Kenpachi refuses to learn kendo, or even use both hands on his sword because "it is not his style", even though that multiplies his power by 2. you think he will want to control whatever power he unlocks now or learn anything new? He will just get more full of himself and keep swinging his sword with a hand like the maniac he is.

At least if he learned Shikai, his sword would look different while he wacks it around...

No, that is exactly what I am complaining about. If you watch the fight of Kenpachi and Noitora, he said Yamamoto tried to teach him to fight with the sword, yet he "finds all that pomegranate a pain in the ass" and "that isn't his style". What I'm trying to say is Kenpachi wont try to learn any new techniques with his new unlocked power, he will just wack his sword like he already does, and that sucks.

It wouldn't look any different, his sword is almost certainly already in Shikai, just like ichigos was after his first Urahara training (despite not knowing it's name until much later).

Ehm. Am I missing this from some part of the manga? As far as I remember he doesn't know the name of his Zanpakuto, therefore it can't be in shikai.

Ichigo was in perma-Shikai automatically due to his overwhelming spiritual power. This was before he even knew the name of his sword.


Given that Kenpachi also has overwhelming spiritual power we can assume that his sword is also in a perma-Shikai mode despite not knowing the name of his sword.

The scenarios are different for both. Ichigo did have to learn the name of his sword before he could get it back. And I believe the reason it is in perma Shikai is not his rejatsu but the way he got it. While they all are given their zanpakuto after joining the Gotei13, Ichigo had to find Zangetsu within himself. In any case, using this argument not to give Kenpachi shikai or more abilities is nothing but a cheap excuse from Kubo.

I think it was acid and burned his pomegranate off. Considering the ending of the series coming...I imagine the later being accurate

And Kubo just got married in December. Oh boy

This chapter tried to be so poetic out of a dumb premise. I saw no pomegranate... at all. Unohana releases her bankai for the first time and nothing happens. The melting had most likely to do with Unohna diying as she fought, hence Kenpachi perfectly well at the end. This is what I call true waste of a chapter and true waste of a character.

And now Kenpachi is stronger, with no evident way to tell, he will jus kick ass as he already did while getting beat at the same time.

Sigh. This entire sequence was so disappointing and I fail to see the point in drawing it out so long.

I will laugh when Unohana kills herself because "she is no longer needed now." Unless Kenpachi manages to cut her in half.

If Byakuya can survive after being ripped into a giant blood splatter + all that drama involved, surely Unohana can take a stab to the throat!

But seriously, iirc Tousen was stabbed in the throat as well. he didn't die until Aizen sliced him up or something. We'll just have to wait and see what Kubo decides to do to her though :\

So basically Unohana was only needed for like 10 chapters at most in the whole story ? Hopefully not because that would be the most disappointing thing ever.

I thought just a moment ago we were following Renji and Ichigo at the crazy zampakuto guys place. Now the story suddenly jumped here.

I think I need to read the past 5 chapters again to get a better picture of things.

I'm totally lost here. Why are Kempachi and Unohana fighting? Why does Unohana look nothing like Unohana? Kempachi killed Unohana? WHAT.

I thought just a moment ago we were following Renji and Ichigo at the crazy zampakuto guys place. Now the story suddenly jumped here.

I think I need to read the past 5 chapters again to get a better picture of things.

unohana realized that kenpachi exponentially gets stronger for every near death fight he gets into. one with ichigo, one with nnorita, and his near death experience with fake bach. unohana is the best candidate to fight kenpachi because if she kills him, she can then heal him and when hes healed, hes exponentially stronger until zaraki eventually is stronger than unohana, thus truely passing down the Kenpachi name.

Ichigo finally lost the favorite competition lol renji is the new main character.... Jk expect next chapters to be Ichigo flash back

Woohoo, kenpachi learned his name to his sword, had to listen to 8 pages of urohana saying "I'm dead, be happy, you have friends now!". Ichigo get's rejected...per usual, where I'm sure he'll prove he's not a shinagami, but better than one.

So wasting a whole chapter with all that poetry from Unohana wasn't enough, they had to waste half of another one. At first it didn't make sense to me why Kenpachi suddendly can hear his sword, but I suppose since he had blocked his own power, he also blocked his sword away in other not to grow stronger. It's such a pity Unohana just dies like that though, at least her death is better than what Byakuya almost got.

As for Ichigo... back to his roots? He got sangetsu from within himself, either he does that again or... I just don't know

I'm sure he'll prove he's not a shinagami, but better than one.
