There mission wasn't to kill don flamingo, it was a personal thing law wanted to do specifically for some personal reason which I'm sure will be shown next issue as to why he 'saved' him. There's no blood, and law was seen doing "dot dot dot" while luffy goes to supposedly to grab him.

Also it COULD be related to the string fruit as law pretty much determined that his devil fruit power is useless against him.

I think this was to be expected though. If you were a doll being enslaved for 10 years you wouldn't thank and help your savior?
