Katawa Shoujo

When I was playing this, I kept wondering what was wrong with Misha too. My opinion after seeing all the endings made me thing she had some kind of degenerative hearing or ear disease, which was making her slowly lose her hearing. She always talked louder than everyone else and that's why she learned how to sign so well. Maybe an inner ear problem could also make her dizzy, I dunno. Anyway, this was pretty awesome... all the characters stick with you after you're done.

I agree completely. That's something I really love about this VN so far.


Anyway, I've found out quite a few things (confirmed) from the ongoing Q & A with the head writer of Katawa Shoujo. Notable confirmations:

- No Misha route
- Hentai scenes in all girls' routes, some more than others
- Some routes have sad ends (or are just sadder in general)
- Routes become more linear after Chapter 1 (obviously, but thank god)
- No other chapters are "finalized" but there's a lot done for all of them
- Next release WILL be the final game, not more individual releases
- Akira will be seen in Lilly's route frequently (YES!)
- At least TWO endings per route (awesome)
- All hentai scenes uncensored for sure
- At least one more female will appear that plays a role in the story (like Akira and Yuuko)
- Adding on to the more linear thing, you can't change routes by Chapter 2...interesting
- Kenji end is confirmed BAD END (it really does end there, with death)

So in summary, it seems like they're going to do a marvelous job with this. Hentai scenes are probably going to be tasteful and work into the story/romance, rather than be simply hardcore, fetish-fulfilling fapfests. But I'm sure they won't disappoint, either. Tons of different endings are confirmed, which is incredible and means I'll be doing many play-throughs.

Hanako is indeed great, but as far as normal disabilities go Lilly is Top-Tier. Always found blindness strangely attractive and fascinating.

I still haven't made it through my first playthrough due to lack of time, I'm just past the part where you hang out with Hanako and she tells you thanks.

I'm so temped to spoil the paths and such but I'm fighting it with great force.

I have only played Emi's route. I start summer vacation on Friday, I really want to play Hanako's and Lilly's route.

I didn't think it would be over so soon, just got the Hanako end. Going to start again and try for the Lilly end followed by Rin, Emi, and then whoever else.

Is Rin's end supposed to be hard to get? Because I just got it. By mistake mind you, but sort of fitting since it's Rin.

No, it's not. A lot of people didn't know how to get it in the beginning, though, because it's "harder" to get to than other ends, which are painfully obvious or land-in-your-lap easy. I guess you could also look at the fact that Emi and Shizune's ends have multiple ways to access, while Rin's only has one. Lilly and Hanako's do too, but theirs are really obvious.

I've been following along, and have played it, just not really felt like posting. Many apologies.

Regardless, it's a solid game, and I enjoyed playing it very much. Although I am a tad disappointed, as I want to play the full thing now, and I don't really enjoy waits.

Well I just got 100% doing a little rush through doing 3 routes yesterday and finishing Shizune's route just now. The image was indeed great.

Anyway. I can't really find myself ranking the girls on their own so I'll rank them in groups.

Group 1: Rin, Lilly. Group 2: Shizune, Hanako. Group 0: Emi. Group 1 > Group 2 of course, Group 0 is basically a I'm not sure group.

I can however rank the routes.

Rin: I liked hers the best since I enjoy her personality.

Lilly: Even though Lilly's and Hanako's routes are basically the same I like Lilly's end more.

Hanako: I just didn't enjoy her end as much as Lilly's.

Shizune: When I started on this route I hated it, but in the end I really started to like it. To the same effect I liked Misha and hated Shizune, by the end I hated Misha and liked Shizune. Misha needs to go for sure.

Emi: Like Shizune's route except I liked it at the started and hated it by the end.

Regardless, it's a solid game, and I enjoyed playing it very much. Although I am a tad disappointed, as I want to play the full thing now, and I don't really enjoy waits.

It happened to me the other way round. The route I liked the most was Hanako's and Shizune's. Mostly because they're kinda stereotyped. Like the routes that most filled my expectatives. But Lilly's was enjoyable enough because of Akira.

Can't wait for the full release.
