Certainly it'll be all or a number of the Alpha testers.
I find it odd that they are going with a closed testing, most things are already tested by the mother version. It is just the translation and possibly some meshing that needs to be tested in DFOG. An open beta would probably be better, especially since all the alpha players already has high level characters.

I think that Neople will need to advertise a ton for DFOG to survive for a long period of time. On the other hand, I think the late beta release won't affect the long-term health of the game. All of the people who played during the alpha will be brought back easily if Neople targets an audience who haven't tried and played the game before -- which they'll need to in order for the game to thrive.

The only people that they could be losing from releasing the beta late are people who played during the Alpha; and these players are generally more a "core" audience that are going to be playing once the beta hits regardless of its release date.

I'd imagine that they'd bring back all the people who played during the Alpha. Closed beta should theoretically be short; it's probably going to be mostly a server/netcode stress test. It could also gate the "outer core" of players temporarily to make sure that the game won't have any bugs that would deter them from playing long term, while also hyping them up to play while they can't get in like Hearthstone ended up doing during its CBT.

After the initial reaction of bafflement, I guess I am too. On a personal level at least.
I can't help to be worried about it though. The current amount of visual publisher work seems somewhat inadequat compared to what the game deserves and requires to draw in enough money.

Closed Beta Test (CBT) has been officially announced by our CEO. YAY~

Pretty nice of them to give avatars, although I'm expecting them to give a singular Torso avatar.
Wouldn't be a smart business decision to give full avatar sets when they have to make up for the initial costs of creating DFO...Also it's not really cool if there are people who won't get avatars just because they couldn't get into Closed Beta.

Possibly. Exo's new skills are completely underwhelming whereas Avenger is getting mad buffs and improvements. They've come a long way since their initial release.

Personally, I would rather wait. I've played DnF, CDnF and Arad Senki, and they are all great, but nothing beats logging on and being able to read the quests and talk to strangers in your own language. There are minor differences for each version. Check DFCentral if you want specifics.
