Notice of Removal of MTS, World Transfers and Name Changes (P.S. Notify sucks)

Well there goes buying and selling gloves, for me the only safe and legit way of getting enough mesos for decent items.
Mesos in large amounts will only be available to hackers, botters, and merchanting maniacs. I don't happen to belong to any of those groups.
I don't see why you are all so in love with this change. Enjoy getting your 1-2M mesos/hour training folks.
Back to taking months and months to save for a decent item, like 6 months for my first Ewand.
Those were the good old days???? I don't think so.

The amount of duper rage makes up for any negatives the removal of MTS will bring.

Now get rid of the rest of the duped equips, and I might consider coming back.

You don't see anything wrong with NX being the only legitimate way to get mesos if you're not a "merchanting maniac"?

I don't see MTS as evil in itself. In fact, it's quite useful, in its original function, for small worlds like Kradia. On any given day, you might not be able to find a scroll you need - even a perfectly ordinary one such as Dagger 60% - in its FM. Heck, a guildy of mine was complaining that for the past 3 days he could not find a single Summoning Rock in FM...

Unfortunately, hackers have been using it too much, and it has made it far too easy for "legits" to buy hacked and duped scrolls and gear and pretend innocence.

actually, the best solution could simply be to have a trading window where you can select ANY nx item, even impossible to trade ones, where you can select any, if you have enough NX to buy it. If you DO have nx, it's on the trade window, and the other side can trade for it. if you don't, then you put mesos or whatever you prefer.

Why do people forget Nexon already implemented it? Of course, it only works for Surprise Style Box items, but still.

If only they did this in JMS.

I'm glad MTS is finally gone, but holy f'uck. I've been waiting for a server transfer for my Dark Knight for a whole year now. Came back to MS last year, El Nido wasn't open for transfers, waited a few months while playing other characters, El Nido called to open, shortly after (and afaik before any transfers to Nido were done) they removed transfers 'indefinitely'. I figured it'd be a few weeks while they fix bugs, ended up being another like, 3/4 months? FINALLY brought them back, I was so excited to finally be able to transfer and then I get GM police autobanned. Now I'm ineligible to transfer and they're removing them again. Meanwhile my ticket has been open since November and I have several hundred auto replies telling me they're sorry.

F'uck this, seriously. What the hell.

Would really love to praise Nexon on this. But it’s just so overdue. Removing world transfer and name changes for a second time, maybe they will bring them back again? Perhaps not world transfers though they do seem to cause a number of issues with items.

I wonder how this will impact the future of the game. Interesting stuff.

Yeah, it's not like prices will just inflate again until they reach the new cap or anything. I mean Maplestory's economy is pretty stable as is, thank god there aren't any hackers or people who dupe items in this game who can artificially inflate the price of any item they choose as well as restrict other people from entering boss rooms by disconnecting them.

Huge staff overall this recently in february. That's probably why, but only an assumption. Read the first two pages theres a few good links you should follow up on.

As for this change, it's a necessary one, but you chop off one head you get a dozen more. It will definitely slow the hackers down looking for profit, not by much though. It'll be more tedious but they'll just have people pay direct money for it. NX prices may rise but people will be hesistant about it while others will try to exploit the trust factor. Aka NX selling will be an inner circle ordeal.

It's gonna be at least 4 months until mesos start to obtain a decent value again, so hold onto your hats. They did take a huge chunk of problems, but it's only worthwhile if they follow through with it. Otherwise alternative methods will be developed, new generations of hackers will thrive for entirely different reasons that actually may do more damage to us. Especially if illegitimate items are still in the system, then those will inflate to ungodly prices, while items being developed will always be inferior to those previous items, will create a pretty big advantage, beyond the games means to those who pay enough.

Excellent move. This should curtail my NX spending a lot, most of it was bought for converting into mesos. Maybe if mesos increase in value as a result I'd have more incentive to work for my own mesos, using NX only for permits. Currently I just don't bother since NX does the job so much better.

Good move, but too little too late, and seems out of desperation due to security flaws, among other things. Not like this will stop dupers/botters/etc. They really need to do a complete revamp instead of fixing bits at a time. It screams "we are too dumb to fix the game so let's fix it bit by bit in the simplest ways imaginable".

Next step: make game 99.9% server-sided and I'll be a bit pleased.

Yuck clearing out mts on 13 characters sound lame as hell right now.

MTS has been useless to me since they made the tax so regressive (100 NX item: 500% tax, 100,000 NX item: 7% tax)

So whatever.

MTS'ing hasn't been worth it for me for about 4 months now so I don't really care for it. Got plenty of code first sellers so this really doesn't affect me. Though if we get the full version of cash trade that would be nice.
