"Namco Bandai recruiting people for Smash Bros 6". Isn't this the 4th one?

This is an interesting news report. Maybe has to do with the Direct?

GameXplain showcased a lot of screenshots that popped up after the latest Direct (250 for WiiU and 160 for 3DS). Thought it was worth a look.

Some people think the trophy quiz was just another troll from sakurai (because lets be honest, there was quite a lot of trolling in that direct), and that the 4 shown are series that have another newcomer, or possibly as unlockables that sakurai doesn't want to reveal before the game comes out (i.e. zelda, metroid, kid icarus and fire emblem).

There's no way KI doesn't have another character, same for zelda and fire emblem has had the newest make lord in both melee and brawl, so it seems somewhat unlikely that chrom won't be added. Though I can imagine ike and chrom being able to coexist in the same smash game.

God knows who could be added from metroid if that ridley floating above the stage wasn't a double troll, making it look like he's a boss when he's actually a playable character (though it was ugly other M ridley from the brief few frames of his tail shown). Since dark samus is an assist trophy, there really isn't anyone else worth adding form the universe. One of the hunters from prime 3 or prime hunters would be a waste

Thoughts of the direct

1) Ridley is not a character.
2) Pit and ZSS and zelda look A LOT better now. Shiek's chain being replaced with a bomb and her new down special look like great changes, i can already see bomb -> fish kick being a thing. Olimar seems like his changes are for the better. DDD only throwing gordo's now sounds incredibly OP even if you can just attack through them. Also wow @ sonic down air into up-B! Now he doesn't just die for it lol.
3) I enjoyed the fact that he mentioned the wii lan adapter. I didn't know it existed, and it shows he actually does care about competitive play. For glory mode sounded great until he told us he made final dest versions of all the stages. Now for glory mode sounds perfect. The new ranking system is extremely interesting as well.
4) There doesn't seem to be that many viable stages...i hope we at least get 3 no hazard maps in the 3DS version (final dest, battlefield, smashville) (excluding halberd since it's tolerable and already confirmed)

Suuuuuuuper hyped to get it for 3DS!

as cool as the 3ds version is (and i have a 3ds) i don't want to get it for that, part of the charm is inviting my pal over here and whupping each other's ass in the same screen.

The problem with the wii U version is that we still have no idea about the controller situation. The 3DS should be very reliable, as well as be more feasible for tournaments because logistics is too much.

i don't refer to the smoke trails when you smash someone, but if you check there's smoke coming out of the characters when in the middle of a combo. for example on the sonic combo (he loses the smoke for a second before the downwards kick though)

Oh i see what you're talking about now. That's pretty nifty to string combos together easier.

I'm right there with you on 3). It seems like the team developing the game has put A LOT of thought into providing competitive players with the best possible gaming experience, while still allowing newcomers and more casual players to enjoy the game.

I also liked how they are doing the rating. I'm not sure about some of the more competitive players here, but I personally would prefer seeing how many people I have scored higher than, rather than seeing how many are better than me. That's more of a personal preference than anything though.

Hmm, I don't know about having another one from Zelda. With the Sheik split, that's four characters from that universe now; I don't think Melee or Brawl ever exceeded that.

I highly doubt Ike will make an appearance, probably still a toss-up between Chrom or Lucina.

The Ridley one is still confusing me because I don't recognize that stage. If it was a Metroid themed stage, I would be leaning more towards Ridley being one of the new, stage boss elements.
