Speaking of Gawker, Hulk Hogan got a hefty sum for Gawker for that sex tape case. At least some justice is being made.

Well, the problem with democracies and law is that the law is procedural and amoral. A lot of the time you can prove the right thing, but the technical process is not directly moral and there are ways to use the technical process to escape justice. So, Gawker or National Enquirer force the person suing to undergo all of these BS motions, which drains the plaintiff's pockets and extends the litigation to forever. If you have an army of lawyers, you can do that; some killer that lives in a trailer park could never get such lawyers or such money.

In China, the judicial system is a wise man who serves as the judge and who uses concepts like common sense and his personal judgment to adjudicate the trial. I think most Americans would say that such a system literally invites corruption -- but the Chinese would point to something like the O.J. Simpson trial or the National Enquirer to say the same thing about us.

Really? The way assets generally work in big business, I seriously doubt they have that much in liquid form sitting around, the majority of their "money" is probably tied into the stock market, but based on what you do you know that already. They are screwed. I hope they try to challenge it too, just so they can lose again and be 165M in the toilet (or is that how it works? I'm legitimately not sure anymore). Did you see the part where the lawyer joked about posting celebrity nudes of 4 year olds then didn't even strike it from the record as a joke? Something like, "well, we would only go down to around 4 years old for that kind of thing *laughs*". They are pineappleing idiots on so many levels, there is no way they can win no matter how many times they challenge even if they -had- the money.

Quote: Q. Well, can you imagine a situation where a celebrity sex tape would not be newsworthy?

A. If they were a child.

Q. Under what age?

A. Four.
Directly implying that anything above the age of 4 is newsworthy.

I loved how absurdly easy it was to use leading questions against him, he fell for just about every single one and never realized beyond a look on his face after a few that said "pomegranate, I might have just pineappleed up".

I think it's totally justified for a company like Gawker to get punitives of 130 million or more, but on the other hand... $115million for the victim is only possible in America. 99% of people would switch places with Hulk Hogan any time, but if you were a normal citizen would you realistically have any chance of getting that much money out of the legal system?

Note: I know barely anything about how these things work in the US.

I think he got so much money out of it -because- he is a high profile person, and damaging the character of someone of high profile means more than damaging the character of a nobody. That and how terribly the defense handled literally everything. It's not impossible for a normal person to get that much out of a case but not very probable unless it's something huge, much bigger than a sex tape.

TL;DR: she was literally working as a (very expensive, charlie sheen expensive) escort as a side job.

nintendo's PR girl was prostituting in her free time, no surprise she was dropped for that

I honestly don't even get what the drama is even about in regards to her termination being over moonlighting or not. Her job is PR, they didn't even need to can her for moonlighting. Free speech is fine, unpopular opinions are fine, but if you're in a contract to publicly represent a family friendly company I don't see how you would think it's okay to openly post that kind of stuff on the very same Twitter account you use for official work. I'm honestly surprised she even got the position in the first place and has been like this for years. She's one of the least likely candidates I'd see as being legitimately fit for representing Nintendo in any way, so who the hell hired her in the first place?

If Nintendo feels she isn't representing them properly or interacting with their customers positively, then it means she literally failed at performing her job duties, so even if it wasn't moonlighting that got her I don't find it unfitting for her to get canned just because of her tweets. Like, if Nintendo's corporate structure was so large that the higher ups were unaware that someone like her was on payroll because she got her job from connections and her immediate superiors covered her ass to keep her on payroll; but the drama made enough noise for the higher ups to actually see what she posts and they didn't feel it proper for her position, I don't see an issue. Just because you would have gotten away with it if you didn't draw attention to yourself doesn't mean that you're suddenly a victim just because people make it known that you failed at your job. She wasn't an accountant fired for making dirty tweets on her personal twitter, she was a PR making those tweets on the same account she used for Nintendo stuff. Maybe being a PR for Pornhub is more fitting for her, she should see if they have applications open.

oh yea, forget moonlighting, her asking for "sexy outfits you can watch me wear!", and then wearing semi transparent night gowns on the same account used for doing PR for nintendo, that right there is grounds for termination by not being family-friendly

thing is the media took her firing as nintendo being bullied, and now that the fact that the reason nintendo gave was EXTREMELY true... well, gamers celebrate and the media is in silence.

By and large, Nintendo caters toward children, they can't have one of their public relations people doing things like that. Even if it hadn't been publicly discovered it was still better to let go of her once they found out, to avoid any future situations like this one from popping up. The fact that she linked images from her other job on her main page was just flat stupidity, and it underlines the mindset of SJWs that no matter what they do there will be no consequences. I don't know if they are just arrogant, or if they are incredibly naive, and see the rich and powerful get away with pomegranate and make the incorrect assumption that the world is actually fair and they too can do anything they want with no repercussions.

NCSoft, publisher of Blade & Soul, infected with SocJus
Originally, it was announced that Blade & Soul would not be censored for Western audiences. However, players later realized that a side quest was altered for the Western releases. Players found out that more quests and even characterizations were changed, making the Western releases vastly different from the Eastern releases. On the forums, discussion of this censorship is forbidden, and players were warned not to contact NCSoft about it.
