It doesn't say"new" character designs anywhere. All it says is Character designs by Nomura. Which, unless some crazy time travelling shenanigans have happened, would also be true for a rerelease of the original.

Perhaps there is a new game coming and they are also releasing a port to iOS to attract more people into the series.

Edit: Hey, also, the game is an identical file size on the iPhone/Pad, so they're charging you twice for identical games instead of the *all device intergration* thing a lot of apple devices have going on.

Watched the trailer, the graphics look a little nicer. Looks like combat on one screen is done by... making the other character completely computer controlled. Lovely
