I'll still probably get it because Playstation likes to be the "RPG" console of the bunch.

Additional specs in the release note the, already revealed, 8GB of unified GDDR5 RAM along with 802.11n WiFi capability, USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 2.1 and ports for optical audio, HDMI and even legacy analog AV hook-ups. It does? Did you pay attention to the PS3 library? It only got two decent exclusive RPGs that I can think of off the top of my head after years of it being released. Ni no Kuni and Tales of Graces f. Technically, neither are even exclusive considering both games are actually expanded versions of a game released on another system. Ni no Kuni was originally on the DS and Tales of Graces was on the Wii. I cannot think of any RPG that the PS3 got that was exclusive to it entirely, and to top it off it has a lackluster RPG library to begin with.

I call the use of the excuse machine again for the PS4 for why it will be unable to support backwards compatibility except PS1 again now.

Game lineup looks kinda weak, but I'll probably still get it if there's about 5 games that look interesting by the end of the year.
PC/Nintendo/Sony 4lyfe, yo.

Oh wait.

And yellow lights of death for PS3. Still, they tended to take years of use to appear. Meanwhile My wii is still going strong. I suppose, at least the stability that comes with using slightly outdated hardware is an advantage for Nintendo consoles.

Wii/nintendo is the only console worth buying because it doesn't depend on graphics or cinema gimmicks. The mario games are alone worth the purchase imo

This list seems to be a bit off but of the exclusives here Ar Tonelico Qoga and the Atelier games are definitely good RPGs and were the only reason why I even had thoughts about buying a PS3.

I did forget about the Ar Tonelico and Atelier games, thanks for correcting me on that.

But compared to the amount of 360 exclusives there are....360 was definitely the "RPG" console this generation.

Ironically, that was the console I got before selling it off and Tales of Vesperia was most certainly not an exclusive RPG. That being said, exclusives are dumb and so none of the console sellers are going to earn my money any more.

Exclusives are dumb. What? PC has exclusives too, so that doesn't really make any sense as an argument. Unless you're quitting gaming completely? (Seems to me like that would be an extreme step to take).

Also: Just heard the PS4 has no backwards compatibility. What is so hard with these console makers that stops them from thinking complete BC is worth their time? Nintendo managed to get 1 generations worth of complete support for it for two consoles now, but sony don't even try?

If Nintendo would actually market more games to the older hardcore gaming audience, then I would agree. It is extremely annoying to have to shell out $300-400 when the only games worth buying are Zelda, Mario, and Super Smash Brothers. I have always been a huge Nintendo fan, but I have really started to like Sony a lot more since I got a PS3. I will probably get the Wii U if those three games I listed look amazing (as they usually do), but it bothers me that Nintendo keeps catering to younger kids and I tend to feel that I wasted some money.

I have mostly quit console gaming. To be perfectly honest I now play Nethack whenever I'm not doing anything intensive on Maple and the game's challenging enough that it'd take me months to years to even beat it on all of the available classes, plus it's totally free and challenges the mind more than practically any game I care to name.

Ugh, there we go with no BC. I am in agreement, why do they keep not giving backwards compatibility when Nintendo has done that and it certainly didn't kill their sales?

I feel the lack of standard controller really limits that availability. I mean are there any games specific you think would work great on the wii? I essentially cross out anything that has to do with first person shooting because the Wii is so hell bent on motion aiming that it's utter crap compared to it's counterparts.

edit: When I say wii I also mean the wiiu

That's a really good point and I feel that they have almost backed themselves into a corner where they now need to be extremely creative if they want to make games that cater to older fans. It's kind of a shame, but until they master this motion technology I don't know what games they should make.

I think another metroid game would be fun considering they haven't released a good one since Metroid Prime. Since Nintendo is known for its exclusives, if motion control is the way they are going, they need to utilize these exclusives more.

It's really become the best "party" game system. I like to think of it like an arcade system if anything, and I feel like that's been the right direction lately, at least for me. The problem I have for games such as the top 10 on everyones list, it's so cinematic that it really takes it from being a game. God of war is a good example, however the story was in fact really good, but I felt like I was watching a movie more than playing a game.

Pft. Motion aiming is better than autoaim- sorry, "analogue" aim where the game does all the hard work for you. I literally can't play any modern analogue stick shooter anymore because of the amount the game has to do for you in terms of aiming (That, and the linearization of shooters doesn't help either!)

Not to mention, the gamepad is identical to a "standard" controller: It literally has all the buttons an Xbox 360 controller has, so that argument really doesn't hold water.

Oh, and you might have heard of these

The only reason the Wii didn't get ports of most major things during it's lifespan is because the hardware would have required the game to be rebuilt from the ground up, and probably wouldn't be as good a game as the PC/360/ps3 version anyway. (I'm thinking of, for example, dead rising: Chop till you drop). Wii U isn't because... Idk, it hasn't sold quite well enough yet? That's the bs publishers are going with, right?
