Doctor Who - Series 8
Felt that this episode was much better than last week's, gives me hope for the rest of Season 7.

I was a little disappointed when the professor handed the Sonic Screwdriver back to the Doctor, I originally thought it was going to be a Sonic-less episode.

Clara was amazing as usual, what with the reactions to the dead bodies, and actually listening to the Doctor.

How have I never watched this before? hilarious.

"Why do you have chairs on a Dalek spaceship anyway?"
"WE WILL EXPLAIN LATER"

"and with my trusty Sonic Screwdriver... OOOOH, 3 settings"

"Hide" was by far one of the best episodes of Doctor Who since it's revival in my opinion.
"Clara, i'm not holding your hand"

Once again, Clara is a high point of the episode. Quickly becoming my favourite companion.
 Clara

 Story

Next episode looks VERY interesting. What the hell are those creatures in the TARDIS, why are they hunting Clara? and why does the Doctor already know about them? and it looks like he finally confronts Clara, and accuses her of being a trap. (judging all of this from the "Next Time" trailer)

Really enjoyed "hide"

Watching this scene back now is absolutely horrible. When it first aired I was so confused about who River was, that her death didn't really impact me. But watching this NOW is really sad, especially considering the bonus scene where the Doctor states that it is "time" and that she is about to die.

When River finally stops showing up in the show, I'd really like to see a video showing her adventures with the Doctor from her timeline and her perspective.

I don't have anything to add to the discussion, I just discovered a Babelcolour Tribute for the Eleventh Doctor:

haha, that was really cool. It's weird that Matt Smith has been the doctor for quite a while, but it doesn't feel like it.

Anyway, todays episode:
I feel like I should have enjoyed it but it just wasn't as good as it could have been. The story was quite confusing and messy, the guest stars contributed absolutely nothing to the plot and this was the first time I've actually not liked Clara in an episode. (she looked absolutely gorgeous in this episode by the way)

The way she opened the door to a massive wave of fire and just stood there saying "nope, shouldn't have opened that door". or when she was being chased she stopped to look into some of the rooms and go "ooh" and "wow".

She's conveyed her fear and inexperience quite well in past episodes, but in this one she just seemed cocky and unreal.

Still, the nods to the past were quite decent. The library and the swimming pool haha

First off, Hide was great. Loved the time travel accident, and the "Romeo and Juliet" thing was great.

Judging by those posters, the rest of the season's gonna be great. Love a good Cyberman episode (and speaking of which, I'm surprised there hasn't been a Clara/Dalek run-in yet. I want to see how the Daleks interact with their wiped memory), and the finale's gonna be amazing (Hello Sweetie, anyone?).

In regards to JttCotT, decent episode. I liked the Doctor going dark, doing what he needed to do to get Clara back. It was a little confusing how the Doctor knew the burned person was Clara (did he just guess that Clara had died again and leaked back through?), but I loved the scene over the Doctor's name. And English, I think it was at most, him only remembering subconsciously, so I doubt it'll be brought up again.

The guest actors were a bit disappointing. :/ Overall I thought it was a good episode, especially since it's always nice to see more than just the console room of the TARDIS. I'm a little surprised at Clara's reaction to all the various room in the TARDIS. I guess she only hangs out in the console room and her bedroom. I question the Doctor's intelligence keeping a book, with his true name, out in the open for anyone to read.

Well, it was actually deep in the depths of the TARDIS, but considering the Silence are willing to steal a baby and raise it in secret for twenty years to kill the Doctor so he never reveals his name, writing it down probably isn't the best idea.

Speaking of the Doctors Name and the silence. I just noticed that the villains for the finale (The Doctors Name) are called the Whispermen (new villains). the name suggests that they are connected to the silence. I wonder if they are sent to stop The Doctor from revealing his name?

The Doctor's true name is apparently difficult to pronounce for humans. If Moffat does show the Doctor's true name, it'll probably be in Gallifreyan, since there will be no way for anyone to translate that.

Doctor Who: The Light at the End

Quote:New details have emerged about The Light at the End, the two-hour full cast audio drama from Big Finish that will celebrate fifty years of Doctor Who. Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann will be together playing the Doctor, and are accompanied by companions Louise Jameson as Leela, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Nicola Bryant as Peri, Sophie Aldred as Ace and India Fisher as Charley. Flying the flag for the forces of evil is Geoffrey Beevers as The Master, who has devised his most cunning plan yet.

Quote:Briefly dropping in will be (deep breath) William Russell as Ian, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Maureen O’Brien as Vicki, Peter Purves as Steven, Jean Marsh as Sara, Anneke Wills as Polly, Frazer Hines as Jamie, Wendy Padbury as Zoe, Katy Manning as Jo, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough!

“It’s a mighty cast list,” says writer, director and executive producer Nicholas Briggs, “and it was a huge logistical challenge to get everyone to the studio to record this new material for us. Though we wanted to include every surviving actor from the Doctor’s past, it wasn’t possible – but we did manage to get nearly everyone!”

Meanwhile, the TV 50th will have Ten, Rose, River, and Zygons. Way to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who by celebrating the last 8 years, with an appearance of one classic monster. Rolleyes At least Big Finish will get it right.

Wasn't expecting much from The Crimson Horror, thought the premise seemed kinda dull and boring compared to the previous episodes.

I must say though, It was completely, unexpectedly entertaining. Jenny, Vastra and Strax were brilliant once again, best characters introduced in a long time in my opinion. the chemistry between Jenny and the Doctor was probably better than any of his recent companions, I must admit.

The villain was surprisingly menacing, the story was well paced. Lots of drama, lots of laughs, lots of unexpected moments. Very, very good episode. thoroughly enjoyed it.

The end surprised me a lot.

Next Week: Clara is the worst babysitter in history, also, Cybermen.
