Any recent hacked accounts from Southperry users?
PirateIzzy Wrote:I can imagine Sarah taking Nexon to court over this. I hope she does.

I haven't lost anything, I would have no case. There's a lot of evidence of negligence but it would need to be used in conjunction with something more damning like a financial loss.

Huh. I just got a really weird idea.

Has anybody seen many hacked items showing up on the market? Or any prices deflating? If not, it's possible the hackers are storing the items for a bigger purpose.

What if they're planning on selling all the hacked items all at once? scrolls, pieces of time, onyx apples, well scrolled equips, etc. If all these items were put onto the market at the same time, chances are the market would deflate a lot. Remember when NLC came out and the 60% glove att scroll and cheap % based pots were released? The maple economy deflated a lot then. If they sell all the items all at once, prices will lower. Lower prices means one meso is worth more, meaning people will be willing to pay more for less mesos. That means all those mesos they took from all the other accounts that they will likely sell become worth more, increasing their profit.

Just an idea I had getting ready for bed.

They're dumping a lot of the stolen items for super cheap prices. There have been several threads about it.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Derimed Wrote:I hope the PIC deters hackers... I also hope that nexon identifies these hackers and sues them in a court of law. Some guy robbed Habbo Hotel accounts for 4000 euro, he got caught and prosecuted. This group has stolen WAY more than 4000 euro, so let's get them acquainted with Bubba in the surprise buttsecks suites.

All the PIC does is slows down the hacking subject. I hope I'm wrong and and hope this is a "permanent" fix, but I wouldn't bet any money on it and I wouldn't doubt PIC's will eventually be cracked.

Nexon can now sit back and say they fixed it or pretend that it never happened till the next wave of hacked accounts (well I hope there's no future 'waves' but it can happen). I give it a month or two till this isn't a subject anymore and Nexon just won't care about those that were affected by it.

Ah. Well it would have been a lot more devious if they used my idea. Kinda sad they didn't. :<

Anyone live near the nexon home offices in LA? I'd love for someone (pref over the age 18 so it can't be dismissed as a little kid complaining, if you are under 18 bring along a parent) to walk in and talk to them in person. Even if they turn you away/say contact us online, a person walking in says a lot to a company. Sure we can be persistent online but a customer coming in and making an in person complaint shows that, not only are we pissed, but there's more to the story. Perhaps they could bring back some info... If i were nexon i'd take the opportunity to ask wtp is up, if they really are claiming that they know nothing/can't find anything wrong.

If someone does get our point across to them i'd love to let them know they should take like one day's worth of ip logs and just cross ref them for ips logging into many different accounts. that should narrow down the suspects to a manageable amount to set one or two people to monitor the ips for said addresses and send a gm to see what they're up to...

seems not that hard to me but then again when you deal with monkeys everything is harder...

last time they invited people to come and provide input on future changes and even offered to pay 100k nx for coming only one person showed up.... don't get your hopes up. Its 28 hours to there from here if i go the speed limit, somehting like 5 hours if i fly, either way it would be worth it to get to talk to a group consisting of one person from each department (hopefully its not just the same person with 5 hats on) i assume they employ a few hundred people in Los Angelas.

The hacker that hacked one of my guildmates was perma-banned. I advise if you have the ign of who hacked you send it in to nexon.

I got a response to one of the letters I wrote last night. Waiting to see where this leads.

Asked for more information, basically. Also corrected me on their gender. Whoops.

Double post so people see the bump but I just got a second response from one of the contacts that I emailed last night and it's really favourable. I don't know how much I can disclose in relation to personal contact but it is really good news and even though I can't say what it is, everyone who has done anything should be proud.

I had to add my post to the la times after seeing nexon's response to the writers.

If the HQ is the address I read in another thread, where it's located near 1st street of downtown LA, my college (usc) is like 30min max from there iirc

To use the 20/80 example Nexon used. We are the vocal 20% airing what the remaining 80% are thinking abut issues in the game.

Ok guys, big update.

Right now, right in front of a person in Alliance, ChixNorris of Khaini got hacked. The alliance person said it was one of the same group of hackers. So for a brief while we thought the PIC is worthless. Chix is a big group of high-lvl people so on a hunch I messaged another one of them, UglyChix just to make sure. UglyChix told me that the hacker had penetrated ChixNorris's EMAIL. So, the PIC should protect you provided your email is secure. Please see my guide in Guides on how to change your pass to your email to something really secure. Nexon's database has been penetrated, but these people cannot do the same with Gmail or hotmail or something.

Maybe it's all related to the recent email accounts leak.

Proabably the same guy who hacked me the first or second time in that 2 week span. They seem to be hitting most people I know ingame with email cracks.

Thats how my account was hacked, they got into the email (hotmail) and then compromised the Nexon account through resets and got all of the information from the emails.
The only way to be safe from that is to make sure your email is COMPLETELY unknown, so if you've already been hacked once theres always a chance you can be hacked again unless Nexon decides it's appropriate to allow users to change their registered emails. If you are the only person to have your registered email then you're pretty safe in this instance, just don't use it for any types of forum or blog, etc.
