks great though, especially female!Robin.

I'm guessing Chrom is an assist trophy? (also what the pineapple, he ALSO looks exactly the same as Ike, Marth and Lucina)

Lucinas final smash is her canon mother Sumia running on and tripping up to knock over everyone off the stage

Fire Emblem just seems to have a thing for blue haired characters; Marth, Seliph, Hector, Ephraim, Eirika, Ike, Chrom, Lucina, etc.

Lucina is Chrom's child, and they are both Descendents of Marth. That's why their hair is all blue. As for Ike having blue hair... I have no idea, I guess main characters of fire emblem games just need to have blue hair to fit the ticket.

Seriously, no one mentioned this about blue hair?

If Lucina is in the game, there better be a version of her with her mask. >:T

Very pleased with Robin, glad it's not another ordinary swordsman. They even picked the right voice!

I'm not sure if Lucina is a clone or a alternate model for Marth, but if she's a seperate character I expect her to have slightly different regular attacks but a different base set of specials (even if they have the same special movepool). Though I'm not sure why Marth would need a clone, considering they made an effort to make all characters different in Brawl.

Justin Wrote:For some reason, Lucina has the box of a veteran, while Robin has the box of a newcomer... but Lucina's page has the newcomer tag on it, so do you think it's possible she's just an alternate costume for marth? In the video her attacks quite literally identical to Marth's. Only differences I can see so far are potentially her idle animation and taunts are different.

Granted, it could just be for spacing purposes, but it still seems odd to me.

The whole "Wakes her blade?!" calls for questioning. Master troll Sakurai could be at it again.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Lucina is just an alternate costume rather than a completely different character. She does have a fan base, so the devs might have thought to give her a proper welcome over a single Miiverse post.

But I am very glad for the inclusion of Robin. His/her system looks really unique, so people hopefully won't view them as 'another generic sword user'. And while Chrom isn't in the roster... I'm happy that they at least decided to include him as a dual attack final smash. :]

pineappleING A-!

i mean, i'm not too much for lucina since i can see her getting replaced when smash5 comes (and she seems way too similar to marth) but i prefer her to marth myself.

BUT FEMROBIN, BRB RAIDING MY LOCAL STORE FOR A WIIU

edit: holy pomegranate poor chrom.

Have you guys never played Fire Emblem: Awakening? Lucina is the daughter of Chrom and in the beginning of the game is disguised as Marth which kind of explains why she seems like a clone.

As for being a Marth clone, they haven't showed many moves but all the ones they showed are similar to Marth. There is a big difference though, it seems that the moves have way less landing lag: http://gfycat.com/FineSentimentalGecko

I don't know if the E3 build was super slow but this is insanely fast. It looks like it's been L-cancelled.

we should start calling differences casual differences and competitive differences by this point. sure, competitively she may be different than marth, but from a casual look "hey that's marth's down+b, that's marth's side+b, etc"

she's supposed to not be a copy of marth though, although then again, who knows if chrom's style IS the same as marth's since that's what lucina uses.

also i'd call you out on those spoilers but by THIS point anyone getting spoiler'd has nobody to blame but themselves

WELL GUESS WHO'S NEVER PLAYING FIRE EMBLEM THEN ;__;

Honestly, I should give the series a try since the characters look so interesting but strategy type games aren't my thing. :<

well don't worry, of all the spoilers that's the most minor one. who lucina is and a few other things are bigger spoilers. and i'd give awakening a try, you can play in easy mode where units that die only do so for the mission, it's pretty casual and it's not really that strategy. (plus most people play it for all the shipping and character interactions, which are INSANE in this last iteration)

PD: each fire emblem is a separate story a few are connected like 9-10, 6-7, and i think 1-4? but yea, you can play fire emblem allright.

Woah woah woah woah WHAT!?

When the balls was all of this announced and where!?

That aside, really surprised they made Lucina her own character rather than a skin for Marth.

Having less landing lag doesn't necessarily mean that it's specific to lucina though. If lucina alone had that level of landing lag (literally looks like melee L-cancel level of landing lag) and not marth, i can't see marth ever being picked. It's the same as the roy vs marth argument, marth at least feels faster and attacks better and roy therefore is s'hit in comparison.

I think it's more likely that based sakurai and nintendo actually listened to the feedback from the invitational and the landing lag is a universal change. If it really is L-cancelling, i'm not really sure how i feel about that. It's a melee tech so of course i'm happy if it's there but many people also agree that L-cancelling doesn't really add depth to a system but that it's more of an artificial raising of required skill. I'm sure L-cancelling would fix a VAST MAJORITY of problems people have with the gameplay though, and the fact that they would add it means maybe nintendo is all "we want this game to be bigger than melee is" now which is too glorious for words .

Are there any other instances in the trailer where we see that kind of landing lag? Edit: Nope, guess we'll have to be on the lookout for future gameplay to find out. :/
