i'm hearing a lot about duping now...not sure if it's true, but it seems like MS is going to hell in a hand basket right now.

Duping through channel crashes have been occurring since the game was created, either intentionally or not.

The rate things are going, I'm not going to be surprised if another meso exploit comes out. Things like this make me wonder why I even bother with the game anymore since hackers are so dominant.

Hackers have always been dominant.
When maple started, there were loads of botters.
Even now there are botters and a handful of exploiters.

There are always meso exploits out. It's just a matter of who has them and if they release to public or friends.

Hackers back then at least shy away from legits. That was the case 3 years ago anyway. Now, they don't even bother shying away and flat out announce their illegitness publicly like it's a status. GMS is starting to look a lot like CMS, where if you play legit, you're gonna get banned for not hacking.

I'm hoping that "always" is mostly an exaggeration, but seeing how Maple Story seems to never run out of mesos, I don't doubt it either.

simple solution, every item should have its unique ID, so if the server see a duplicated ID, both items are deleted.

Unfairly affects anyone who was on a crashing server and accidentally did whatever dupes items (put in mts/storage generally)

I think it's sufficient to get rid of all but 1 copy. You might wonder where the item went, but it'll still exist.

I miss the old days where hackers wouldn't dare try half the pomegranate they do today

This brings up a question I've long wondered: How are the individual items stored anyway?

Here we go again:

NXNeural Wrote:Update:

The development team is working on a fix to address the item duplication exploit. The hot question is whether we will rollback servers or not. To that end, we need more time to determine the situation versus potential impact of such an action, and will provide a message about that when we can.
