The Legend of Korra - Book 2: Spirits

This episode, I really liked it.

So sad at the end. I can only hope that Korra can undo the mistakes dealt from years ago. Also:

I'm ghey for Wan

Saw both parts now. That was amazing. And I thought Aang had a huge burden on his shoulders.

Wan>Korra on my list of favorite avatars now. Maybe if korra stops acting so angsty she can move up but, wan was pretty likeable.

Finally got to watch it and all I can say it's that those humans advance really slow, 10k years ago(if not more since 100~150 avatars seem way less than the amount of statues in the southern air temple, unless of course most avatars died young) they were china ~3.5k years ago(maybe more not 100% sure), I guess you could say they became really dependent on the powers and that maybe there weren't that many non benders back then(if all humans lived on lion turtles and each one gave them powers I'd guess there weren't many if any humans without powers) but still 10 thousand years should be enough to have come up with way more stuff they have right now.

Other than that what does Unalaq want with Vaatu? Does he wanna become some sort of dark avatar?

That was definitely the best episode they've had this season, even if it was a two parter.

This was basically "The Winter Solstice" for this season. It's actually exactly the same thing. Korra was shown the past, much like Aang was, that told her what she really needed to do.

Happy the amnesia storyline actually ended quickly and was used for a good purpose.

Not sure who's a bigger jerk of the week in this episode, Varrick or Unalaq. Varrick for what he did to Mako, or Unalaq for neglecting Desna and caring more about opening the spirit portal.

Varrick, definitely Varrick. Unalaq might had gone crazy and forget about his son but he is just a crazy mother fucker with grandiose complex, Varrick might look crazy but he is sane and knows well enough what he is doing.

I feel like before this is over, Unalaq will be revealed to be "controlled by Vaatu," so that Korra's Uncle isn't a horrible person and killed/imprisoned. To be fair towards that possibility, how would he even know about Vaatu? Plenty of people have gone into the Spirit World yet this is the first we ever heard of him, meanwhile Unalaq talked to him like they already had a plan and that it was all going bad.

I guess it was expected that unalaq was in league with the dark spirit all along. Suppose that means tenzin's undermining of his spiritual knowledge isn't quite necessary since he probably told unalaq everything he needed to know.

I'm not really understanding how the whole varrick situation is going to tie in with the spirit world situation. Maybe once the portals are closed again he's going to try and incite war anyway to make money?

Given the previous episodes and how the things have been turning over and over again I wouldn't discard that Varrick is a good guy after all.

Mako getting arrested directly after refusing his offer and investigating into his shadiness kind of screams that it's him. I hope it isn't though because a twist like that where he isn't a bad guy would be amazing.

I know I'm like two months late, but I would REALLY LOVE to participate in this discussion, especially because this thread has mostly become a series of spoilers that I'm tempted to open. However, I haven't even seen the first episode, so if someone could point me in the direction of these uploaded somewhere, that would be great!

This is the last time I will watch the series online after it's aired. All this buffering on the videos is pissing me off. Having to wait 20mins just for 5 minutes of non-interrupted viewing is not the business...
