That was one weird ass shiny anyway. I mean I thought it looked awesome cause it had blue, but still weird. I'd think if anything it would be white and red or something.

Like with all the pokemon in the game now, trading 1 at a time is horrible. And I hope the way you transfer from b/w > x/y won't be stupid. = 3=

Also we should have item trading system, it's annoying that the only way to trade items is to attach them to pokemons.

Pokemon Amie is more useful than expected.
Quote:The unique feature with Pokémon Amie is that after you have utilised the feature, you will come to see various effects in battle. These features range from superficial to largely beneficial for the trainer which allows for greater strategy in battle. Most of them occur randomly, with the rate currently unclear. The effects known are as follows
Text: The introduction message, and various statements throughout battle change in context
Critical Hit Ratio: The ratio of Critical Hits is increased
Evasion: The Pokémon's evasion is increased
The following may be attributed to Pokémon Amie based on the visual representation, but it still isn't clear
Paralysis: The Pokémon has a chance of healing itself from paralysis
Survival: The Pokémon has a chance of enduring a hit which would have knocked it out

New 3ds apparently coming out to go with pokemon x and y's release

I guess they realized people were saying price is too high and it made people not want it, or people like me were crying cause no money ; - ;
It's kinda ugly though, but I need pokemon x/y.
But I can't even put it in my pocket =_=
But really the 3d wasn't even needed imo, a lot of people I know played with it off, and I'm not sure if it was possible, but maybe they could of used the money/time for enhanced graphics or something.

I read about this earlier today, and my first and current thoughts are: so fucking stupid. Everyone keeps saying "it's being marketed to young children, so it's excusable!" No, it's not. The design choices for this portable handheld console are just... bad. Bad, bad, bad. Even from a marketing standpoint. The only real pro that it has going for it is the fact that it's 40 bucks cheaper.
Also: Nintendo, in case you forgot, the "2DS" already existed, it was called the "DS".

2DS
SuperNerd; As far as I am aware, the DS, DS lite, and DSi can not play 3DS games. the 2DS can. that's the difference.

I realize that, I was just making a sarcastic remark.

It's a cheaper version of the 3DS without the arguably useless 3D feature to bump up the price.
The design being for children is a bit of a stretch. It's design is not just useful for children, it's for everyone. pineapple the Nintendo DS/3DS and their shitty hinged top screen that breaks if you so much as fart near it.
It's a cheap alternative that fixes one of the biggest design flaws of the 3DS. yes, totally useless and without it's pros.
You didn't even mention any cons, just "I don't like the design, wah"

Again, that was sarcasm. A joke, it wasn't a serious statement.
I am definitely not an advocate for 3D features in entertainment media. I hate it in movies, and utilizing 3D effects in video games is a bit of a stretch, but useless? No. In many of the 3DS games I've picked up in the last year, the 3D effects make the cutscenes, the world, the animations absolutely beautiful. It's can be very cool. And I've seen some pretty unique uses of the 3D effect in games. Gimmicky? Absolutely. Useless? No. But I suppose that's up to personal opinion.
People must have some kind of super-strength that I am lacking, because I have never broken any kind of device I own that has hinges and/or folds. By removing the ability to fold the console, you're taking a portable console and making it significantly less portable. Take a look at your 3DS, unfold it, extend the height a little bit more and that's the size of a 2DS. That's absolutely obnoxious. Not to mention now one will have to worry about mucking up, scratching, or even breaking the screens twice as much now. How about the awkward design of positioning the buttons on the top screen, making the lower screen end up in an awkward position between your wrists, making you look down even more? Or how about confusing the hell out of the less-gaming-educated parents and grandparents when they shop for their kids/grandkids? They're going to want a bunch of 3DS games, but the handheld they want is the 2DS. I can already see the constant questioning at retail stores.
But these are just my gripes with it. Even Nintendo itself declared that it is to be marketed towards children of younger ages, and you know what? That's fine. This thing is absolutely going to sell like hotcakes during the holiday season, that's a fact. I just feel that it is a rather pointless and oddly designed device.
And for the record: the pro that I mentioned, about it being cheaper, it IS a huge pro. I like the fact that it's cheaper a lot, I mean a LOT. The 3DS has a fantastic library and I'm all for letting a wider audience who previously couldn't afford the handheld experience it, but at the same time, I also feel sorry as they have to experience it with a clunky monstrosity of a handheld "portable" device.

It looks like a tablet with 2 screens, ahaha~
Doesn't look like I could leave it snugly in my pocket, though. I hate carrying around bags.
And aww, no dongle..

I personally have not had problems with the ds hinges (hell, my brother stepped on my first ds and the hinges didnt break, although the top screen did ). I will say the SP was much stronger though. Mine went through hell and back and only incurred minor scratches. One of my friends collects old SPs and swaps parts to make multicolored ones.
Back to pokemon, I wonder how dark and fairy will match up?

Back to pokemon, I wonder how dark and fairy will match up? DS lite hinges were very bad. Mine broke after probably 2 years of just flipping it open. The plastic is too fragile and cracks, and then gets worse after the slightest crack starts.

I'll probably buy one since I'll probably only be playing Pokemon on it anyways. I kind of just wish that Nintendo would nix the double-screen get-up. It was a great idea for the DS, but then by the 3DS I feel like they should've strayed away from it. If one of the biggest design flaws for the DS family (incl. 3DS) is a flimsy screen, they could have easily addressed that by killing one screen. Not to mention so many games I played (on the DS at least) the second screen was rarely used for something other than an annoying gimmick.

which DS we talking about? because my DSPhat is still going strong, and i can't stop telling people that my brother BATHED with his, and the piece of crap still works (he broke the top screen and hinge somehow though, but it still plays GBA games!)

The hinges on my regular DS broke, but the ones on my DS Lite are 100% fine. The R button on my DS Lite is fucked, though.

Indeed it does appear quite durable... and I love my pikachu 3DS XL. The size is awesome... can't go back to regular 3ds now. Though just to be sure nothing too bad happens to it, I got a transparent casing for it as well as the screen protectors. It still fits in my pockets both while wearing shorts and jeans/pants, which is always great.
