Notice of Removal of MTS, World Transfers and Name Changes (P.S. Notify sucks)

Liteness Wrote:im sorry, mesos worthless? people used meso to BUY stuff BEFORE MTS came out. im sorry that your one to get pineappleed but o wells let it go haha

Why would I get pineappleed?
I don't understand your logic.

Just because I'm pointing out an opposing view doesn't make me wrong, nor may I be right.

Also, when "PEOPLE USED TO BUY STUFF WITH MESOS", mesos used to be worth something.
Those items used to be worth something as well. Now we have 1,000 of the same level 10 1h sword with 1xx attack.

Also, NX used to be 1:1. What is your point?
This day and age isn't 5 years ago, do not compare the 2, ******.

Introducing a system only to remove it only cluster pineapples prices, this is undeniable.
When MTS first came into play, 10 attack wg's were 40-50m and sold for 15k almost instantly.

Now, everything is worth nothing. 10 attack wg's are used as currency, almost every MTSable item is.
Why buy out of the MTS when you can buy with mesos and get a cubed item?
For NX of course, that is the sole purpose of MTS.

I'm definitely not getting pineappleed over, my gear is done and I have mesos stockpiled as well as a pomegranate load of NX.

It's just more fun to waste the NX on cubes than to sell the mesos off for money.
I'm not on ms for that, rather for the fun.

Also, you seem kind of mad. No one types "ahaha o well" unless they're mad. Rolleyes

I'm also confused as to why Mesos will now become worthless and only useful for potions. They were worth a god damn thing when the MTS was open? At least now, people are forced to have actual in-server economies, rather than sticking everything in the MTS and hoping for the best, having unsold things just remain in the MTS storage. Mesos will definitely be worth something now that some sort of in-server economy is forced.

All that is minor (to them). If they can't take it via MTS and then sell it for real-world dollars, they're not going to waste time using it all.

Regarding Sok/PSoK... Nexon, how about those free item locks we've been asking for?

The one person who is very vocally displeased in this thread tells you what a great change this is for everyone else.

You'd think.
But this is Nexon.
If they "disabled" it client-side, it means they never thought of hackers using packets. And if they don't think of it, they won't look for any rogue packets, either.

Good for you, Nexon. Now close off Empress expeditions.

(Oh I can smell the smoke..)
Pretty much I'm still shocked at this bold, risky, ballsy move they're making, however, I'm 100% clueless about to why everyone is so concerned when every single MS has done fine without it. I'm 100% sure I'm missing something here, so please enlighten me.

The influence this brings is nice and, in my opinion, a very favorable move by Nexon. The Cash Trade System would, in the modern setting of this game, make much more sense. You can effectively do the same thing you do with MTS, really, if you guys think about it. Instead of using NX directly as with MTS, you'd just cash trade. Quite frankly I've not kept up or been particularly interested in CTS, but does that not allow you to trade NX for in-game items? That being the case, will it not give Nexon just as much ability to tax NX trades? Sure, there will more than likely be an increase in Cash Shop items and equipment, but as far as the actual NX trading is concerned, they can effectively enforce the same taxes as before.

As a devil's advocate, I would like to point out that there is some legitimacy to DamageCalc's idea of mesos being "useless". Yes, this move will, in the long-term, help stabilize the game's economy, but I also think that this will cause a massive amount of inflation in the short-term (as has been pointed out several times thus far in this thread). The extent to which I'll agree with DamageCalc is that, for the time being, mesos will be just as unattainable to the greater player base through legitimate means as they have been in the recent year or so (without merchanting, mind you). I've generally felt being able to garner large amounts of mesos without the use of illegal methods has definitely increased in difficulty, but hey, maybe I'm just behind on things. The players with stockpiles are going to benefit most from this in the short-term, leaving the players with lesser resources just as far behind, if not further, than before.

With the CTS implemented, I would guess that, unless CS items see a huge hike in prices, we're going to see more of a doppelganger than an improvement. NX is NX, whether it be in the form of NXCash or items. Cubes control this game as it is, after all. Currency changes in the real world, as it will consistently in the game.

I think it's also important to point out that it will be interesting to see if we'll encounter massive liquidation of in-game MTSables, or if people hoarding such items will wait for the inflation to hit and subsequently make profits via MoneyPak-based transactions.

Sidenote : As stated above, my notes about the Cash Trade System may be incorrect, and of this I am very aware.

So basically all this means is that I should game the MTS immediately to get as much as I can in pure meso/equips-that-won't-devalue-too-much.

Congratulations Nexon, the best incentive you've ever given for people to buy NX is the announcement that you'll be shutting down one of the worst systems you've ever created.

1. Incompetent developers. Maybe they don't do as much logging as they should.
2. Incompetent IT. Maybe they do have comprehensive logging and no one can be assed to check through them for suspicious activity. This could be for any number of reasons, like too many false-positives or exploits falling through a "suspicious activity" filter.

Regardless, it's not like its news that Nexon America is incompetent as a whole. All we can really do is speculate.

Fix: Item "The Stirge Seat" can now be searched for in the MTS.

Ooh the irony.

Uhm... Well, I don't know about you, but something tells me I'll be missing on a LOT of stuff for being NXless. Specially considering the guys at Nexon won't implement the cash trading ever. I'm confident because that's their style. They have a particular poor aim to announce it just when kms releases the "change equipment sprites for another". I only wanted a decent hat with a lord pirate's sprite...

Not to mention I'll never be able to expand my inventory again. Unless they give maple points... and we all know that won't happen. There's a fix for that, yeah, making them tradeable in kms, but as a thief, I'm sick of waiting all the time for everything.

But the security it brings could be nice enough, yes.

Jared Wrote:Sidenote : As stated above, my notes about the Cash Trade System may be incorrect, and of this I am very aware.

Well, actually Cash Trade allows trade NX items for in-game items or mesos, and even put NX items in shops, while the MTS uses NX as currency, Cash Trade uses mesos. I'd say Cash Trade puts more emphasis on the value of mesos, vs the MTS's emphasis on NX. I have to admit I didn't pay much attention to what went on in the MTS or how people used it, since I only used it for storage, or occasionally for quick NX or mesos, so I can't really say I know much about it. However, I'm pretty sure that Cash Trading will drive down the value of NX items fairly quickly. Like, when I started successfully getting empress equips with my group, the price per equip was pretty high still, but as more and more people gained the ability to finish, at least the summons that dropped equips, the prices quickly crashed, from all the undercutting, in the span of about two or three months, the prices went from hundreds of mil (700m to 1.5b) to like, 70m. Except, with NX, everyone, theoretically, has the ability to buy the items and sell them from the start, so I'd expect prices, and the ratio of NX:mesos, to drop fairly quickly from all the players going and undercutting each other.

glass half full.

this announcement: nexon AM getting rid of the three biggest in game services they offer that cost resources/time/money. Que the dead server merging next.

also will force NX purchasing. all gain for nexon. the formula many of the "free loader" merchers in fm use will be broke. now we can have a marketplace with less players trying to market price, yet more controlled by a select few who will pour the money into permits... you know, the greedier group who will now inflate price with less competition and smaller availability of stock for certain items.

on the upside, all the NX junkies who can't buy NX... will now be pushed into waiting arms of scammers. NX prices will be unreasonably high for awhile. meso will be burned in mass amounts. servers can get back to their own unique economies. meso will gain value again. though were also dealing in a marketplace in most worlds where generating meso isn't exactly "easy" anymore. all of this being upside for nexon but a complete pineapple job for the FM this summer. im not expecting a large wave of people coming back to play this summer either. so a weak fm will make this even funner.

in the end, i applaud the coming correction in the marketplace. on the sad side... were going back to the old way. small control of the fm. limited quantity. easily controlled pricing. the large (and few) nx spenders in each sever running things. meso value going up, well, thats also going to attract a surge in meso buyers. hackers. maybe nexon will go triple play and make meso sacks perma Poast

time to hoard meso and see what happens.

also, an actual date for mts end of service would be nice... for everyone who has items stored. how you can announce something like this with some vague date of "summer" is really poor planning.

good, now just raise the meso cap to 10 bill and people will actually be able to buy perfect items conveniently!

stuff of dreams Frown

but if they did that you wouldn't have to make additional useless mules/accounts to hold meso and nexon couldn't say ____ new characters/accounts created in ____ time span.

Actually, the best solution wasn't to remove it.

It was to fix it. Make it server sales only, fix security bugs.

OR to make a decent cash trading system. Where you can theorically get anything from the cash shop, like expanders, etc. Or to make some silly system like "do this quest weekly to get 100 maple points". 100 points a week won't get you anywhere unless you spend more, but it would still be fair for everyone, to get things if you save enough after time.

That way, they can REALLY label it as free, and people would be happy to spend more, instead of feeling backstabbed. Valve pulls a lot of these, and look how well it goes for them.
