Pitch hack
By the way, did any of bacon's victims get banned?
Sarah Wrote:By the way, did any of bacon's victims get banned?

I doubt it, since that's the method hackers stored away hundreds of chaos scrolls. Duey is the land of no ban.

Also worked to save precious 52-stat pends.
Uh, there is a huge difference between HTP glitch and pitch hack.

Explain the difference please......not being sarcastic btw...

Not in terms of evading Nexon's random action spree.

People who duey'ed stacks of chaos scrolls got away unbanned.
People who duey'ed 52 stat pends never had them reverted.
Here's the thing, and by no means am I saying the chaos scroll bannings are all innocent, but Nexon releases some form of glitch/hack/abusable event nearly every time they patch this game. And they have no consistant method of dealing with the results.

Chaos scrolls = bans
Big Foot exploit = warning > ban
Boss Token / Witch Belt = head in the sand
Horntail Pendant = revert
8x exp w/ family reps = head in the sand

How many people do you think went and said, well I better buy some chaos scrolls now before they patch it and then im sol like the witchbelt scenario.

You never know how nexon's going to respond in any given situation, and many times you end up losing out because nexon gives people a slap on the wrist when you try to play by their rules and the rest of the community ignores it.

Perhaps if they were to standardize their responses it would lessen some confusion, and a zero tolerance on glitch abuse would keep much of this from ever happening. But because they allow some to slide you end up with situations like this where pretty much everyone's unhappy to some extent.
There's reports on SW that people who bought Chaos through MTS got banned but those who abused the glitch and didnt go through MTS are fine, one person had a friend show them 900 Chaos scrolls on a mule and they didnt go near MTS...thats just like Nexon to ban the wrong people.
I heard a buch of 19x players were banned, I went up 1 place so this might be true.
So everyone should stop doing whatever they are doing with chaos scrolls.
I believe the reason they are banning everyone is because they do not have the ability to determine who duped an item. If you have 100 chaos scrolls you must also be a duper. I don't think it should be necessary to ban people who bought them from MTS mainly because they had to spend NX. If anything they should just refund the NX that was used but delete the scrolls from their inventory. I think this also proves that NEXON cannot track the flow of items such as trades. They can obviously tell it was duped, but they have no way of seeing where it was duped from or finding the characters that actually did the duping.
After seeing how everyone is reacting about the false bans, tell me.

If you were the one that had to solve this problem, what would you have done?

Think about that and then complain
Check total Chaos Scroll numbers from Log 1 (before the hack started)
Revert Chaos Scroll numbers to Log 1.

Not even sure if this can be done; but I don't see why it couldn;t.

No, you cant do that as far as I know, Nexon creates restart points every server check or so

I'm sure if I was running it, or many other competent people were running it, this problem would not exist. Remember, this hack was simple. No fancy programs, just a packet editor and copying an item purchase.

I think he means by character since you get those every time you trade/log off/cash shop/mts/buy or sell from an npc.

It would probably take too long though because they would have to go really far back. Not to mention any person who had them since the beginning of the hack might have leveled. Well, not like it matters since they were most likely banned anyways
Best way to fix this would be to check inputs. If an 'account' owned more than a certain # of Chaos Scrolls. Check to see how many #'s of Chaos Scrolls they sold, along with the price of each individual scroll. Then check how much Mesos they gained. This is a way to find out if a person has abused it. This is all I can think of, really.
Also, just want to say this in regards to how obvious this is. My dad just phoned me, he plays games but has had minimal experience with MMO's, so I decided to pose this "hypothetical" to him.

Common sense.

Thats a reasonable way of solving the problem, but that is easier said than done, those things thake too long.

Nexon had 2 options
Ban the ppl that seemed more like the hackers
do a LOOOOOONG rollback

What if they sold none, but used it to mass scroll. I don't think NEXON paid any attention to how much scrolls a person had before the check, just the ones who were holding it during.

Ooor the game has been updated, or an Event is on, or GM's are giving out items, or any number of reasons for the said item is now easy to get...since everybody seems to have 1600 in their shop it doesnt automatically mean theres a glitch or hack at work.

Just being the devils advocate. Wink

I'm sure if her dad knew it was NEXON and was familiar with their lack of GM's and useless events, I'm sure he would know it's a hack.
I still disagree that HT pendants was an obvious glitch, lol. Regardless, this glitch was fairly obvious. Towards the beginning of the day when prices weren't so obvious I can understand people no knowing they're a glitch, but when prices rapidly decreased as more and more people became fully aware of the method, it became obvious that this was not intended.

Nexon has repeatedly stated that if it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't worth risking your account over. When are people going to learn..? x_o
