What2doNexon
People act like this is the end of maple. This hack doesn't even affect anyone. The familiar hack is more serious.

But it sure is kicking the dog around.

Takebacker Wrote:I didn't deny they would be MTSed. I didn't guarantee they would all be flushed from the database either.

The hackers wouldn't make the items if it didn't mean USD for them. Nexon would delete them if it didn't mean USD for them, too.

This is what it all amounts to. It's getting nexon more money because retarded fucking players actually buy these obviously illegit items with hundreds of dollars in pre-paid NX. And that's music to Nexon's ears. It's all about the money. Always has been with Nexon America.

It's funny, i play this game completely solo. I don't do party quests, i don't do pvp, i don't do bossing or any of that crap, i just play because i enjoy playing. Hell, i never even use the free market unless it's absolutely necessary.

Some hackers made some hacked items, so what? it doesn't affect me. It's not the "end" of GMS because a few unlegit people have hacked gear. You are all exaggerating.

Yeah i want Nexon to fix it, but it isn't going to stop me playing in my own way in the meantime.

It is for me.
As I've stated in a previous forum:

 Spoiler

I don't see a reason in playing a game the company no longer cares about.

Train in ******g garbage places cause you wont fix a simple ******g file edit?

Hime Wrote:No, because a fix is in the works and we're having the GMs step up their patrol.

At least it has some vague resemblance to an official statement. Vague.

Oh, and her response to the non working 2x drop event:

LoveVictim Wrote:Nexon can definitely reverse those items, they did it for HTP's back when hammers got released and people scrolled 5x stat HTP's.

Sad part is some of those items were protected by people who shoved the HTP's into Storage since Nexon apparently doesn't check the Storage for dupes/exploited items.

They did, but only for people who used two hammers, those who used one hammer escaped under the line (since an HTP could be chaosed).

The parallel thought is this: if nexon sets a line to say this is reasonable, and wipes out everything above it the line will be pretty high to hopefully allow all the heavy cash users who made a legitament equip to not be affected by their clean sweep (if they even do one). There are doubtless some "smart" hackers who figure this might happen and have some lessor equips that don't look too impressive but are much better than available now to the average mapler. Bring those out after the clean sweep and sell for lots.

GM patrol is now 2 I guess? aha

At least there's something in the works thoughSmile May not have to quit now..unless*waits and sees*

She also confirmed a fix for the Evan SP glitch
Hime: "Hey Evans, after testing and identifying the cause of the issue, a fix will applied during our next scheduled server maintenance for the NX Mastery Book skills that were affected by a SP reset scroll. More details will most likely be available on the maintenance message. Thank you."

Hime's acknowledged the issues multiple times on the forums & twitter, but it doesn't seem like they're gonna shut maple down like Mabinogi.

If you ask me, expect an unscheduled maintenance sometime today/friday. Doubt they'll leave it in this state over the weekend.

Well, yeah. http://www.nexon.net/corporate/careers/benefits/

From a Business concern standpoint, this is a dumb move. Winter holidays is their second biggest peak after the Summer holidays. Why would they wanna be understaffed for that?

From the employee standpoint, getting a full week off for Christmas is great.

It really is about the money with Nexon America... why can't the KMS team just come over here. I haven't seen GM's EVER since like 2008 or so. Donde esta?

That statement refers to the familiar hackings, not the hacked equips. Far as I've seen, they've made no statement about these equips.

"In the works" is nice. When will it be finished? After all the 2x events, of course, during which we will have to, as bobbort put it, train in garbage places.

Also the 2x drop... she'll report it... might be fixed in time to give us two days of 2x drop out of a promised 2 months. But who's counting?

I totally agree with you. It seems Nexon has a huge fear of spending money on Human Resources. Personally, I think it's dumb, because I believe customer service is of utmost importance for any Service business. But Nexon sees (huge) revenues, and therefore doesn't feel the need to invest in more HR (beyond essential staff).

What they could (and should) do, though, as a more cost-effective solution, would be to really up the ante on their anti-hacking automatic tools. For example, the auto-ban system could get a major face-lift. They need to setup more complex parameters that could potentially catch things like the familiar hack, or duping and enhancement hacks.

Additionally, stronger account security is an absolute must for Nexon. These are things that could be developed in Korea, thereby not requiring too much man-power from Nexon America.

At the end of the day, though, I think the best (virtually free) thing they could do is COMMUNICATE. Honestly, they are clearly aware of their issues. All it takes is a small "We know. It will take a while, but we know, and we will fix it" on the main website. But for whatever reason, Nexon feels it's better not to acknowledge any of their issues until they absolutely have to.

This ^^^
And maybe hire some people who actually play MapleStory on a regular basis. I would work for Nexon for minimum wage if it meant telling them what the hell is wrong with their own game. What on earth are they even doing over there? Don't they get 90% of the updates from Korea and just translate them to English... fix a few things and whatnot?
