Character worth
ImagineAll Wrote:You have to understand the group of players that we play with. They're arguably the strongest players in our server, and the feelings of inadequacy while bossing amongst them and doing less than half of the damage they're dealing is not a good feeling. The desire to keep up in DPS is an on going challenge and is a big part of the game for many players. Who's to judge how someone else plays the game as long as it is in accordance to the rules of the game?

The HP isn't only for training either. It's beneficial at PB and starting on the left at HT. I disagree with people saying HP washing isn't necessary, yada yada. It's beneficial and makes things a lot easier. Being able to tank a hit from Ariel and not having to waste time avoiding and/or getting rez'd is a significant increase in DPS. Try fighting PB itself as a warrior without being extensively washed.

HP washing is still not necessary. It's almost useless past the amount you need to take a hit. Most people don't wash to be able to take a hit, they wash because the mentality on MS is that more HP somehow helps you survive better and that unwashed players will all die the instant something attacks. Millions of dollars are then sunk into getting more HP. I don't mind people who HP wash, but it is really not necessary to this game and the huge must-do-this-and-make-Nexon-rich notion held by most people is one of my biggest pet peeves.

My stats are extremely bad compared to the people in the flaunting thread. They still only outdamage me by about 20%. "Less than half" is a total exaggeration.

The problem is that some of the big boss monsters will 1hko all ranged characters even at lv 200, unless they have washed like 600+ times. Even a lot of the "mid range" bosses will 1hko all regular hp ranged chars at lv 200.

Never did I say it was necessary. It's been my position the entire time that HP washing is an entirely elective process from player to player. I do feel, however, that in bosses that deal high damage it does make a difference in being able to take a hit. Survivability is all that it is about to me. Any other excess washing is not necessary in my opinion.

I was referring directly to myself when I said that (Sorry if that wasn't clear to you) do half of what the other people (of the DrK class) are doing. Appled I could break just over 40k. Meanwhile Peter and David are both doing low to mid 70ks. Not exactly double, but close to.

What the hell are you talking about? The only boss that an unwashed ranged character cannot survive at at level 200 is PB (although it's still possible to avoid the 1hko moves). What is mid range?

They also have roughly 30-40 levels on you. Scale yourself up a bit higher and the discrepancy becomes smaller. People seem to have a tendency to underestimate levels these days :f6:

I was describing current cirrcumstances. I'm well aware that their levels are a large factor in their damage being superior to my own. That doesn't change the fact that they both have well over 50 (and that's an underexaggerated number) attack on me. Scaled to 200 they'd still be doing 15k per hit per crusher more than me.

Just because I don't touch base on something does not mean that I underestimate it.

Do you mean per stab or per crusher hit?

If it's the latter, then it's just a matter of percentages at that point. Let's say 70k per stab, 210k total. You're doing 65k per, so 195k total. They only have a 7% edge on you at that point.

If it's the former case, it does widen to 20% but, as Dusk mentioned, is still far from half or 40%.

I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot tonight...

I specifically mentioned my damage at it's current state for the fact that I will not get to the level they are. So if you want to work out 40k*3 = 120, I believe Peter's max theoretical stab with echo is somewhere around a 76k stab, so...76k*3 = 218k. A difference of 98k in total, not going to bother working it out, but I'm going to guess it's somewhere between 35-45%.

BF, Crow, Anego, Bodyguard A, Bodyguard B, The Boss, Feudal Lord, Big Toad, Wulin Yaoseng, Wulin Yaoseng's Clone, Golden Giant, Crazy Myou-z-Ke, Evil Spirit Giant...I thinks thats most of them.

Those are also all World Tour/Region-unique bosses too, aren't they? I swear, the people who make those always go kinda overboard. :f6:

Don't forget the bosses from Neo Tokyo as well! Though most of the regular enemies can actually be survived just fine without washing.

Yeah, but how many people have a perfect weapon? At this point that could mean 165~ atk, which is at least 35-40 atk more than the typical player just on its own.

Apples do help... if I have 170 atk and someone else has 220~ atk, that's only ~18% difference with Apples. It's big, but how much is a perfect weapon even worth? Not something I can imagine affording at the rate I earn money.

Why do random World Tour bosses matter? We won't get 75% of them, and some of the bosses you listed ARE ACTUALLY MADE FOR RANGED CLASSES. You're seriously going to complain that Grandpa boss can 1hko you?

On the other hand, in Khaini at least, Buccs (and shads I think) get into HT real easy because of their party buffs. I'm only 137 on my Bucc and I will be HTing soon.

Doesn't say much. My FP was already guaranteed a HT slot when it hit 160, and my Ranger is guaranteed a HT slot when its lv 130 lol

Perfect weapons are becoming more and more common with all of these new scrolls that Nexon keeps introducing. That's not to say they're so mainstream that every player has one, but I can name on hand problem 30 perfect weapons and their respective owners in Windia alone. It's to the point that it you have 5-6bil and a litle luck that anyone can make one. (Hell, xxGodlyNLxx made a perfect sleeve with 2x30%'s and 7x50%'s).

Those two parts do not match.

Sure they do. Any mapler has the capacity and the means to make billions of mesos while playing. This belt event alone I've seen people make double to triple that just from selling coins and belts. If you're smart and manage your money well there isn't a lot that has to be done to make that much :3

Yet again people confuse the term average with "a few of my friends".
Not even a fraction of the people of Maple ever, in all their years, held a billion mesos. I'm not even sure they even made a total of 1 billion during their gaming.
Sure everyone can make that kind of mesos but it requires either a keen sense of marketing and loads of time, or as in most cases, lots and lots of real money invested.

Point me to where I said average and your argument is valid. Ohh wait, I didn't. I said every one can earn that much mesos. No where did I mention my friends being wealthy. If you invest the time into merching you can easily make that much. We all started from scratch at one point ~

You do not need to use the same words to say the same things you know, but that was mostly directed to all the ones that presents oblivious claims about an imagined standard of players, such as crap like it is common with billions upon billions of mesos as well as perfect gear.
