The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Polantaris Wrote:Soy Milk then Libra is the best combo ever. Soy Milk's massive damage reduction is reverted but you keep your tear speed. It's ridiculously OP, but you need to get Libra after you get Soy Milk or it doesn't work.

I never get Chocolate Milk unless I have low tears as it is...so I never grab it. I have more problems getting Ludivico Technique, and I always do terrible with it in the end.

I've heard about that, but the problem with that is you have to rely on finding Libra soon after or your run is most likely doomed...

I'm neutral on Ludo. Sometimes it can be great, other times... not so great. If you could still use the mouse to control your tears I imagine it wouldn't be quite as bad.

"dark bum now takes two hearts to convert and can now spawn spiders in place of soul/dark hearts"

Soy Milk is a pretty good tear type without Libra, though, at least in my opinion. A couple of tear effects and it's powerful as hell.

So based on some replies on Reddit:

The Spider change from Dark Bum is very low (1/5 if not lower). Still pretty dumb. They should have increased its cost in the Devil's Room or something, it's pretty sadistic the way it is now in my opinion.

The Halo of Flies thing DOES deal with orbitals. Apparently if you got more than three, the extra appeared on top of previous ones. The reason for this is unknown, however there are a lot of posts saying that this has not affected blue attack flies. If true, there was probably some bug related to there being more than 10 at once...although I still don't know the point of the game doing that if it's true.

Also, the game now detects if you're using mods. Specific files are checked, and if changes are detected, make it so that you cannot get achievements. This is good because people were using mods to make The Lost easy, as well as Challenges and other things like that.

Dr. Fetus really is crappy right now. The risk of self damage is pretty high, there's a big chance of missing enemies and the damage + infinite bombs don't not compensate for it. Ipecac is much better.

For some reason I got SMB super fan pretty early. Guess I should count myself lucky.

SMB Super Fan isn't Super Meat Boy. The fan is unlocked via Challenge #14. There's an unrelated achievement for getting 4 Meat Boys, and doesn't actually unlock anything, but is required for Platinum God.

I have it too

Polantaris Wrote:The Super Meat Boy and Bandage Girl achievements are stupid right now. The Book of Revelations guarantees a Horseman spawn on that floor (if you haven't fought him yet I believe), however using it in the Utero/Womb gives you Conquest instead of Death, which makes it nearly impossible to get Death unless you're just plain lucky. I think I've fought Death at most twice so far as a regular boss. I also remember resetting all the time in the original game for getting Famine on floor one...and now I can't get him on one or two when I want him to spawn. Add to this the fact that you can have 3 of one and then get the other one from the fourth horseman. It's just plain silly right now. I can see myself never getting those achievements simply because of this in its current state.

 Spoiler

I don't know if this is worthy of spoilers but it may ruin the point of the achievement for some so I felt like doing it anyway.

Not being able to blow open the other walls of a Secret Room sucks.

Managed to get Godhead last night, so my item collection is now 100% complete.

...Sadly, all I'm missing now is the bloody Meat Boy achievement and I've been at it for the last 6 hours. It's such BS. I stopped just trying to get it the way you're "supposed to" with Book of Revelations, because it's just way too fucking unreliable. Started trying the Pyromaniac/Sharp Plug/D6/Monster Manuel way and it's still proving to be a huge pain in the ass.

Sometimes it takes upwards to an hour to finally find Pyromaniac, and usually, once I get a run rolling on, I'm never able to find the Sharp Plug in the shop, no matter how many times I visit them/reroll their items. And the TWO times I did manage to get both Pyromaniac and Sharp Plug, I wasn't able to get a way to regenerate health (no explosive shots/no bombs/no rooms with enemies that deal explosive damage), so I simply couldn't do anything. Sooooo infuriating.

When I do these sort of runs I'll usually only stick to god rooms, since they can give you things like Scapular and Habit, both of which are great for rerolling items, plus you don't have to give up your health like you would in devil deals. Most of the time I'll end up finding Habit before Sharp Plug, then I'll use that to force a Sharp Plug.
Fanny Pack + Gimpy are two fairly common items that can be a decent source of healing as well, and they pair well with D20 spamming if you decide to do that. Spamming the D20 to get some full health pills/cards could be a good idea too (you can drop trinkets/cards/pills by holding left Ctrl, so you can move them to any room you want).

It took me around 100 Monster Manual uses to get a full Meat Boy + Bandage Girl, to give you an idea of how much of a health pool you'll need.

Funnily enough, after I complained about it here, I finally got the run. I'm now sitting in a room, re-using Monster Manuel over and over, and healing off the damage with Dr. Fetus.

I'm pretty sure the game is trying to give me the middle finger, though. Been spamming it for nearly an hour now, probably over 200 uses. I've got a level 3 Meat Boy, so all I need is ONE more Cube of Meat, but the game is being so incredibly stubborn. The salt in the wound? I put together a level 4 Bandage Girl and the game has already made a second level 3 one too, before giving me this last Cube of Meat. It knows how bad I need this last item and it is making sure it draws things out as long as possible. I can't even see Isaac anymore, he's covered in bloody familiars.

I guess peaching about the game on forums is the secret to making things work, since as soon as I posted this, the next use of Monster Manuel gave me the last Cube of Meat. I have now achieved glory.

Congrats!

I've been complaining for days...it doesn't work for me. I can't even get the game to give me Pyromaniac, and the other day I tried a Book of Revelations run and got Conquest for the Womb/Utero boss (almost cried in frustration).

Thanks!

And yeah, I'd have to say that those two achievements, the Meat Boy and Bandage Girl ones, were even worse than all of the Lost stuff combined. It's just wayyyyy too reliant on RNG. Near the end, I just stopped trying with Book of Revelations and simply went for the Pyromaniac method, but I feel your pain with that way too. Sometimes it took nearly upwards to an hour and a half before Pyromaniac showed up in the Treasure Room, which sucked as most run attempts ended in failure. I heard that Sharp Plug + Scapular works for infinite item uses, as long as you get reduced down to half a heart; that may be a lot easier than trying to find an explosive tears effect to heal off the damage. It'd be a lot less tedious, that's for sure.

EDIT: Scratch that. Probably doesn't work as well, since Scapular only works once a room.

By the time I finally got all 4 Cubes of Meat to fully form Meat Boy, this is the number of familiars I had amassed this:

Sad thing is, you can't even see most of them. Those are only the ones on the topmost visible layer.

Scapular requires you to leave the room to get its effect again, so it doesn't work for this purpose.
Another way to do this would be to get Jera+Blank Card+48h Energy pill, fill up a room with those then start rolling the Monster Manuel.
