In my opinion there is too much wrong with the US right now. People are so focused on gas prices, when europeans have it way worse. People need to start walking more and riding bicycles. There are lies upon lies upon lies in every single advertisement on television, as well as on the internet. Too many beer commercials that directly relate to beautiful women appearing. Too many smokers that really don't care whether they live or die and what family they leave behind, your stress isn't anything compared to your health. Alcohol is good to use when in times of crisis, but there is no reason to drink it on a daily basis, unless a family member recently died.

I can say, as a student in the california public school system, that our schools are probably no where near the levels of other countries. Most countries have a bilingual program where kids learn 2 languages by the time their in like 3rd grade. We U.S. citizens don't even try until 7th grade+. It makes me sad that we aren't even in the top 20 most intelligent countries in the world.
Though we all may spend time in other countries, we must spend YEARS to understand one another. We cannot base our judgements merely on simple observations and generalizations. We must see through those: take in all that there is- make a concious effort to understand one another. Only then can we truly judge one another.
Who does everyone in the world turn to when they need assitance? The united states. Do I know why? no. I'm just glad i live in a country full of opportunity that I would not have in others. I'm am pro-america, but like all things- rarely is it ever perfect.
Well you can only speak for the public school system dude.. have you been to private school?.. They start you off learning a foreign language(mainly spanish..well when i went) when you hit kindergarten/first grade..yeah we have a lot of opportunity here.. BUT for how long?? Not everybody turns to the united states when they need help :f6:

There is certainly a reason for the anti-US sentiments from around the world.
The big boys in USA decided to go to war, and dragged a few countries down with them, Australia included. Not to mention how the Australian PMs end up when they declare their close relationship with USA, one went for their daily swim and went missing since then, and the most recent one even lost his seat as MP.
Not gonna bash America, but I wonder how much a gallon is, because where I live, the last time I checked, the fuel price is below $2AUD for a litre. What I have also read in the papers was that the people of USA has been labelled as the most impatient people in the world that can't stay in a queue for more than 20 mins.
USA can't be a super power for much longer, she had her share of prosperity, now it's China's turn. Although I think it's unfortunate for the world for that to happen...

In the USA people complain about high prices, while in europe it's quite a bit more expensive because governments here actually try to stop global warming and stuff like that >_>

Not all school's suck in this country. Some actually try.
Not only turn to our country.... they move here to so they can get a better life. If people hated it so much why do they ask for our help/move here?[/COLOR]

lol @ complaining about gas prices.
In Europe (the Netherlands) last time I checked gas was like.. ~1.55 euros per liter? Which would be $2.20 per liter ---> $8.32 per gallon. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone up again already

Yeah, gas prices are 6 bucks in the Caribbeans. The media is corrupting everyone's minds (maybe that's why a bunch of people are dumb).

LOL i haven't been in/near an elementary school in YEARS... I can't tell what's new and what's not. Things have changed, and they will keep on changing.
Noww that you mention it, I went to private school during elementary. That was okay... but in no way can I even begin to understand the workings of a private middle/high school. Haven't been to one of those either.
On another note, I remembered that i learned a 2nd language in elementary (Cantonese and Mandarin... I didn't think about it at whenever i wrote that xD)
Hoepfully they do more of this learning. I hope my school tries harder. It's a great thing being able to get away from all the normal stuff and drama of the normal classes into AP's...

Kyoto protocol wasn't signed by the US because it unfavorably targeted the US. By the way, Japan is the worst polluter in the world; considering how Shinto is about revering nature, they put some pretty unclean factories all over Asia, desecrating nature there, so Japan itself can be kept clean.
I think we should all just stop bashing countries. There are assholes in every country, and nice people in every country. It's not like Josef Stalin spoke for every Russian, so let's not go confusing George Bush's foreign policy with the opinions of America as a whole. His rock-bottom approval ratings are not there for no reason.

Agreed. I remember being in Hawaii and being forced to learn hawaiian. Then when I moved to West Virginia we had at least 2-3 hours a week dedicated to learning Spanish. My sister was taught spanish too and now in the 6th grade she has to take it again. When she reaches 7th, she'll learn French and in 8th, she'll learn Japanese. In the high schools here, you have to take at least one year of foreign language and most schools offer a wide variety of choices to choose from. I've moved at least 1x times in my life. And its been basically the same everywhere.

god dam retards. do some research and look into those topics deeply
people in america can be working for terrorist organizations. (refering to the 2 idiots who talked about the oklahoma incident) people in the middle east thinks sacrificing themselves is an honor. get your facts straight.
compare to most other places in the world our gas price is cheaper than their water. in this country we have had it easy for far too long. there are billions of barrels of oil in our reserves. there are other countries drilling for oil off the coast of our country. but we dont use the reserve oil and we dont drill in our country. instead because of our dependcy of oil. other country are controling our economy with the price of oil. and that is affecting the price of everything else.

We've done our research...No need to call us "idiots". We were only giving him insight of what the bombing he was talking about :f6:...Yes, true people in America can be working for terrorist organizations, hell that's ANYWHERE actually..But none the less no insulting people, when others are trying to enlighten their minds. And also yeah ok the radical Muslims commit suicide bombings for all the sake of Alah. Yet Americans do it b/c they've had it with their lives & want other people to suffer as they are. NOT all terrorist groups are of Middle Eastern origin, so I've gotten my facts straight, thanks. No need to get bent out of shape if you don't like my response, after all this is the "speak easy".

You US people are so unbelievably blind to anything happening outside your country.
1. How the hell do you claim yourselves to be rich, even if your GDP is 2nd highest? The USA has its economy so deeply fucked up, that five or was it six central banks from Europe had to support your economy with a little 600 billion dollars. Still you manage to spend your money on nonsense, and dare claim you are rich and smart. I lol'd.
2. You complain about "high" gas prices. If I remember right, someone said something about your average gas prices being around ~4$.
1 gallon = 3,78541178 liter. Given that, your gas price is a bit above 1$ per liter. With the current exchange rate, it's around 0,70 per liter, whereas for example here in Finland, the average gas price is two times that.
3. With the fact mentioned above, you "are worried" about the climate change. You're worried, but still no one wants to do anything about it? Your industry is the biggest single polluter in the world. Not to mention your traffic. I use my bicycle to go to school every morning, and it's 15km singe way. For what I've heard, some of you use cars for 500 meters trips.
4. For some reason, your education doesn't appear to be "such excellent". Can't remember the organization name, but they annually do some kind of education comparison in different subjects between the so called "civilized" nations. USA hasn't made it to top 10 in any single subject for years. Top 10 is crowded with european and eastern asian countries. And I'm not claiming you don't have smart people, you surely do. But then again, taking the population into account, you have a relatively low number of extremely clever individuals within the younger generations...
I do not want to flame you US people, but seriously, try to realize the fact that you aren't that superior in this world...
