LongShotJohn Wrote:Out of curiosity, are snow levels generated at random? So long as offline alpha is free I might as well see what I can get there. Oh, also, how exactly does farming work such as this placing grass underground stuff you guys keep talking about. I made a hoe, but I'm clueless as to what to do with it.
Ive no clue about farming, but the first world i ever had generated was filled with snow.

Everyone around me was trying out Minecraft, so I decided I would give it a shake.
But apparently it tries to render every block that the camera can "see", making my laptop lag massively when I look in certain directions. FUUUUUUUUUUUU~~~~~~

"Tiny" is where it runs smoothly without exceptions. Seriously, not going there.

I doubt it would work on free, but could anyone hit me up with that SP server currently up? Given that I was surprised with how offline could be accessed, I just thought I'd give it a shot.
Also, I'd rather not go through dozens more videos. I'd just like to know how to obtain the starting materials for farming. Is it only through those monster chests?
EDIT: Oh, and I got myself a snow stage. Loved being able to run over ice til I got hopelessly lost. Anyway to get that view map thing on offline? I know I can make a compass to find my spawn point eventually, but those red things are hard as hell to find. Also just got that sound glitch; not fun being boomed from behind without knowing what the heck just happened.

I could link you to a working offline mode of the full game... (You apperently can't access the full game on offline mode with out playing the full game on online mode...) Its what I'm using untill I can pay for the game.

You don't have to do anything round-about at all to get alpha for free as far as offline goes. I downloaded it during last weekend's free session, deleted it once I thought it was over, was told in maple alpha offline was free, downloaded it again from the main site, then simply hit log-in without typing anything into the fields. It gives you the option to play offline. I was just checking on the off chance that if I logged into my non-premium account (or so it says as I try to log-in to alpha) that if I had the direct IP I might be able to play multi-player.
...Unless there was an implication somewhere there that farming is on a newer version of alpha somehow available through online mode.
Also, found my first gold, what should I do with it?

Gold armor and weapons, pickaxes, shovels, axes break really fast. Gold isn't good for those things, it's more so a decoration ore.
