There was no fire in the prison he was in, may I ask why is it so hard to think that the lavabender is just so damn good he can crush and move rock with such prowess he can make any rock into lava?

He lava bended in his prison? I don't remember that. I'll have to rewatch that scene. If he did, that's pretty interesting, but also confuses me about the writers' own response to it.

Wasn't he in a wooden cage or whatever, and only got to earth bend some rocks that new evil air bender threw in? No lava at all.

Edit @v Really? I should re-watch then, I can't remember that at all. o_o Though I guess all 4 had to have some special thing they could do, to earn special prisons. Did the water chick do anything special yet?

The airbending guy threw him some rocks, he lifted the rocks with earthbending, turned them into lava and started spinning them.

I remember the spinning disc blade thing, but I don't remember it being made of lava.

Edit: I see it now. Yeah then I don't get why they said it requires a firebender, when he's clearly doing it without firebending.

 Episode 9

Water arm lady and lava guy split off from Zaheer and combustion lady, and lava guy is able to lavabend alone anyway. Must just be that he's really good, all 4 of them are pretty remarkable as benders. The Red Lotus backstory was quite cool, and I like that Zaheer sees himself as more of a protagonist than an antagonist, even if he is still being super shady and irritatingly vague when talking about the 'purpose' of his group.

Yea I think lava bending is just moving the earth so quickly that it heats up, or creates friction. Maybe only avatars were known to be able to lava bend by mixing fire and earth but he found a new way.there's so many benders so there's bound to be many imaginative ways to do things.

Earth is lava at 700-1200 C. That's a lot of energy to produce (manipulate? convert?).

Considering there's plenty people in the series like the factory workers who can generate lightning (which is several times hotter than the sun), producing enough energy to melt some rocks isn't that unfeasible. Between water benders being able to control steam and sand benders existing, I'm surprised we haven't seen a lava bender sooner.

That said, their group makes me wonder if Zaheer will do something unique like making vacuums.

I can't find this episode anywhere online and it is really annoying me.
I found only one place to watch it, and the sound quality was so terrible I didn't even bother.

If you get the Hola Better Internet plugin (I have it for Chrome, dunno if there's a version for Firefox/anything else but I would assume there is) you can change your country to USA and watch them directly on the Nickelodeon website: http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/legend-o...isode.html

Once you have it installed you just click the icon and then click USA and it should connect automatically, it's pretty easy.

I liked that we finally got more information about the bad guys, but I kinda hate that the Earthbender guy can just hardcore Lavabend whenever he wants with no preparation. It seems pretty ludicrous. He's basically a Firebender and an Earthbender at the same time, which is kinda ridiculous. One of the main things about Lightning Bending was that there was that large boot up to it, and while Azula used it a lot, she also still had to regular Firebend in fast paced situations. This new guy ALWAYS Lavabends, which is stupid. It's like they needed a way to make Earthbending more dangerous, because let's face it, the only person who was an amazing Earthbender in combat was Toph. The only reason the Dai Li ever did anything constructive was because of those hand claws, and Bolin isn't exactly that great in combat (I can't remember him ever doing well in a fight).

I did like the start up to this episode a lot, especially the part where Korra had no treats for Naga. Naga in general was hilarious this episode, really reminded me of Appa.

I agree. There's not enough episodes left to end this this season in a way that would be pleasing. I expect an annoying cliffhanger ending to the season.
