When did Pirates come out?

I been technically playing MapleStory since 2005 too, but the day Pirates were released was the day PunchEm was born, my first REAL character.. (I don't really count under 50, I was still learning how to play Maple and never really attached)

Not Bowmasters, sorry lol.. but I was either the first or one of the first Hunters in El Nido? :o
And I was (for sure) the 5th (to-reach) Bowmaster in El Nido..

Pirates came out in late 2008.

My first Ranger was made in 2006 and had like... 90 base STR or something. o_o

The base STR of my character was like 101. I used free AP resets to reset it out.

Made a Cleric in 2005, got bored, and made my Bowmaster to be in 2006 sometime. I got bored of my Bowmaster too so I made other characters. Today, I'm playing a Marksman which I find infinitely more versatile and enjoyable than my Bowmaster. My Bowmaster has 60 or 65 base STR (after some AP Resetting) to equip my pro (at the time f3) Arund and my Marksman has 65 base DEX to equip his Neschere. How times change...

To be honest, I was quite stupid for choosing Bowmaster.

I mean, starting in El Nido, I had all these classes that most were changed due to the Big Bang, yet I chose Bowmaster.
They didn't get anything "new" like Shadowers did or Paladins or Heroes..
I honestly do not know why.. but I'm glad I did =P

Also that 900% x 4 Snipe thing at bosses doesn't seem that great.

A lot of classes would kill to be able to instantly inflict 3600% damage every few seconds. Plus there's Ultimate Strafe along with the crossbow's damage formula advantage. That's not even mentioning that Bowmasters' Hurricane is stupidly designed to chew up durability like no tomorrow, meaning that using Rex earrings is more of a hassle for us, especially during major boss runs.

A lot of classes would kill to be able to instantly inflict 3600% damage every few seconds. Plus there's Ultimate Strafe along with the crossbow's damage formula advantage. That's not even mentioning that Bowmasters' Hurricane is stupidly designed to chew up durability like no tomorrow, meaning that using Rex earrings is more of a hassle for us, especially during major boss runs.

You're not limited to using Rex Earrings. My earrings are 16% dex 8% HP.

They're overrated.. higher level earrings with better potential are better..
And scrollable.

If you take a look at the 4th Job Calculator, you can see the BMs still outdamage lolMM by a good bit. Contrary to popular belief, WHs only outdamage BMs by a slim margin at bosses, so no, BMs do not suck.

But yeah, I used to think I needed Rex earrings and a CZak helm for better survivability, but I'm currently not using either and am doing fine. Only thing is that I have never gone to CZak or been on an HT run that didn't DC me (this was before my bossing situation got better, a good month or so before HT suddenly became a peach and a half to get into).

But I have 5.9k HP, so I'm still good (even if I'm not as good as many HP washed archers).

Despite what people say about us, I would not trade my bowmaster for anything.
Other than an Aran and an Evan for their rewards for leveling up, and a very brief fling with a 'slinger, all my characters have been archers of some sort ( bowmaster, sniper, another bowman for the crit ring because i felt comfortable playing it, a wind archer for a Cygnus, and yes, even a wild hunter.)

I still believe if you think out of the box of "spam hurricane" archers have a great amount of strategy that can be employed.

Maybe in another 5 years i will get the last 15.5 levels to get to 200.

No idea if I'm allowed to post lolbasil links.. but.. I've been updating a "guide" you may say, on Bowmasters (post-bb)

- Hurricane will stop firing if you stand in one spot without moving.. Nexon's way of "preventing" botting.. so just move a bit while tapping the Hurricane key so you don't get "locked"

Actually that's not true. Hurricane still fires but nothing else works. You can still shoot Hurricane arrows but FA won't work and you can't use any other skill (Inferno, etc) unless you move.

A lot of these "tips" are silly and random (in a good way... Moltres FTW) and made my morning, haha. The "Bossmaster" thing... a friend gave me a different name; Blowmaster. wtp. ;-;

So, question. I've got a "perfectly" scrolled Engaw (quotes because of 50%s); 156 ATT, +12 ATT Potential, 2 lines (rare). Would it be worth it to try for a better bow (VIP Bow or whatever bow comes out that would outshine it) or am I good with what I have now, because I really can't say it's bad in any way (it really isn't; I'm too afraid to lose it to enhancements).

I have 10 50%s on me that I was originally saving for my WH's crossbow and I was wondering if I'm better off investing in a better bow with those. The 2 lines and partly the fact that a friend of mine's surpassing it with her own Engaw + 50%s kinda bother me too. /admitting to jealousy lol

Of course, I wouldn't bother with that for a long time since I'm trying to upgrade my armour first. :x
