PSA: Egg Coloring Glitch
Flonne Wrote:There may be discrepancies between what people see as right and wrong, sure, but between putting in effort and building your character yourself and putting in no effort and making a level 200 when it takes some years to do so, I can't really find anything going for the latter other than "I have better things to do with my time than play video games", in which case, why are you playing video games?

Famous antitheist debater, his book's title, "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything", pretty much sums up his world view.
You lost me.
I don't understand how you transitioned from "right and wrong" to "some people would rather not grind".

That aside, you've tried to simplify the issue when it isn't that simple. For some people, getting to a certain level is equivalent to being able to skip a long cutscene or tutorial. I can't possibly be the only one who dreads making a new characters simply because the lower levels tend to have the least varied gameplay between classes and an extreme sense of "been-there-done-that".

As for the book, I'll have to check it out. I always enjoy having new things I should read.

SaptaZapta Wrote:Buff is a tradeable Use item that gives half an hour of 2x Drop.
It's the principle of the thing, though. You did the quest, you deserve the reward, whatever it is.

Anyway, if you complete the quest with space in Use, you get the buff and the exp (exp after buff), so at least that works ok.
That's actually fairly useful...

To be honest, I usually do quests like those just to get the dumb little symbols to go away.

That distinction was my point from the beginning, much moreso than "right and wrong". The difference between grinding the proper way and not, rather, the difference between making any form of progress in a game the proper way and not. The biggest problem is, sometimes the company is not transparent enough about their stance on issues...in some cases they actually condone what I still would consider improper methods of making progress, and I don't hold others to those standards, only myself (2x exp/drop/etc cards and other pay2win methods), but for everything else, like abusing glitches, and, obviously, abusing third party programs, I do. Don't get me wrong, if a person is open about hacking, I'm perfectly fine with them, it's the people that are not open about it or, even worse, actively claim legitimacy, that I have issues with. Some may not see this as a legitimacy issue in the first place, but I honestly can't see how, when some of these "bugs/glitches" yield more exp/hr than a vaccing botter gets, significantly more in a few cases.

The book is very good, but he really shines on his debates; most of them are on youtube and stuff, if you only check out one, watch the one he did against Tony Blair in December 2010. Then realize he was so sick at that point he actually died a little over a year later in December 2011, yet even on all the cancer treatment/drugs his mind was still that sharp. In one of his earliest debates he actually stated that he drank heavily before each one just to provide himself with some form of challenge, otherwise it was just boring and he always won. Not to say that he still didn't always win, even while blackout drunk. Because he did.

lol Maplers aren't angels they need to be governed by a higher power, they are not going to concern doing the right thing or the wrong thing, all they care about is whether they will get away or not.Rolleyes This thread just reminded me of Oscar Wild, "I can resist anything but temptation" LOLRolleyes

UA-makers clog up Manon/Griffey.
People who think they can boss because they're now fourth job clog up various bosses.
Botters have a way to level up faster so they can go bot at certain places and pineapple up the economy more.
Inflation of needed mastery books as more 4th jobbers are made.

Just throwing these things out there. While they may be small compared to dupers, etc., exp exploits are far from harmless.

Surprising to see Southperricans abusing/condoning this exploit, considering you guys so vehemently insist on calling glitched LHC maps hacked and refuse to partake in training at such maps.

Which won't matter come Justice anyways.

The Manon / Griffey thing never bothered me, as I just AFK until it spawns...

While Zakum is definitely the most hard hit by exploits such as these, there are other bosses such as Pianus and Scarga which aren't getting instanced.

Also note that 4th job advance uses pseudo-instanced versions of them - when you're doing that quest you go to a different map where they always spawn.

Oh boy here we go.

As for me, I hope to god they don't rollback. I just wasted 7 hours grinding at Stronghold to hit 185.

seems like they didn't even do anything besides fix the quest. Rolleyes

Glitch still worked for me after the maintenance that was "supposed" to fix it. I accidentally did it twice.

Now I wonder if it still works after the patch.

There's no integrity left whatsoever in this game. The TOS is nothing more than a joke and with Nexon so consistently making their game so easy to become screwed with is only making it worse. I used to be all over hackers/glitchers/dupers/greedy merchants, but now I can't say I blame Nexon any less for the game being in its current state of atrocity. Nexon is now in the same boat as all of the above because they all don't seem to give a damn about the game and just want what's best for themselves. Nexon = me want money, everyone else = me want NX/mesos, new ways to cheat, new ways to mess up gameplay, new ways to screw up community.

And so I implore anyone who isn't selfish to simply quit the game as I did, and thus the bottom-dwellers (including Nexon or "Nextcon" as my friend likes to call it) will be left to implode themselves.

The TOS' purpose is to make sure when they ban legit's they have something to recite to them.

Except all of these issues are with the game itself as the result of poor design.

Bosses with useful or (especially) required loot should always be instanced.
Mastery books have always been a pomegranatety way to give skills.

Even without an exp-exploit, those issues already exist and will continue to worsen as the population grows.
If anything, overcrowding may just make the issue more apparent to Nexon so that they fix it.
I mean, it took them how long to realize that having only 3 Zakums available per world was no longer viable?

MrTouchnGo Wrote:Botters have a way to level up faster so they can go bot at certain places and pineapple up the economy more.
I don't think botters give a pineapple about experience exploits, quite frankly.
The two hours it would have taken to get to 120 would have been two hours they could have spent making millions by botting.

Look, another person who can't tell the difference between a forest and the trees that make up that forest.

Then go tell Nexon their old bosses are out-dated instead of complaining about a growing population that proves that to be the case.

PS. I think Pianus is a shitty example of "over-crowding" considering that that boss is one of the worst ideas this game has ever had.

I'll also throw in: Samurai Knight. Makes people feel sad about the forgotten bosses too.

How do you finish this quest legitimately? At the end of 30 minutes it just gave me a second quest that took away the setup items without giving a reward of any kind.

You have empty use slots?

does the same for me even though i have use slots. i have to do it twice before i get the exp.

I don't have to do it twice, but the quest only comes back once an hour.
(That is, after getting the buff and exp, I have to wait half an hour before I can accept the quest again).

1) Does it really matter if it's poor design? Fact remains is that the issues exist, and exp exploits only worsen them.
2) You could also argue that hackers and dupers have such a large impact on the economy because of poor game design, considering that Nexon could actually give half a pomegranate and implement Eos' fix for duping and an actual functioning autoban system.

Viaje Wrote:Even without an exp-exploit, those issues already exist and will continue to worsen as the population grows.

So, to sum up:
Because there is a problem and it will only worsen, we might as well contribute to the worsening of it?

Viaje Wrote:If anything, overcrowding may just make the issue more apparent to Nexon so that they fix it. I mean, it took them how long to realize that having only 3 Zakums available per world was no longer viable?

Nexon is just generally extremely unresponsive to everything. Look at HT.

Once you exceed a certain level range within the monster, it won't drop the item botters would be aiming for, meaning they'd have to make another character to continue farming at the same place.

Sorry. It's just that most frequent posters on Southperry tend to be pretty damn ultralegit (apologies if I lumped you into that group erroneously), and the fact that a couple of those frequent posters were abusing the exploit, and others, while not participating in it themselves, completely ignored the legitimacy issue this raised up (condoning). Just seemed a bit hypocritical to me.

Overall, it seems that you're trying to say that the game sucks, so it's not really the abusers' fault if the exploit affects the game, although I may be getting completely the wrong message here.

1) Are we using arbitrary numbers now where normal paragraphs would make more sense?

You could argue that the issues created by hackers and dupers are similar to an issue caused by what can only be labeled as "overpopulation".
You could also walk around in public wearing a fish on your head and telling people that chicken nuggets are made with the ground up bones of babies.
In both cases, people are probably going to think you're an idiot.

Overpopulation is an issue of content design while hacking and duping exploit poor system design.
They aren't the same kind of problem.

The best solution is to remove the source of the problem. In this case, the solution is to either prevent any more people from leveling or to make the supply match the demand.
Excusing Nexon's poor response time is not a proper solution.

Actually, what they do is move the character to a level-appropriate map as there isn't anything worth botting for at lower levels besides the Angelic Blessing Recipe which can be infinitely mined by Cygnus Knights.

Clearly you aren't paying attention because I can think of plenty of frequent posters who have all but out-rightly said that they hack regularly.
In fact, the number of frequent posters who play the "saint" role is actually in the minority. Most work in shades of grey.
