Just got a Pendant of Spirit from my feather. Didn't even get the box, so I guess it just completed the second part, but not the first?

HellenzSin Wrote:I clicked the event when i logged in, but when i checked my feather wasn't there I have no idea why, so I forfeited the event to get the feather. I got a pendant of spirit... so no box for me today. Maye, you'll get a pendant too. Well, we'll find out in 4 minutes when this one finishes. EDIT: Yup, they patched it. It gives you the pendant of spirit anyway. FUN'S OVER, FOLKS.

I got back on. It looks like it kicked a few people off + locked out some accounts for a couple of minutes.

I received a Happy Time event box today and got the ETC slot coupon. The event is still going on. It might be because I finished the event yesterday and received my Pendant of Spirit yesterday.

I'm glad the cube thing got fixed and although I enjoyed happytime while it lasted...that too. BUT I can't help but to notice how fast Nexon acted on these when there was potential NX buyers that could be lost with free slots, prots etc. Which makes me wonder why they aren't as fast fixing and banning hackers. They can go strong for months, and still are.
I sometimes feel like they're in no rush with hacks or exploits if it keeps their cash coming.

It's funny that people are happy that the Happytime glitch is gone but Stack Hack and DC hack are still there...
And just got a lvl 200 familiar

Oh well, could have been worse). Several allies and buddies complained about getting only a pendant, but of course none of them got a pendant yesterday. The event is now behaving the way Maple Admin said it would from the start: after you receive a gift, you must wait for the pendant. If for some reason you fail to, then the next day you will only get the pendant.

It's almost like you're blaming Nexon for being a business.

Players quitting from not wanting to deal with hackers running the game (AGAIN) You know what's the funniest part about that happy time box? A lot of the stuff in there hasn't even been in the CS in months. How can they lose money on something that isn't even buyable? Why the hell that box should be at the top of the priority list is beyond me.

The box is at the top of the priority list because it is NEVER a good idea to give out unlimited quantities of something that you're trying to sell for not free. How many prots do you think could have been farmed over the course of a month? More than enough to mean when they come back to the CS people aren't going to buy them as much. This isn't even considering the inventory slots which ARE available. Just because something isn't in the CS doesn't mean they can't lose money giving it out. That's a silly assertion because they lose money in the future, not in the present. If a cellphone provider gave out free cellphones that weren't on the market yet do you think that'd come at no cost to them in the future? This problem effected their bottom line. Maybe not immediately but definitely in the future. As a business they have a responsibility to fix any problems that effect their bottom line. Unfortunately almost all problems effect their bottom line. Thus they pick the ones that have the largest and most direct impact and fix that first. I would be ecstatic if they fixed all hacking. But it's not realistic. Realistically we're all still here even with the bannings and the hackers. The ones that spent money still do. Some leave, they're eventually replaced by others. Ultimately hacking doesn't cost them nearly as much as giving away free inventory expansions and prots.

There is no "course of a month" to farm because the event is only for two weeks in the first place. The odds of the protect scrolls were incredibly low, as well. I only got 3 over the course of the 2-3 days the event has been available. (With mules included, mind you.) At this point in time I'd say Nexon has no intentions on releasing wards or innocence scrolls in the CS again anytime soon. And with the release of 150 equips in KMS, and not too far behind, our localization, there will be plenty of money spending to be had by the players who get the new equipments. Nexon is the one shooting itself in the foot over and over again with the completely assbackwards mentality that it has when it comes to hackers vs normal players.
If a bug that even remotely benefits normal players comes around, it gets patched within days. If a completely economy breaking hack comes around and is COMPLETELY WIDESPREAD, nothing is done. For weeks. STILL nothing has been done. You speak about the future when you're not looking at how potentially damaging these hacks are for the game's future economy at the same time. And if there's no economy to speak of, no one will want to do anything on maplestory. A couple of silly slot expansions that no one buys unless they're on sale in the first place and items that haven't been available for months won't do jack pomegranate to their bottom line. The company will still make billions. Billions which it does absolutely nothing with but pocket for their own self-desires. They don't put their money back INTO their games to keep them running smooth. As long as it's "functioning" and not a dead horse they don't give two flying fucks what is going on with it.

Not to mention that paranoid, frightened and thoroughly pissed-off players are typically not good spenders. They're still earning a lot, but that will disappear over time if players realize that they could get banned for a variety of stupid reasons and get all of their purchases invalidated seeing that people spend because they intend to play.

The odds of prot scrolls were around the same as the odds for everything else based on what I saw. You can't possibly know what their intentions are with wards and innocence scrolls so that's a moot point. As for the release of 150 equips that's great time for Nexon to release exactly what you said they won't. Who doesn't need wards to perfect their weapons? A completely economy breaking hack? I don't know about you but the economy in Khaini seems pretty fine to me. How long has this hack been out? Weeks? I see no difference. You know who's making a big deal about this hack? All the funded high levels who can't Empress anymore. The VAST majority of the MS community can't do that. It's the vocal minority that's making a big deal about this stack hack. I admit it should be patched, it's a significant hack, but it's no where near as game breaking as you claim. People said the same thing about PG hacking and look how game breaking that was after being active for months. There have ALWAYS been hackers and botters. There always will. There is no magic solution to get rid of all these problems. You keep saying there won't be a future economy in game. This has been said again and again and it's never materialized. Is there inflation? Yes. Has it completely broken the economy? Not even close. You're making assumptions about company policy because you're angry at them for patching a glitch and you knowing exploited. The stack hack is a problem yes. Is it any where NEAR the scale you're trying to make it seem? No it's not. Perhaps they haven't figured out how to patch the hack yet. It takes time to work out bugs like that. It's possible they got the fix for this first. Are you suggesting they don't implement a fix for an OBVIOUS exploit until they fix a hack? |
