An Incoming Cygnus Knight Revamp?
#81
i don't think its just a simple revamp.
might be a level cap raise for koc, and maybe similar to jump, they are changing them one by one?

A level cap raise and one-by-one revamping doesn't make sense. At least it doesn't to me...

But why would they raise the level cap anyways? That bit doesn't make sense either.

What.
That is Mikhail.
Compare it to the artwork, the sprites, and the Future Ereb version of him.
The only difference is that shield and his helmet is more winged.
Incidentally, it makes me think of the Agares Bloody Helm, but crossed with the helm he usually wears.
Oh, spadow just posted this on EF.

Looks like they basically just gave Mikhail some pointy bits on his armor.
Only thing bothering me is the emblem in the middle of his helm. It almost looks like Shinsoo's head... which would make the winged bits Shinsoo's wings.
So either Shinsoo's making the knights more powerful, or he's raising a secret order of knights that oddly look exactly like the Chief Knights.
EDIT:
The more I look, the more wings I see, which makes me think even more about Shinsoo having some involvement.

Polantaris Wrote:The reason I rarely use Restoration on my Paladin is because it just takes too long to cast. When fighting any boss that matters (IE, that can do damage, mostly through 1/1ing), by the time Restoration is completed, I've taken another 1/1 hit. This is very apparent whenever I am doing Zakum. I spent time using Restoration, and by the time I regain control of my character, I've been 1/1ed again. It defeats the purpose of bothering to use the skill at all. Potions take almost no time, and certainly don't completely disable your character.
Does it really matter? With Power Guard on, it takes about 5 1/1 attacks in a row before you're even close to the point where Zakum can kill you. It's not too difficult to do an HP pot-less Zakum solo at that level with Restoration.

His eyes are way pointier on the end, making his eyes seem narrower - perhaps a sign of evil? Maybe something to do with Future Henesys? (Although this looks wildly different from Dark Mihile...)

I don't think it's Shinsoo related, but who knows?

Or maybe, it's a new temporary Cygnus Knight mascot: a random Dawn Warrior. :I

We may be all overthinking it. It's probably the new Pirate Hero or something Rolleyes

Um, fuck that sort of thinking straight to hell.

I'm sorry, but I'm a sane individual with absolutely no intention of spending assloads of cash just to raise my damage range, and it would certainly piss me the pineapple off if they were to make it impossible for me to boss unless I do so.

Baklava Wrote:Nothing in-game ever USUALLY looks like MapleStory art. Besides the redesigned armor, the character looks identical to Mikhail's character art.
In what capacity does it look "identical to Mikhail's character art"?
Blue eyes and blond hair aren't a lot to go on.

Yeah, that picture is a generic Dawn Warrior, not Mikhail.
Note that the primary usage of that image was in Maplestory Cygnus Knights Edition.

This is Mikhail:

This is also Mikhail:

This, also, is Mikhail:

Notice the consistently 2-fanned head-dress, the cape design, and the past-the-shoulder hair.

On a side-note, I'm not sure what part of that was supposed to be posted by Spadow.

I don't see any sign of Shinsoo in the headgear, but I believe that saying Shinsoo has some involvement with someone clearly connected to the Cygnus Knights is extremely redundant.

If they make that goal seem more obtainable to people (As in, less money spent, but still lots of money spent), then Nexon will do it to milk us for every penny they can. Such is the nature of the Potential system.

Regardless, my point still stands. Every class can hit 999,999 whenever they please, because of the broken potential system. There's really no point in nerfing / buffing when the potential system is the main culprit behind everything.
As we've discussed in the warrior section, the game eventually boils down to "Hits per second" over "Damage per second" with the direction we're going. :/

That's not a generic warrior, because that same image appears in the Cygnus intro in-game along with Hawkeye, Irena, Oz, and Ickhart.
That's also the design used in all of the newer promotional videos, revamp notes, whatnot.

They change character designs all the time, why should technicalities matter NOW?

This is why I don't trust in-game sprites, by the way;

My #6 prediction was that this is actually the last Legend in Nexon's final "pineapple you" to pirates.

I didn't realize that there were still people pretending that those who will ever reach constant max damage legitimately at all represent the average player.

Because they've never been consistent in their depiction of the Legends?

This would be hilariously sad if true. Where's Raul's avatar of "F'ucking with Pirates Since ____"?

That's saying that everyone and their grandmother is going to pay thousands of dollars to get to that point.

Even if we use the example, and say EVERYONE who plays the game also spends enough money to get to that point, some classes take A LOT more work than others. There's still extreme imbalance between the classes (Partly due to the fact that they keep adding more and more), and as a result people are constantly complaining to Nexon about it, who keeps trying to fix it by revamping half the classes.

A revamp boils down to trying to balance the spread between classes (Usually...for Nexon, maybe it means that). If EVERYONE had exactly the same stats respective towards their class, with all the same gear, with all the +Attack/+Total Damage/+Boss Damage, etc, there will be huge differences between the classes. Revamps are supposed to even this out. The classes that do way above the average are supposed to be cut down while the classes doing way under the average are supposed to be buffed.

It's not a matter of "Well, since everyone could eventually hit max damage anyway, they should just do nothing," because that's unfair to the players of the lower end classes. If you only need 100% to your stat to do 999,999, why should I need 300%? That's significantly more money to get the same damage as you. Revamps are supposed to fix that, since it's not like Nexon is going to stop letting people do 999,999. People like big numbers too much.

I already think I'm spending way too much money on cubes when I barely have 2 items with Epic potential and some items are still unpotted/rare with crap pot. The average player doesn't even have tons of Unique items, not to mention Legendary.

I'm still of the school of thought that the game shouldn't be geared towards those that spend TONS of money on the game. It has to leave a place so people who want to spent tons of money have a way to do it, but it shouldn't limit what content is accessible to players that spend average amounts of money (say 15~30$ a month?) or even less.

I feel like you're only fighting against that artwork being Mikhail because there isn't 100% proof to saying that he is, so you're certain no one can prove you wrong w/o having the artist himself tell you otherwise.
(Even though most people who look on the character select screen would see those 5 CKs and assume that they're the same ones in-game, since all of them match enough, except for 1.)

The only one that doesn't match almost perfectly is Mikhail, and the main difference is just his armor.

It wouldn't really surprise me at this point.
Again, whatever this is, it's obviously Cygnus related and I'd suggest it's a higher-ranked soldier than the regular Knights.

Still, ^ This would be pretty cool. It'd take a lot of work to make CKs be able to hit 200 fairly, so I wouldn't mind a tougher (more unique) branch of CKs that could actually count as "mains" or whatnot.
Actually, thinking about it...I definitely want that to happen =o *crosses fingers*

The hair is different also. In the concept art he has a full on mullet.
