OT: there's a lot of wasted potential here.. i was hoping they would both be around at the same time and do combos instead of tagging in and out :\

I'm interested in that Link Skill. (For the 10% Damage Reduction, not so much the 5% Defense Ignore. Especially not after they gutted Defense Ignore.) But I have to get Zero to 180 for it?

My highest leveled character is level 169..... yes, I know Zero starts at level 100, but still.

Do the Story Quests give Zero a significant amount of EXP?

How far along do you have to get before they can use Evolving World and Dimensional Invasion?

Every single video i've seen has been 95% Zero Alpha, using a Zero-Beta skill like once.

What's the point of having a tagging system when people only use Zero-Alpha.

Who cares if Beta's the one with the slow, heavy damage attacks? As long as Alpha's the one doing the fast and quick attacks, people are obviously going to use him for the DPS. Nexon should've thought this through.

Well I guess there probably will not be one of those 13.5 hour 200 races. Zero better have a really engaging storyline.

Instead, in GMS, it will be filled with bitching and moaning about how people are not gaining EXP from killing monsters and how the class is broken / glitched.
Hilarity will ensue.

Same thing happens with GMS Luminous. Apocalypse is almost rendered useless because the light side is simply better for grinding. But for a boss run, it's best to swap and use Equilibrium for the burst damage.

Alpha/Beta looks similar. If you look at their masteries, Alpha gets speed, an almost-capped attack speed, and wide attack areas that hit 8 targets on every attack. Beta, however, gets more sheer attack, plus 7% extra damage for each target less than max, meaning she basically gets +35% single target (boss) damage. She also gets 100% Stance and +30% resistances, both of which are far better for bosses and not as important for grinding noob mobs.

You do realize every character in the game looks like either a loli or shota, right? The super deformed style doesn't afford many other ways to depict them.

Pretty sure nexon intend it this way. They did specifically sell them as "one is build for mobbing and one is build for bossing" I guess the tagging is just a necessary tool to give players access to a job that literally has EVERYTHING. I mean looking at all the stolen mobility skills lol. Zero is the mixture of all the "GOODS" of every job we ever known plus equipment spoon feeding(not complaining here)

This is also part of the reason why I was looking forward to having 2 characters to play

PS:After seeing spadow last screenshot, I think I can understand why people just go 95% alpha. Other then that being obviously the superior grindstyle, players are also limited by the keyboard. Your fingers are going to be all over the keyboard if you plan to display all the attacking skills of alpha+beta.

That logic applies to every character in maplestory. Thats exactly why all jobs but Angelic Burster have the option of choicing the gender of your character.

The issue here is that both female and male Aran got an unique charm, which turned into both being equally popular after their release. It didn't happen with Evan because Male and Female Evan were way too freaking smiliar and anyone after had its gender defined from release.

If at any point they decide to revamp Aran's history line, they will have to choice a gender to stick with so I hope something as trivial as "both are popular" doesn't become an obstacle.

Anyways, after finishing those and looking at some videos, I have to say I think the main thing I'm interested in for Zero is the story line haha. All those people in the red clothing at the beginning of the tutorial work for the Black Mage and lied to Zero Alpha to keep him away from Zero Beta. Although if they were smart, they wouldn't have put the town so close to the temple she was in LOL.

Am I the only one that plans on using Zero Beta most of the time since she's a girl?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but they share equips right? Apart from their own weapons, that is. Maybe I should re-gear my hero in anticipation, #shadlyf is becoming dull.

I plan on using Zero Beta most of the time. not because she's a girl, but because her attacks are more visually satisfying in my opinion. The slow, powerful attacks look really good, and the dark damage numbers look cool.

Zero Alpha's attacks are too similar to the revamped Dawn Warrior in my opinion.

They definitely didn't sell Zero as 2 chars which you play separately. And if they indeed intent for players to use them separately Zero would be a failure of a job. It would merely be Luminous 2.0, with a character sprite that switched from male to female instead of a hovering orb and with twice the skills, a lot cloned within its own jobs.

As for playstyle, I was just disappointed that it doesn't comprise of 2characters(which was the selling point that nexon created). Many who do play console game will have no problem keeping up with the switch-in and chaining is definitely straight forward(unless time sensitive like mercedes)

So yeah, prior to this I do not have any idea how nexon is going to pull the 2character system off or is it even possible. And was just disappointed to find out that the so called 2character is just a glorified marketing gimmick like how mir is simply a glorified gigantic weapon cover for evan.

Put it another way, zero playstyle is similar to xenon bar the chaining of skills. There is no difference in switching "mode" and switching "alpha<>beta"

Actually there's a huge difference. Switching mode is a terrible system for "real time" combat. Xenon's mode changing changes the skills utility between multiple skills. Alpha and beta switching is an entirely different skill set at the push of a 3 sec cooldown button.
