I'm wondering what the OST is going to be like after seeing this announcement: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/migh...f=activity

So many pineappleing people have joined this project it's ridiculous. With so much talent coming on board it helps convince me that they're going to do their best to make this a great game if nothing else.

F all the way. She looks like a fusion of Ciel and Zero, all the utility of Ciel with the whole confidence of Zero minus their seriousness. She's awesome.

Then H, she reminds me of Tron Bone. it'd be cool if she acted like her.

The kickstarter has rocketed up to nearly $3 million. This means we've reached the "Intro Stage and Boss" milestone! I would not be surprised if we get hit the $3.1mil milestone for the Support Character.

I think they were originally planning for a "basic" game like the original games where it was ONLY the boss stages then the final ones and game ends, especially since this entire project was a major risk they wanted to start out knowing they could make something even with not-so-much funding. So just like the old times there were no support characters, or intro stage/boss, etc.

12 seconds gameplay:

Honestly I feel like the shooting animation is too weak.
Maybe I get used to X holding his buster with the other hand...

Intro stage and support character were the last goals I cared about.

Though hopefully that Call stage gets released as DLC later.

They made sure to state that that video is merely a test they did on the Unreal Engine. Literally 0% of that is representative of the final product. The animations were just things they quickly slapped on there.

Quote:In fact, check out this super-short, super-rough engine test Inti Creates made in just seven days to see if Unreal would be viable for Mighty No. 9. Let’s be 100% clear (caps lock on!): THE GAME WILL NOT NECESSARILY LOOK LIKE THIS VIDEO, MOVE LIKE THIS VIDEO, OR ACT LIKE THIS VIDEO -- THIS IS A COMPLETELY ROUGH TEST ONLY, MADE IN LITERALLY ONE WEEK, USING ALL PLACEHOLDER ASSETS AND ANIMATION just to test how parts of the engine work. With no shaders, filters, or even models and key art in place yet, normally we would never show anything like this since it’s not representative of the final game at all, but in the spirit of this Kickstarter in showing how the game is made, even from the very earliest steps, we thought it would still be pretty cool to see a glimpse of Beck moving around in the engine (even if it is a placeholder Beck, moving through a placeholder level with placeholder enemies and animations!).

Yeha I know it's just a test and that everything is subject to change, but I still do hope I see more "sprites" from X saga on Beck and more enemies from classic megaman. You know what I mean?

Looks too realistic if that can be said. I would preffer an artstyle of this kind

This Beck's model would need to be less cartony and a lot more anime'ish

I halfway agree. The very least I expect monster animations are on the level of Megaman Zero / ZX, with buster shots piercing holes through the enemies and sword-type weapons cutting pieces out of them. But on the more classic megaman elements I don't, simply because this project already is pretty dangerous with the chance of Capcom suing it, let alone if they kept adding stuff that make it resemble the original brand.

I definitely agree that this would look better stylized than realistic. I honestly would be pretty happy with animation like in that gif. They did say they want to blend the best aspects of Eastern/Western gaming. Since the Unreal clip is all placeholder, and given what we've already seen and the history here, I would guess they intend to go with something stylized.

I hadn't even thought of that.
That would be amazing!
*hopes raised*

Even if Capcom did, their reputation is still hurting a bit as is. Stopping Mighty No.9 would probably make them uncontestably the most hated group in the industry.
Do you think Capcom would have a case?

If I'm not mistaken Comcept have stated they were aiming for a cel-shaded style for the game, though we'll have to wait and see how things progress and whether or not they set that in stone. Around 10~15k left for Vita and 3DS stretch goal which we're guaranteed to hit, so now the game will be on EVERYTHING -- my god.

Also, Capcom shouldn't even bother with a legal battle even IF they wanted to. They're almost bankrupt so going into a legal battle is probably not the best for them right now as it could potentially slow down anything they might be working on or even cost them the little money they have left if they were to lose. It doesn't seem like the game is ripping them off even though it's similar. Inafune made a good point when he stated that comparing Megaman and Mighty No.9 is basically comparing "his own work to his own work". There's obviously a certain style that he has inherently, but he's still trying to distinguish No.9 from the Megaman franchise, which is also another reason why F option for Call shouldn't even be considered since that's basically Roll. Of all the previous concept art they including the ONLY one that could be seen as a clone. They rigged the vote either intentionally or unintentionally.

What would they even sue based on? "It looks like Megaman!"? So did Hunter Blade in comparison to Monster Hunter. Hell, HB flat out stole entire concepts from MH and Capcom didn't do pomegranate.

You can't sue because something looks like something else, unless they're also using trademarked things, like Megaman himself, any of his enemies, etc. The game War for the Overworld looks EXACTLY like Dungeon Keeper, which is trademarked by EA, and EA flat out said to WftO's developers that as long as they don't use trademarked creatures or names, EA can't do anything. It's the same exact thing here. These are smart people we have developing this game. They know how to walk the line, and will.

Then you should have complained about Beck being basically megaman with goggles and different colors. He is not trying to distinguish both games more than he is trying to carry over the what made megaman (and this kickstarter) so successful, the music, the gameplay, the story, the characters, Like I said she looks like Ciel with a lot more attitude which alone puts her on top for me, but don't worry I'm sure E, F and maybe H will make it to the final designs and we will see refined designs of them that can change our minds.

Not sure if anyone's noticed but holy f'uck the Kickstarter just got a HUGE amount of backers just now.

Overnight, it was barely at $3mil. Now, it's at $3.6mil.

We got support character, PS4, XBOne, Vita, AND 3DS ALL IN A MATTER OF HOURS!
It's just $100,000 away from Single Player Call mode!

pineapple, I'd love that retro OST+FX. There's a CHANCE we can make it in the 4- hours we have left; we need around 50~55k.
