I could swear they've changed some of the musicial cues in cutscenes. Doesn't sound as good.

It looks like there is far too much touchscreen action in the port. I can see it getting very annoying and button mashy unless the combat is slowed down by a lot or the enemies are made weaker.
I always appreciated that the damage done by both Neku and his partner applied to the enemy, so you could easily use both to defeat enemies (and since they had separate controls, it wasn't too confusing).

Now controlling both Neku and the partner through the touchscreen and giving the partner a cooldown.. it's just not right.

I really don't understand the logic of square's marketing team on this one. They know people react to news, and they know how they react to something being built up. You don't build up a fucking port, that's retarded. You don't even need to be in marketing to know that.

And you certainly don't build up a port to an operating system THAT EVERY REAL GAMER IN THE WORLD FUCKING HATES. Square has completely lost the plot by this point.

I wonder if they're trying to pull a Kingdom Hearts here. Maybe there will be some deep secret message in the iOS game hinting at a real sequel.

I can't fathom how any of this ever seemed like a good idea. For that matter, why the heck does Square Enix keep releasing these games that blatantly appeal more to (I hate using the term but...) hardcore gamers on iOS anyway?

The World Ends with you is about as far as you could possibly get from the main playing habits of the audience who buy the games on the Apple store. Even if this was "just" a port, it would have gone down so much better if it also had a 3DS/Vita version. Preferably with the 3DS version playing properly, not this abomination.

It's still the same game, and it's a great game. If you have an iOS then by all means, get it, play it, love it.
People are butthurt because it's a port, not because the port sucks. I'm sure it's more or less exactly the same as the DS version.

The battle system might lose out a bit, but it'll still be a decent game. If you can get the DS version do it. Else, you might as well get the iOS version.

Don't get us wrong: Most of the rage here is because of the retarded PR department at Square Enix, they should have just announced THIS a week ago, not a pineappleing countdown clock. The idiot translator on Twitter saying "theres more!" when it got leaked that it was an iOS port didn't help any(becuase he was lying, obviously). Not because of the game itself. WEll, ok, being an iOS exclusive update isn't helping the games case any, but still.


One major problem I can think of is that several of the bosses (and to a smaller extent, regular enemies) all had different attack patterns,and in some cases attacks depending on which character they were fighting (Neku or his partner), and I can't think of any way that this can work without the second screen, since your partner is now nothing more than a Pin.

The person playing the video I posted earlier probably isn't doing that well at the battles because it takes time to learn how to fight well in TWEWY. They seem to have gotten a little better in the second day video they did.

Like, Luke fon Fabre douche levels. But yeah. I find it a bit funny. Half of the point of the gameplay, and the narrative for that matter, was "working with your partner". This feels like "your partner is a tool you can call on if you really need to."

It feels like they're ignoring a major theme of the game.

That said, the more I think about it, I'll probably end up getting it just because it looks so nice, and it'll be nice to have on my phone.
