Tales of Graces F
Miek Wrote:I find the music in this game really bland and ultimately a huge disappointment :|....

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS AUGH.

They seriously weren't trying. No really... the one track in that underground chapel dungeon was LITERALLY. THREE. NOTES. OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER.

What the crap.

Aside from that, enjoying it so far. Much more serious in tone after just playing though Symphonia. Learning each character is worthwhile and stops me from getting bored with random battles.

also, death to MP/TP systems, CC forever. I hated the orange gel spam of previous generations. (not sure how vesperia was with that.) I love being able to use skills as much as I want. Glad to see them moving with the times.

I don't take reviews seriously but... the Game informer review made me laugh. it claims its a monotonous 8 hours to reach adulthood (where it gets good according to the review)... which amazes me. because it only took me FOUR hours to get to that point. and I'm the kind of obsessive person who insists on talking to every inane NPC along the way and fighting every chance I get. If me doing that took me 4 hours, I can only imagine the level of suck the reviewer has to take 8 hours.

Cheria's swimsuit is so gooooooooooooooooood.

I watched a couple of streams and it's just Asbel spamming Neutral X, or Infernal Torrent and Incineration Wave. I mean, I know those two are really good, but still. It's a travesty when you see Cheria using Assault Style when she's not healing, and she's not using Freeze Rain.

What's everyone's thoughts on all their artes so far?

I also went through the child arc with my friend on Hard and stopped when we got to Orlen right before the dog , and Sophie and Malik are so overpowered at those stages.

Also, for those Fate/stay night fans, Final Boss's Mystic Arte is definitely Unlimited Blade Works, right?

Two bosses who I BELIEVED to be the last bosses kicked my god damn face in. I still won, but god damn. I need some good grinding spots. And not the arena. Any good spots for GROUP levelling? >_> I also find regaining CC after you start hitting 15+ max CC to be a pain, and it leaves you open for far too long. Any means of regaining CC faster? I block and parry and it still doesn't seem to help enough for me to actually keep most boss's attention on me. I also quite firmly believe bosses are scripted to target your healers in particularly just to be douche bags.

Monsters are programmed to attack healers if they can. Critical Hits help recover CC faster. Guarding increases your critical and CC recovery rate. You can dualize some CC recovery gems, though I wouldn't recommend this. I never really had an issue with recovering CC though. Just fall back and guard a bit. Parrying should recover a lot of CC.

Try grinding at the final dungeon? Or the most recent dungeon you're at? Uncharted Desertstretch (I think it's called), just west of the town that has the Carta game and then south has like retardedly high level monsters that, if you can kill, should give more EXP and SP. And by retardedly high, I mean that the scorpion types can probably OHKO you. And I don't care what level you are. Finish more requests for SP? Equip some more foods that provide SP/EXP for the battle?

haha I'm going to avoid those mobs in the desert. I wandered over there during the earlier parts of the story and almost got a gameover after not saving for a good 2 or 3 hours. I think those mobs are in the 90s or so. I'll wander around and try some stuff to see what works out.

I'm probably just overexaggerating how long it takes to recover CC because of how frantic these boss fights are. Even a few seconds feels like an eternity when the bosses do 75% of your health or your teammates' health in a single hit/combo if you're not keeping the boss's attention. I do appreciate that this game is genuinely more difficult than other Tales games I've played. Much more difficult.

in the Adult era and decided to call it a night there. I'm liking the battle system, but being the mash happy guy I am, the CCore limit gets to me a little lol.

The game seems rather difficult even for Normal mode, I can't wait to die horribly once I get a hold of "Chaos" mode.

hope you're ready, and I hope you and your sisters are good at blocking and dodging. Some bosses later on will make you want to rip your hair out.

I've been trying to learn it over the course of the game so far and I'm absolutely terrible at timing it lol.
I either time it too early and the enemies guard break me, or I time it too late and get hit before I can put it up.

Dodging is awkward, I dislike how the "Control" of it changes every time you move directions. Example is when I dodge to the right and I hit "Right" again, I'll just back away instead of moving Up (Character's Right).

On my alt file me and my friends started doing evil mode with my buddies. I've never had to carry so hard. Good thing I played sophie till we got Chaire or else they would have been pomegranate.

Ex. Sophie lv 18, them 14 <due to the fact they don't block, but they are learning>

I just want "ALL" of their dlc to come out.

Also guys, buying the dlc means 90% of that goes to Namco so they'll be tempted to import the next game. So far, the news sounds like it's green light for Xillia to hit.

I am mostly waiting on the DLC for Asbel's Haseo costume and Sophie's Miku costume.

I think it would be a pretty big mistake to not green light Tales of Xillia, the best selling Tales game since Tales of Destiny (?). It also has the graphics to back it up against non-tales fans, and the prologue of the game is actually super cool on Milla's side (haven't done Jude's yet), unlike Graces where you play as the kid for "up to 8 hours" if you're really bad.

DLC titles won't count towards any trophy or awards in-game, as far as I'm aware, or at the least, the total count is of everything available without DLC, and you can have the DLC in its place, but if you're a completionist whore you wants to buy it, I guess. Xillia is a terrible example of a company knowing that they can get away with tons of DLC though. There's like one costume for each character enabled by default. Costumes of course are superficial though, and shouldn't impact your game-play so much that OMG THIS GAME IS THE WORST BECAUSE MY CHARACTER KEEPS THEIR DEFAULT LOOK THE ENTIRE GAME.

That being said, IdolM@ster costumes are clearly the best ones.

Is there an Airship in this and if so, when is it available? On my way back to [hide]Warrior's Roost to take a boat to the Lastalia.

Alright, I beat the original storyline. Do I continue to the future arc, or is there stuff I should take care of first? I'm not sure if I'll miss anything by going on with the story.
